There will be 26 assignments and each one will be graded on a 10 point scale. The lowest one will be dropped. So, 250 points of the final grade will be derived from assignments. All students are required to start assignments during class.
Assignments constitute
39% of the grade and are vital as they provide more depth and difficulty than test questions. Late assignments are not accepted for credit. Permanent zero grades will be entered for assignments that are not turned in on time. Students who miss class are not given extra time. If you miss a class, a handout will be scanned office and be ready to turn in that assignment at the beginning to you. Scan assignments to Michael.hardie@wnc.edu if you miss class.
There will be four tests with each one worth 100 points.
Therefore 400 points of the final grade will be derived from tests. STUDENTS WHO MISS CLASS ON THE DAY OF A TEST CAN EARN NO
HIGHER THAN 50 ON A RETEST . If you can not be in class on the day of a scheduled exam, arrange to take it early. Final grades are assigned as follows:
A = 585-650; B = 520-584; C = 455-519; D = 390-454; F = 0-389
I = given at the instructor’s discretions but only in the case of illness or emergency. A student must have completed all work and
absences must not exceed five classes prior to Week 13.
N = audit grade which requires that the student do all assignments and sign up at the registrar’s office before February.
W = not given by the instructor under any circumstances.
Attendance is required. If you miss 6 classes for any reason, you will receive an F despite your point total and you will not be allowed to attend future classes or submit future work. The only way to avoid the F will be for you to withdraw online no later than the end of the 8 th week. The instructor must approve exceptions to this policy before February.
