Policy on Youth Volunteers at the ArtsWells Festival
1. It is Festival policy that all volunteers generally are between the ages of 14 and 18 and must be
the children of an active volunteer or be sponsored by an active adult volunteer who will take
responsibility for them.
2. All youth volunteers will be expected to fulfill duties in order to receive volunteer benefits.
They will be expected to conduct themselves appropriately.
3. Volunteers will be placed to the best of the volunteer coordinator’s ability but there is limited
space available and there are no guarantees of volunteers being placed.
4. Volunteers under the age of 16 will not be assigned to handle cash.
5. Volunteers under the age of 19 assigned to any venue where alcohol is served will be under the
responsibility of the volunteer coordinator but will not be allowed to sell bar tickets or serve
alcohol. They will not be able to be in the venue while not on shift unless supervised by a parent
or legal guardian.
6. All Youth volunteers who are not accompanied by their Volunteer Sponsor will be asked to leave
the Festival immediately if they are found drinking or conducting themselves inappropriately.
Volunteer Committees Open to Youth (14-18yrs.)
o Volunteer Hospitality: Help prepare and serve food to volunteers and performers* must be 15
years
o Children’s Activities: Face painting, prayer flags, children’s workshops
o Information Booth: Selling programs at the entrance gate *must be 16years
o Volunteer/Performer Check-in: assisting volunteers and performers when they come to the
festival site *must be 16 years
o Raffle Ticket Sales: Selling tickets to the public *must be 16 years
o Survey: Getting feedback from the public and having them sign our guestbook, collecting artists
signatures for posters and signing our guestbook.
Waiver for Volunteers Aged 14 to 18 Years – to be filled in by sponsor/parent/guardian
