Form part of the Mercy Health Health Information Service team in meeting service priorities and demands. Minimum Year 12. Completion of a Medical Terminology course. Provision of transcription service to clinicians Mercy Health Outpatient letters, discharge summaries and operation reports are typed within 5 working days. Outpatient letters, discharge summaries and operation reports are produced according to hospital standards on format and content. Outpatient letters, discharge summaries and operation reports contain minimal transcription errors Standard Measures Be compassionate and provide support to staff and customers. Type outpatient clinic letters, discharge summaries, operation reports and other relevant reports when dictated by clinicians. To provide relief within transcription services when necessary and assisting colleagues to achieve a high standard of accuracy. Type urgent letters or reports for medical staff when necessary. Advise medical staff of the procedures and requirements of the transcription service. All transcriptionists’ skills are kept up to date. Signing, delivery and mailing of typed letters Urgent dictation is typed as a priority. All new doctors are assigned a code on commencement. Standard Measures Deliver/Collect the appropriate folder of medical records for dictation and letters requiring signature to the Outpatient Dictation area prior to/following each clinic session. Prepare signed letters for mailing. Ensure a copy of each letter is filed into the medical record. Undertakes other appropriate administrative tasks as required. E.g: photocopying, faxing, etc. Updating doctors’ lists and titles and creating new folders for medical staff. Communication with external sources to ensure data is accurate. Use the Dictation system to assign and prioritise dictated work. Use the Dictation system to assign codes to new doctors. Update the medical record tracking system for records requiring correspondence and file and loose paperwork in the appropriate section of the medical record. Use of online databases to locate GP details Use of internet search engines for work related purposes. Use of CPF (Clinical Patient Folder) for diagnostic reports relating to patients.
