Step 4 - Staff Training and Development Plan for Children's Centres
Training and development action plan
Fill in the training and development action plan for all of your staff. It allows you to record and prioritise training identified for your staff. By identifying
priorities you can make sure that the most important training gets done first. The completed form will show the training and development staff working
in your setting need in order to carry out their jobs effectively and develop to their full potential, benefiting themselves, you (manager/employer) and the
children and families you support. It is a working document that you need to review regularly, and you should use it to support induction processes,
staff appraisals and the continuing professional development of all your staff.

Links: It is important that you use examples to show benefits, and link these to the schemes and processes you use, such as self evaluation forms, the
Quality Improvement Toolkit, the Quality Improvement Award and any other documents and policies that guide your practice.
Action needed/ next steps: What are we going to do? Who is going to do it? When are they going to do it? Also think about, should you share what the
staff member has learnt from this training with the rest of the team? If your next steps identifies further training you can put this information onto your action
plan (Step 4 of this document). Remember, you may be able to apply for funding for a qualification from the Workforce Development Fund.
