Introduction and highlights
The PRIMERGY Econel 100 provides a platform for those who demand a powerful mono socket
server of the latest generation combined with reliable data security features. Superb power
reserves through the Intel® Pentium® D processor, each core with 3.0 or 3.4 GHz, 2x 2 MB SLC,
800 MHz FSB. The Celeron D 352 CPU is also available. The Intel® Pentium® D (Dual-Core)
processor increases the efficiency with simultaneous execution of several applications and e.g. the
parallel download of mass data. The Intel® E7230 chipset is supporting also EM64Technology.
Proven server features ranging from ECC memory to RAID 1 (mirroring) controller onboard protect
your data against loss and falsification. With the serial-ATA hard disk “easy change” technology,
you have the option of configuring double disk security at low cost.
The enclosed delivered PRIMERGY ServerView Suite offers the easiest way to get the system
ready for your operation. All installation items are guided step by step for up to date and easy
configuration.

The PRIMERGY Econel 100 provides a platform for those who demand a powerful mono socket server of the latest generation
combined with reliable data security features at an entry-level price point.
In the particularly price-sensitive entry-level segment, the Econel 100 server is used where the focus is on reliable entry server
functionality. The Econel 100 is being positioned in precisely this range in order to eliminate the weaknesses of a PC operated
as a server, yet offer a price comparable with that of a PC. The Econel 100 has a pure “server board” and no synergies with a
PC. The extra costs are justified by certification of the electrical components and the current operating systems, the cost for
improved system cooling and the reduction in noise level.
The Econel 100 is based on the tried-and-tested Serial-ATA technology, offers great expandability and sufficient processor
performance, with the result that no compromises are necessary in this segment.

Housing (Chassis)
Power is supplied as standard by a power supply unit with an output of 300 W.
6.1.2
Processors
With the new Intel® Pentium® D processors with 3.4 GHz, the PRIMERGY ECONEL 100 achieves
outstanding performance ratings at low prices, depending on the application areas. The front side bus for
all Pentium processors is clocked with 800 MHz and are equipped with 2x 1MB or 1 MB SLC. In addition
there is a low-cost Celeron processor available with 3.2 GHz, 533 MHz FSB and 256 KB SLC
6.1.3
Main memory
With up to a 8 GB main memory DDR2 SDRAM protected by ECC (Error Correction Code), the Economy
server is well equipped to cope with typical application areas. PC2-4200 DDR2 RAM modules with 512 Mbyte,1 Gbyte and 2
Gbyte are available for memory configuration. The entire main memory is protected by ECC. When data in the memory is
accessed, correctable 1-bit errors are detected and automatically corrected. A mix and match of modules is possible without
restrictions, best performance can be achieved with dual channel operation (2 equal modules necessary). One memory slot is
always occupied according to the relevant basic unit, thus minimizing in some cases the possible maximum configuration
without changing modules. Onboard components limit the available memory depending on configuration.
6.1.4
Onboard controllers
The PRIMERGY Econel 100 is shipped with an onboard Intel FW82801FR (chipset) controller with LSI SATA SW-RAID 0, 1, 10
for up to 4 HDD´s. As a result of RAID functionality (RAID 0, 1 and 10), data security is additionally enhanced by means of
mirroring of the internal hard disks.
A Gbit/s Ethernet LAN controller (Broadcom 5751) with one RJ45 port is also available onboard. Further interfaces are
integrated (1 RS-232-C, 1 x Centronics (parallel) 25-pin, 1 keyboard, 1 mouse, 8 USB (4x back, 2x frontside, 2x internal for back
up drives), as is a graphics controller on board.
A 1 port Fast IDE ATA100 controller is onboard, for CD-ROM and other drive.
6.1.5
Hard disks
ECONEL 100 is offered with up to four “easy change” mounted SATA hard disks. Four drive bays for SATA hard disks in the 1inch mounting frame are available to accommodate SATA hard disks, each with a capacity of 80, 160, 250 or 500 Gbytes. 4 x
SATA cabling will be shipped with the basic unit.
6.1.6
Accessible drives
Three bays are foreseen for accessible drives. The 3.5-inch bay can be used with a optional floppy disk drive. The 5.25-inch
bays can be used for a CD or DVD drive and the second for a backup tape.
6.1.7
I/O slots
Seven free I/O slots 3x PCI-Express (1x1; 1x4, 1x8) and 4x PCI 32/33 (2 x short), for PCI cards are available for extending the
PRIMERGY ECONEL 100. Like already in the Econel 50 we doesn´t need a slot for a RAID controller on use 4 SATA hard
disks.
The integrated PDA (Prefailure Detection and Analyzing) technology preventively supplies information on errors that may
possibly occur in components such as S.M.A.R.T. hard disks, fans and CMOS batteries. Access to the system is secured by
password protection in the BIOS for system start and settings. System, setup and the keyboard are also password-protected.
The Econel 100 Economy server supports the operating systems Windows 2000 and 2003, Windows SBS and Linux (SuSe
and Red Hat).

Server Management
PRIMERGY servers are shipped with extensive, easy-to-use server management products. These ensure simple configuration
and installation, reliable monitoring and efficient administration, and automated analysis and version maintenance.
The PRIMERGY Econel 100 comes as standard with the server management products of the PRIMERGY ServerView Suite
(ServerView Installation Manager and ServerView).
ServerView Installation Manager
ServerView Installation Manager guides users through the configuration and installation process in logical steps and with
plausibility checks.
ServerView
ServerView facilitates monitoring, administration and maintenance of PRIMERGY servers online. The ServerView Manager
contains a wide range of intuitive management programs. ServerView agents, in conjunction with hardware functions on the
monitored servers, ensure proactive protection against failures. The powerful alarm management facility that can be configured
individually over the Internet passes system messages quickly and reliably to administrators or service providers. ServerView
Version Management reduces the time and effort needed for updating the systems.
Flash-EPROM
Local BIOS-Update via floppy disk. Remote BIOS-Update with Global Flash Tool and service partition via LAN (OS dependent).
