INDIANA STATE FAIR TERMS AND CONDITIONS
1. Each contestant must be at least 16 years of age and not older than 22 years of age as of June 1, 2016 to compete in the
2016 Wayne County Queen Contest. You must be 18 years of age to participate at the Indiana State Fair.
2. Crowning of the 2016 State Fair Queen will be held (TBA), 2016. The reigning 2015 Wayne County 4-H Fair Queen
will be expected to participate. Due to the timing of the contest, please notify the Queen Committee of any conflicts.
3. She must be an Indiana resident, a U.S. citizen and represent their home county. One of the contestant’s parents or
legal guardians must also be an Indiana resident. The only exception: the contestant may reside in an adjoining Indiana
county in the majority of their activities are in the county in which they enter the contest.
4. No professional model is eligible for the Indiana State Fair Queen Pageant. (A professional model is one who earns a
livelihood by modeling.) A contestant who has had training or schooling in the modeling field, has been paid on occasion
for modeling or works for a fashion board is not considered a professional model.
5. Any contestant who has competed in the Indiana State Fair Queen Pageant cannot compete again.
6. Transportation for the contestant to and from the Indiana State Fair Queen Pageant will be the responsibility of each
contestant.
WAYNE COUNTY QUEEN RULES
1. On Saturday, June 13th at the private judging, beginning at 8:30 a.m. contestants will be judged in professional
wear and in an interview. Professional wear is a suit or dress.
2. On Saturday evening, June 13th, contestants will be judged in formal evening attire. The Queen Committee should
be consulted for appropriate selections. Also, all contestants will appear in professional wear for the evening
public presentation. All judging and the evening public pageant on June 34th will occur at Centerville High
School.
3. Contestants must be sponsored by a recognized organization or business. Applications must be completed and
sent to: Amy Fouche, 5015 N. Round Barn Rd, Richmond, IN 47374.

An entry fee must accompany the application form, (see form for rates). The sponsoring organization or
business will pay the entry fee by check or money order payable to: Wayne County 4-H Queen Committee
5. It’s highly suggested that each contestant attend the following: Orientation and workshops: Orientation –
May 17th 2:00 p.m., Workshops – TBA. In the event of illness or conflict, the contestant is expected to contact
the contest committee.
6. No previous county 4-H Queen is eligible to participate again.
7. The judging on Saturday morning, June 13th is private. The evening judging and crowning is open to the public.

No mother, relative or friend may be in the dressing room during any of the judging activities or the contest.

Judges and Awards
1. Two to Three judges will be named by the committee and their decision will be final.
2. One contestant will be selected to reign as Queen.
3. Suitable cash or merchandise awards will be presented to the Queen, first alternate, and second alternate, Ms.
Congeniality and the Professional Wear winner.
4. The public judging and crowning of the Queen will take place on Saturday, June 13th at 7:00 p.m., at Centerville
High School. Admission is $1.00 per person. Contestants will receive 2 free admissions.
5. Judging will be on the basis of poise, posture, ability to converse, stage presence, overall impression, and
personality.
The judging is divided into three divisions:
Division I – PROFESSIONAL WEAR
Attire: Suits, including pant suits or dress (Total 20 points)
Posture and poise – 10 Points
Overall Impression – 10 Points
Division II – INTERVIEW
Each contestant will have five (5) minutes before the judges. She will answer impromptu questions asked
by the judges. (Total 50 points)
Ability to converse – 20 Points
Personality – 15 Points
Poise – 15 Points
Division III – EVENING GOWN
Attire: Long Evening Gown
At least one portion of the evening gown’s hemline needs to be floor length (touching the floor
or the contestant’s foot). Gown’s with the skirt split above the knee (more than 2 inches
above the kneecap) And/or a low cut bodice will be discounted by the judges. (Total 30 points)
Stage Presentation/Overall Impression – 15 Points

Duties of Wayne County 4-H Queen, Alternates and Miss Congeniality
1. The Wayne County 4-H Queen will reign during the 2015 4-H Fair and until a new queen is selected the
following year. She will take part in the fair activities, i.e., presenting awards to exhibit winners,
fashion revue winner, etc. Alternate(s) and Miss Congeniality are also required to participate in fair
activities during the week. A schedule will be given to the queen, alternate(s), and Miss Congeniality the
evening of the contest or soon thereafter.
2. The Wayne County 4-H Queen will be requested to participate in the “County Queens Day” at the 2016 Indiana
State Fair. Date to be determined.
3. The State Fair Queen Pageant requires you to attend Friday-Sunday, TBA, 2016, accommodations are provided
by the State Fair Queen Committee.
4. The Wayne County 4-H Queen, and her court, will be requested to participate in the Hagerstown Jubilee Days,
Centerville Archway Days, Cambridge City Canal Days, Fountain City Levi Coffin Days, Richmond Holiday
Parade, 4-H Awards Dinner (hosted by Extension Office), 4-H Kick Off Night, and 4-H Appreciation Dinner
(hosted by Fair Committee).
