In this exciting role, you will be responsible for working with Student Leaders on the planning, developing and execution of special events, concerts and regular student programming for the Brock University Students’ Union. The position requires the incumbent to work effectively, and to foster cooperative relationships with, Student Leaders, Club Executives, Food Services and Bar Managers and various student positions to create programming that is student focused and represents the interests of a diverse student population. Duties Include: Works collaboratively to plan, develop, promote and execute special events, concerts and student focused programming for the students at Brock University. Ensuring this programming meets a variety of diverse student tastes. Coordinates and promotes relevant student programming including theme and seasonal events for Thursday night pub nights at the campus bar to attract the student population and further the pub night business. Completes office duties as needed, such as completing payable statements, monitoring budget and maintaining an up to date events calendar. Aids in the creation and uploading of content for events and the event calendar on BUSU.net and other platforms. Ensures that University Risk Management processes have been completed for events as required. Works consistently to develop a broad network of relationships with agencies, performers and equipment/technical service suppliers for use by Brock University Students’ Union. Creates performance reports after each major event and summaries after minor events. April 2014 www.busu.net 1 Event Programmer Provides supervision, guidance, and coaching to two student positions (Special Events Coordinator & Logistics Coordinator). Creates and manages an annual event programming budget of approximately $200,000. Works in conjunction with the Manager, Marketing & Communications to identify and procure longstanding multi-year partnerships and sponsorship funding. Requirements: Minimum college diploma in a related field or equivalent experience Experience in event management is an asset. Experience programming for college/university market is preferred. 2+ years of supervisor experience. Strong communication skills both oral and written Thorough working knowledge of MS Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Thorough working knowledge of sound, lighting and production equipment. Excellent planning, organization and time management skills. Ability to work effectively in a face-paced environment, re-prioritize and multitask as necessary. Why BUSU?
