Page 4 Milwaukee Chapter FEI March 2005 President’s Message At the March meeting at the Wisconsin Club, the new Chapter leaders were nominated and elected. I want to thank Jim Monnat, the nominating committee and new board member volunteers for making the nominating process successful. Dean Greenstreet from the University of WisconsinMilwaukee spoke on Milwaukee’s vital signs. A few weeks earlier, Jay McKenna, next years president, Leo Waner, next years secretary and I attended the Area Leadership Meeting in Las Vegas. It was informative, helpful and nice to hear from other chapters and find out what they are doing. Jay and Leo said they obtained a number of good ideas for next year’s board. Carl Knauer also attended fulfilling his area leadership commitment. We heard about the new AMS system and its impact on chapters. Also, the results of a chapter survey covering chapter organization, treasury, administrators, sponsorships, membership recruiting, meeting related activities, career services and publications were reviewed. I feel our chapter’s activities, procedures and programs compared very favorably. The April meeting is Outstanding Students Night always one of my favorites because we assemble all of those bright financial stars from the six area universities to receive recognition. In addition, two senior and junior $2,500 and $1,000 scholarships respectively from the Milwaukee Chapter of FEI will be awarded. Your Academic Relations committee consisting of Brian Dempsey, John Kita and Howard Miller have worked hard to make this happen. Our April speaker Nancy Blough’s topic is “The Fiscally Fit Health Plan”. You are encouraged to invite your Human Resources director. I hope you will join us for this upcoming meeting. Let me make a pitch for the upcoming FEI National Summit to be held in Chicago May 19 - 22, 2005. These Summits are outstanding opportunities allowing for lots of networking and technical and leadership advice from some of the country’s finest speakers. If enough of our members attend, we will have a cocktail social during the Summit. If you haven’t already signed up, please consider signing up for this convenient Summit. It's been a pleasure being your president this year. The more you learn about FEI, the more you will appreciate how important this organization is in shaping our career and the future of finance in this country. I've enjoyed getting to know you all better and look forward to the most coveted office of all, "past president.” See you in April. Jim Schindhelm Chapter President Reminder!!
