Events that meet requirement #3 for Peace & Conflict Studies minor
Additional requirement:
3. Students are expected to attend six Peace & Conflict-related campus or community
events. Those events that qualify will be advertised through the Peace & Conflict Studies
website, and will be tracked by the director of the program. Students are encouraged to
attend at least two a year. Attendance at these events may not be used as excused
absences from other courses. Transfer students who transfer in 70 credits or more are
required to attend two Peace & Conflict-related events total. Transfer students who
transfer in 40-70 are required to attend four events. Transferring in fewer than 40
credits commits you to all six events.

Why Are Anti-Immigration Laws a “Women’s Issue”?
Dr. Linda Stevenson, Director of the Latin American Studies Program, and Susan
Kim, Interim Executive Director of Pennsylvania Immigration and Citizenship
Coalition, will lead a discussion on immigration laws, including the highly
controversial SB1070 law in Arizona, and how women are impacted by such
legislation. Co-sponsored by Latin American Studies, WCU Latino Heritage
Committee, Women’s Center, and Women’s and Gender Studies.
