Khawaja Muhammad Asif born August 9, 1949 in (Sialkot), is a lawmaker and politician
Currently serving as the Federal Minister for Water and Power. Khawaja Muhammad Asif
previously served as the Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources, with additional portfolio
of Sports Ministry in the PM Yousaf Raza Gillani’s cabinet. He is renowned for his oratory skills
and denunciation of military intervention in the political domain.
Before getting into politics, Khawaja Asif lived in the UAE for many years, and worked in the
Bank of Credit and Commerce International. He quit and moved back to Pakistan in 1991,
shortly before the death of his father, and took his place in politics, standing from the same
constituency and city (Sialkot), and has won every election since 1991. In the 2008 general
election, he was elected for the fourth term as a member of the National Assembly on PML-N's
ticket. He was previously elected as an MNA for in the years 1993, 1997, 2002, 2008 and 2013.
He also served as a senator during years 1991–1993. In the Nawaz Sharif cabinet of 1997–1999,
Khawaja Asif held the portfolio of Chairman Privatization Commission, with the status of a
federal minister.
Khawaja Asif is the son of Khawaja Muhammad Safdar, an active politician of the Pakistan
Movement. A businessman and a banker by profession, he received B.A/L.L.B degrees from
University of the Punjab in 1970. Masters in Economics from LSE in 1975.

Ch. Muhammad BarjeesTahir ( born 20 April 1949
in Sangla Hill ) is a prominent national politician, parliamentarian[1] and a Federal Minister of Kashmir
Affairs and GilgitBaltistan in the 2013 Sharif-led cabinet from Pakistan Muslim League (N). A key Member
of Parliament in Pakistan and a lawyer by profession, he graduated with masters in Law and Political
Science from the University of the Punjab.
He started his political career from Lahore as a student activist. Later on he was elected as a member of
the National Assembly of Pakistan (MNA). He was elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan for the
terms of 1990–1993, 1993–1997, and 1997–1999, 2008-2013 and 2013 – present. At his tenure as MNA,
many social, economical, educational and infrastructure developments were carried out in Sangla
Hill and Sheikhupura. From 1990–1993, he served as Federal Parliamentary Secretary in the ministry of
interior duringNawaz Sharif 1990–1993 government. Later he served as a chairman of standing
committee of communication.

professional experience in audit profession, financial advisory, management consultancy, business,
commerce and industry, both in private and public sectors, in Pakistan and abroad.
Making a career start as a Trainee Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants
in England and Wales (ICAEW) in 1970, he became an Associate Member (ACA) of ICAEW in
1974, and of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) in 1975.His post-qualification
professional experience earned him Fellowship (FCA) of ICAEW in 1980 and of ICAP in 1984.
Subsequently, he also became a Fellow Member (F.P.A) of the Institute of Public Finance
Accountants of Pakistan. Currently, Senator Dar has been bestowed Life Membership of ICAEW in
January 2012.
After having worked as Director Finance of a British Textiles Group in London during 1974-76,
Senator Dar accepted an offer in 1976 of the Government of Libya, and joined as Senior Auditor in
the Auditor General Department at Tripoli.
On returning to Pakistan in December 1977, he became National Partner in a Chartered Accountants
firm, having offices at Karachi, Lahore and Rawalpindi, dealing with Tax, Corporate and Financial
Management, Audit and Consultancy matters of the clients, including public sector and public-listed
companies. In 1980, he became Financial Advisor to a multinational construction company having
operations in Pakistan, Libya, Iran, Iraq and Saudi Arabia.
From 1989 till 1997 (except when a Minister), Senator Dar acted as Chairman/Chief Executive and/or
Director of a Non-Banking Financial Institution (Public-Listed) in Pakistan.
From February 2002 till March 2008, he acted as Financial Advisor to a Member of the Ruling Family
of the United Arab Emirates. In addition, he has also served till date as Director of World Bank, Asian
Development Bank and Islamic Development Bank.
Senator Dar has been a Parliamentarian in the last 20 years, currently serving fifth term as Member
Parliament. He was elected Member National Assembly twice (1993–96 and 1997-99), and,
subsequently, for three consecutive terms, he has been elected Senator and appointed as Parliamentary
Leader of PML (N) in the Senate. His current term as Senator expires in March 2018.
He held first public office (1992 – 1993) as Minister of State/Chief Executive of Pakistan Investment
Board (PIB). He served as Federal Minister for Commerce & Investment (1997–1999). He was twice
Federal Minister for Finance, Economic Affairs, Revenue and Statistics (1998-99 and 2008).
Senator Dar Served as Convener (Punjab Government's Committee), National Finance Commission
(NFC). He was also Member of the Parliamentary Committee on Constitutional Reforms, which
finalized 18th, 19th and 20th Constitutional Amendments. He was also a Member of the
Parliamentary Committee on the Judges Appointment in the Superior Courts as well as Parliamentary
Committee on National Security. In Senate, Senator Dar has held the important portfolio of Chairman,
Standing Committee on Industries and Production, in addition to working as Member of a few
Standing Committees, including Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and Planning &
Development, Commerce, Investment, Defence, Defence Production, Foreign Affairs, Kashmir
Affairs and GilgitBaltistan, Privatization and Employees Welfare Fund.He was also a Member of
Senate Finance Committee, Executive Committee of Senate Employees Welfare Fund and Board of
Governors, Pakistan Institute of Parliamentary Services (PIPS). In recognition of his Parliamentary
services, the Government of Pakistan conferred on him Nishan-e-Imtiaz (the highest civil award for
Pakistani nationals) in 2011.
Senator Dar's engagements on the political front go a long way back. Since late 1980’s, he has been a
Member of the Central Executive Committee of PML-N. He has also been President, International
Affairs, PML (N), since 2002.
He is a former President of Lahore Chambers of Commerce and Industry and former VicePresident/Council Member of ICAP. Currently, he is Chairman of Board of Governors, University of
Health Sciences, Punjab, which has been ranked Number 2 among top medical universities in Pakistan
by the Higher Education Commission. Senator Dar's praiseworthy contributions to the social sector
are rooted in his humanitarian and philanthropic zeal and commitment, which is the driving force
behind the two charitable trusts that he heads and runs in the name of Hajveri Trust and Hajveri
Foundation. While the former is widely known as a shelter home for over 100 orphans, who are being
provided complete boarding, lodging and educational facilities for the last many years; the latter
institution has been actively involved in arranging pool marriages of destitute couples, helping needy
students through scholarships and financial assistance, and providing medical assistance to nonaffording patients requiring dialysis and other medical treatment.
Senator Dar also holds the unique distinction of being the biggest individual donor who provided
assistance to the victims of the cataclysmic earthquake that devastated the northern areas of Pakistan
in 2005, and also to those Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) affected by the ravaging flash floods
that swept through the country in 2010 and 2011.
Senator Dar was Leader of the Opposition in the Senate of Pakistan from March 2012 till 4th June,
2013. He assumed the charge of the Minister for Finance, Revenue, Economic Affairs, Statistics and
Privatization on June 7, 2013.

