Minutes of the meeting of 3rd October 2008 were agreed as a true record.
Matters arising:- Terry had made good progress with parking for the Elmton
Chase.
UKA membership review: members were happy to stay with UKA
Remembrance Service: Sunday(9th) at Salvation Army 9-30 am. Thanks to
Paul and Avis for laying our wreath.
Worksop Half Marathon cake stall had raised £537- many thanks to all who
contributed.
Presentation Evening arrangements were all in hand( Jan 17). Let John Proffitt
know if you need tickets - £1 each.
Half Marathon
466 entries- 171 via website, 12Fun Run on line. Will need to review if full
before the race date. Gold permit and R Gibbard and K Parker will be our
scrutineers. There are 45 checks but we have all bases covered. Offers for
marshals still needed so please see Roger after the meeting- meeting will be 14
Nov at 7-30pm. Would marshals on the early part of the course report to
Roger once runners have passed them so that they can help at pressure points
nearer the finish.
Trevor has cups sorted, Terry will collect the caravan and manage the
information base.
Heritage school is booked and Terry and Geoff will check after seeing the
police on Friday 14th.
112 new signs have been purchased; Maurice asked for the return of his
'Caution Runners' signs.
The race will be closed after 1-00pm.
Signs meeting at the store Sat 22 10-30 am/ Sponges will need cutting.
John reported that Whitwell was covered. Eunice and Andy Porter will cover
changing rooms at the Sports Hall.
St Johns First Aid are on call as are the Rapid Response Vehicles, Dr Collins,
and 8 PCO's.
We need a driver for the back up bus- Brian agreed to look at this.
Paul agreed to take the water out, the training group agreed to drop of letters
on North Road and Boughton Lane, Maurice agreed to follow the wheelchair
athlete.
Secretary.
Dennis indicated that he had written to UKA to request a reprint and reissue of
membership cards.
London Marathon- the club has three places- the draw will be made on 28 Nov
–please have evidence of rejection.
Cross Country series- Dennis and Dave had attended a meeting to resolve a
number of issues. Thanks to Dennis' persistence an early meeting had been
achieved with satisfactory outcomes for the 2009 series. Race dates and
venues are on the web site/there will only be 3 trophies- Mens team, Ladies
team and Overall team/ each club to provide a recorder, a time keeper, and a
finishing funnel of 20m. Killamarsh will collate the results and Chair the
meeting for the 2010 series. Second claim runners-4 men count and 1 lady
with 10 pts added to their finishing position. As long as the risk assessment is
up to date the UKA insurance policy should cover the race. The Chairman
thanked Dennis and Dave for their contribution to what appeared to be a
successful meeting.
Club Captain.
Dave thanked all members for their thoughts regarding the 2009 GP. The basic
structure of the GP was to remain the same as would the rules on completion
and the special race, although one additional proposal would be brought to the
EGM. The races would be spread across the whole year, with the special race
better placed in the back half of the year. With the exception of the Xc's most
races would be different to 2008. A team event would run throughout 2009.
More detail at the EGM on 28 Nov.
Training night still going well.
Treasurer
Lewis reported that £300 had been banked from 1/2 marathon receipts.
Social/Publicity.
John reported that there were not as many medals to present as last year and
not as many members had completed the full GP. The WMA scoring would
make no difference to the outcome.

Steve had to send his apologies.
Terry reported that the walking weekend had had very good weather. The
hotel was a good base if 45 members wanted to go.
Greg and the meeting were delighted that Julie Keeling had offered to become
minuting secretary from the next meeting.
John Harrison thanked all members who had helped or marshalled at the
Worksop ½ marathon.
Next meetings. 28 Nov EGM for GP followed by usual meeting brought
forward from December. 2 Jan is first meeting of the New Year.
