room. There will also be a VBS Meeting @ 5:00 for anyone
who wants to be involved in our VBS this summer.
Sign up for our End of School Celebration night and go to the
Nashville Sounds game with us on May 24th.
Senior Night is coming up really soon and graduation will
be here before you know it. We have several seniors this
year. If you are a Senior parent, be thinking about the
pictures you would like for the Senior video. We are also
going to try and do a few other things this year with Senior
Night! Can’t wait for this exciting celebration!
Our Rewards Trip to Cedar Point in Sandusky, OH, is coming
up really soon (May 28-30). Last year we paid the way for
pretty much everyone that went. This year our SENIORS
ONLY will go for FREE. Everyone else will be charged for
park tickets as well as food. As soon as Cedar Point gets back
with me, I will let everyone know the cost for this trip.
We are trying something new this summer for our current
Juniors and Seniors...we will be taking a Whitewater Rafting
Trip on the Ocoee River on July 15-16. We would love for all of
our Juniors and Seniors to go with us. This will hopefully
become a yearly tradition. Because we must book in advance
pretty early...I need to get an idea of who is able to and wants
to go. Sign Up with ME (Andrew Jenkins) by May 12th.

ROOM IN THE INN CITY WIDE REPORT
26 Years and Still Counting
The winter of 1987 brought below average
temperatures. There were frozen underground pipes,
men sleeping under bridges, by the river and on benches
in Centennial Park. Reports of frost bite and other harm
to the homeless were not uncommon.
A group of about 12 churches in 1987 took one small
step with Room in the Inn. The Elders of Woodson
chapel decided to join this effort. They were encouraged
by the strong support of the members. The winter of
1987 was the beginning of Woodson's service. This
November - March service and shelter continues.
The Room in the Inn 2013 summary dated Apr. 2013
reports 176 congregations providing service to the twoplus thousand who call the streets home. Volunteers
came from all age groups and all walks of life. They
offered assistance as drivers of vans, preparers and
servers of meals, shoppers for food, and watchers over
guests during the night.
Progress in this work is seen in service now offered in
shelter, hospitality, education, shelter and long-term
solutions.
Thank you churches for your gift of
hospitality!!
More important is Woodson's response to our Lord's
words in Matt. 25 - Then shall the King say unto them on
his right hand, Come ye blessed of my Father, inherit the
kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the
world; for I was hungry, and ye gave me to eat; I was
thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye
took me in; naked and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye
visited me; I was in prison, and ye came unto me."
Woodson Friends,
Words can't express our appreciation for all the cards
sent, visits, prayers and concerns expressed during my
hospital stay and rehab. It's wonderful to be remembered
by such loving friends.
Leon Hampton
Dear Woodson Family,
Thank you so much for the beautiful flowers, the
delicious meals and the many cards I received after my
surgery. Your thoughtfulness has made my recovery so
much easier. What a blessing to belong to such a loving
congregation.
With much appreciation, Julie Fly
Thanks to everyone who send the pretty cards. They give
me a lift each time I get one.
Love, Pauline Lawing
