Below is a list of available resources to help prepare you for the TExES exams. You may also use resources you may
know of that are not on this list. The TExES PREP Center on Blackboard may also be of help to you.
FREE RESOURCES
Educational Testing Service (ETS)
ETS, the company that administers the TExES exam program for the state, offers a variety of preparation materials on their
website (www.texes.ets.org). Available for download are preparation manuals that include a limited number of exam questions
identical to the questions on the actual TExES exams. Downloading and studying the manual for your certification field and grade
level should be your first step in preparing for the exam. Practice Question eBooks also may be downloaded at a cost of $19.95
each at the ETS TExES Store. Go to http://store.ets.org for a list of preparation materials.
Preparation Manuals
COPE purchased several preparation manuals and placed them on reserve at the TWU Library. Manuals are available for the PPR
exam, as well as a number of content areas.
TWU CertifyTeacher Programs
CertifyTeacher is a company that provides digital preparation and review programs for many of the TExES exam, including the
PPR exam. These programs include several full-length practice exams that will identify your problem areas and give detailed
explanations of answers. Electronic flashcards provide a review of important test concepts and terminology. TWU purchased
single computer versions of the PPR programs. These are limited versions which do not include all of the features and materials of
the full version. However, you may access these versions at no charge by scheduling a time to review them through the COPE
Dean’s Office by sending an e-mail to Carolyn Brown at CBrown8@twu.edu.
TExES PREP Center Blackboard site
The TExES Prep Center Blackboard site offers a PPR video workshop, test anxiety tutorials, and other information to help you
pass your exams. You can go through these at your own pace and as often as you wish.
T-CERT TExES Certification Exam Review for Teachers
Online modules, including videos and study materials for the PPR and some content areas are available free of charge at
https://pact.tarleton.edu/TCERT/.
F2F TWU Workshops
Face-to-face workshops covering the PPR and Generalist exams are offered each semester, and the schedule can be found on the
TExES Prep Center Blackboard site and the Office of Student Support Services website (http://www.twu.edu/teachercertification).

If you found the reduced versions of the CertifyTeacher preparation program provided by TWU to be helpful you may want to

Besides the face-to-face workshops TWU provides there are other TExES preparation workshops offered by others, some nonprofit organizations such as Education Service Centers and some for-profit companies. We try to keep as complete a list as
