Free Verse Poem Assignment You will write an original poem that meets the following requirements: - a minimum of 16 lines - Free verse, this means NO rhyming or clear beat / pattern. We went over the definition of Free Verse in class. - The Poem must relate to the theme of making the most out of your life. In class we watched the movie Dead Poet’s Society. From this film comes the phrase Carpe Diem, Seize the Day. Seek to lead the life of your dreams. Similar to the idea in “The Road Not Taken” by Robert Frost. This idea is to be the starting point for your poem. Build off this idea as your theme. - I know we wrote a poem off this topic once. Build, grow, and expand from your thoughts that first time. Produce something better, something more true to you. - If you have any questions, please let me know. This poem is due next week on your first day in class in May. Write, read, rewrite, re-read, choose each word . . .with care Make something you can be proud of! You will be sharing it in class, either with me reading it or you. DO NOT settle for ordinary Feel free to make it look attractive, allow its appearance to add to its meaning
