Native Americans of Texas Project
Due Monday, October 14, 2013
Objective: You will research a Native American Tribe of Texas and create a scrapbook,
report, or power point presentation about that tribe.
You may choose from the following tribes:
Caddo
Tonkawa
Kiowa
Tigua
Atakapan
Apache
Jumano
Coahuiltecan
Wichita
Comanche
Concho
Karankawa

For each project, you will present the information as if you were a member of that tribe.
Your project will include the following information:
1. Title Page – includes your Native American Name (one you create for yourself),
your name, first and last, and 7th period.
2. Purpose of your project – why are you doing this? This should be a typed
paragraph.
3. Location in Texas – Show location of your tribe on a map.
4. What type of home do you live in? Describe and insert pictures.
5. What type of food do you eat? How do you get your food? Insert pictures.
6. SPEG Factors
a. Social – Describe religion, customs, and ideas that are specific to your
tribe. Ex, Scalping, sun worship.
b. Politics – How is your tribe organized? Who is in charge?
c. Economy – How does your tribe acquire goods and supplies?
d. Geography – Name and describe the region you are located in and how
the region influences your tribe.
7. What are the roles of men and women in your tribe?
8. Include pictures and/or brief information about famous members or chiefs of your
tribe.

9. Make sure to have pictures to represent your tribe. AND…make sure you site
where you took the pictures from on the internet.

2. You must include steps 1-9
3. Must be neat and organized.
4. One topic per page (ex. Politics=1 page, Food=1 page)
5. Minimum of 12 pages – that’s one topic per page.
Report –
1. Must be typed.
2. You must include steps 1-9
3. Must be written in paragraph form with no fewer than 3 sentences per paragraph.
4. One topic per paragraph (ex. Politics=1 paragraph, Food=1 paragraph)
5. Must include pictures.
Power Point Presentation –
1. Must be typed
2. Must include steps 1-9
3. One topic per slide (ex. Politics=1 slide, Food=1 slide)
4. Minimum of 12 slides
