Academic Certification & Continuing Education Program University of Phoenix (UofP) Program: (College Credit) SkillSoft has an agreement with UofP’s Prior Learning Assessment Center (PLAC). Under this program, college level credit can be earned for previous training on SkillSoft courses. This arrangement permits individuals to take SkillSoft off-the-shelf courses to accelerate their career while obtaining undergraduate degree credit from the University of Phoenix. UoP has evaluated hundreds of SkillSoft’s business skills and IT titles and verified their eligibility for credit toward general education and elective requirements of a bachelor’s degree. Process: Student completes the Prior Learning Assessment Center (PLAC) Application and List of Items; compiles documentation. Student pays one-time $150.00 registration fee through student website. Student is emailed a notification that submission has been received. o File is routed to Portfolio Evaluator for initial review. If requirements are met, the file is handled in two ways: o The Portfolio Evaluator reviews portfolio for previously evaluated materials. o The Portfolio Evaluator routes the file to Faculty Evaluator for review of the submission for academic equivalency based upon regulatory requirements. Student advised of outcomes via email. If credits are awarded, they are posted to the student record. Student is invoiced for payment of fees for the credits assessed and posted. Fees: As of Sept. 2008, UofP fees for having courses evaluated from the approved Course Guide are as follows: $75 per credit hour, and a one-time registration fee of $150. Credit Conversion A typical degree requires 120 credit hours. UofP will accept up to 30 credit hours for computer based training. Course Length - 30 hours of self-paced learning (not classroom or teacher-led) is equivalent to 1 semester credit hour. 15 clock hours of self-paced off-the-shelf learning is equivalent to 0.5 semester credit hour. Combinable - Courses less than 15 clock hours in length may be combined. Combinations of courses equivalent to 15 clock hours will earn 0.5 semester credit hour, 30 clock hours for 1 semester credit hour and so on. Academic Certification & Continuing Education Program Drexel University (Drexel) Program: (College Credit) Through an agreement between SkillSoft and Drexel e-learning, learners who have completed SkillSoft business and IT courses are eligible to receive up to 20 credits at no cost toward the completion of undergraduate degrees in communications, applied technology or general studies. Delivered fully online, Drexel's programs are highly interactive and are designed for working professionals seeking to earn a degree or additional certification. The online programs follow the same high academic standards and lead to the same quality degrees as on-campus. All Drexel's programs are accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Secondary Schools. Process: SkillSoft learners will need to document successful completion of ACE accredited SkillSoft courses through an official employer verification which can be obtained from SkillPort's learner record reports or your company's learning management system. Transcripts must be approved by your employer and submitted to Drexel together with your application. More than 500 SkillSoft courses are eligible for credit at Drexel University. To receive credit for a SkillSoft course, participants must obtain a grade of 70 percent or higher on the course test. Students receive one credit for every ten contact hours associated with a SkillSoft course. For instance, successful completion of SkillSoft’s Six Sigma course series, comprised of eight courses, would earn the learner a minimum of three college credits. The CEU (Continuing Education Unit) is a nationally recognized unit of measurement for participation in a non-credit continuing education program. This online curriculum is available to all continuing education students at the university. Process: Submit a copy of the learning transcript (LMS) form capturing the following information: Learner Name/SS# Course/Series Name Date of Completion Post-Test Scores Signature of Training or HR Manager LMS transcripts and payment should be made to George Mason University at the address below: Office of Continuing Professional Education 4400 University Drive Fairfax, VA 22030-4444GMU Fees: A $20.00 fee will be charged per certificate/per subject area for non-profit and $30.00 per certificate/per subject area for profit organizations. Credit Conversion: One CEU will be awarded for every 10 hours of SkillSoft instruction. All SkillSoft courses have been granted CEU accreditation. Customers who successfully complete SkillSoft courses are eligible to earn CEUs from GMU. A permanent record of CEUs will be maintained by GMU in an easily accessible database that can be used for purposes of verification and certification. Academic Certification & Continuing Education Program American Council on Education (ACE) Program: (College Credit) ACE's College Credit Recommendation Service (ACE CREDIT), connects workplace learning with colleges and universities by helping adults gain access to academic credit at colleges and universities for formal courses and examinations taken in the workplace or other settings outside traditional higher education. ACE CREDIT has evaluated and recommended college credit for 41 SkillSoft learning programs, comprising over 500 course titles. Authorized Test Centers adhere to ACE testing and student validation processes to ensure the integrity of the testing process and accuracy of the test scores submitted to ACE on behalf of the learner. NOTE: ACE is currently updating its Test Center policies and pricing options. Organizations wishing to become Test Centers, or individuals seeking an authorized Test Center, should contact the ACE Credit Recommendation Service: http://www.acenet.edu/AM/Template.cfm?Section=CCRS After a learner has successfully completed the ACE-approved SkillSoft courses and passed the associated exams, the Test Center will submit to ACE the required documentation to validate the course completion. Learner should then register with the ACE Registry and Transcript System to obtain the ACE Credit Transcript. Fees: There is a one-time $40 student registration fee, which covers the costs for the initial ACE credit transcript. There is a fee of $15 for all subsequent transcripts.
