State law now requires that a person who is not a citizen or legal resident of the United States or who is without lawful
immigration status is not entitled to classification as an in-state student for tuition purposes pursuant to A.R.S. Section 15-1802.
The responsibility of providing the proper residency documentation is placed upon the student. Any student who falsifies his/her
residency may be subject to dismissal from the university.

Current/Valid Driver's License (issued 2000 or later). States for which licenses are not acceptable as a primary source of verification are
Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Washington, as these states do not verify
lawful presence in the U.S.

Acceptable Documents
The following is a list of acceptable documents to verify a student's citizenship, legal resident or other lawful presence status for
purposes of determining eligibility for in-state tuition. Documents may be emailed, mailed, faxed, or submitted in person.
Documentation that is submitted via fax or mail must be legible with no evidence of tampering. Final residency decisions for
tuition purposes will be made in accordance with A.R.S. §15-1801 et. seq., as well as the policies and regulations of the Arizona
Board of Regents and Arizona State University.
The Most Common Ways to Provide Verification:
1.
Current/valid Arizona Motor Vehicle Department
Driver License/Identification Card
(issued October 1, 1996 or later)
Current/valid Drivers License, Instructor Permit or
Non-Operator Identification card from a U.S. state
issued since 2000 or later
States for which licenses are not acceptable as a
