Lesson Plan – Mr. Harrold – 7th Grade Science Week of: Oct. 27, 2014 Purpose: This week we will be introduced to geologic history. Monday, we will finish the film and look at what scientists theorize what happen in the past that shaped the earth. (Theories of Uniformatarianism and Catastrophicism). Tuesday, the students will be working in groups to complete a lab on looking at artifacts and trying to draw a story of what happened. Wednesday, students will look at relative dating and how scientists use this to put a date to things. Thursday and Friday, students will look at geologic columns in a lab activity. These lessons address PSSA standards: S8.D.1.1.4 - Explain how fossils provide evidence about plants and animals that once lived throughout Pennsylvania's history (e.g., fossils provide evidence of different environments).