SHAHID KHAQAN ABBASI

Shahid Khaqan Abbasi born 27 December 1958 is an electrical engineer, and a politician.
He served as the Federal Minister for Commerce in 2008. He is the Founder and CEO of
Airblue, he also served as Chairman and CEO of Pakistan International Airlines from 1997
to 1999.
Abbasi got his early education from Lawrence College, Murree. He then attended the
University of California, Berkeley, where he obtained the Bachelor of Science in Electrical
Engineering. He went on to obtain Masters in Electrical Engineering from George
Washington University, Washington, D.C. Abbasi worked as a professional engineer in the
United States and the Middle East during the 1980s.
He is politically affiliated with the PML-N, where he is a senior leader. He is the son of Air
Commodore (retd) Khaqan Abbasi, a prominent politician who was a pilot in the Pakistan
Air Force and the Federal Minister for Industries and Production in the 1980s. Shahid
Khaqan Abbasi has built the Murree-Kahuta and Kotli Sattian area as their political
stronghold; he won the general elections in 1988, 1990, 1993, and 1997, 2008 and the
latest one being in 2013. From 1990 to 1993, he performed his duties as the chairman of
National Assembly Standing Committee on Defense, In General Election 2013 he is again
elected as member of National Assembly and appointed as Minister of Petroleum and

Ms. Anusha Rahman Khan is politically affiliated with PML-N and was elected for the first time

Mr. Sartaj Aziz is a development economist and obtained a degree in commerce from the Punjab
University in Pakistan and subsequently a Masters’ degree in development economics from
Harvard University, USA in 1963.
His career can be divided in four phases: The first phase as a civil servant lasted from
1952 to 1970 in the Ministry of Finance and in the Planning Commission, where he was Joint
Secretary, Plan Coordination from 1967 to 1971, and received the award of Sitara-e-Khidmat for
his contribution.
In 1971, he began his 12 year international career, when he joined FAO as Director of
Commodities and Trade Division in Rome. In 1974, he served as Deputy Secretary General of
the World Food Conference, held in Rome in November 1974 and was one of the architects of
the global food security system which emerged from the Conference and of the proposal to
establish the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD). In 1977, after serving as
Deputy Executive Director of the World Food Council for two years he was Assistant President,
Policy and Planning at IFAD from December 1977 to April 1984.
The third phase of Mr. Aziz career started in 1984 when he returned to Pakistan to begin
his political career as Minister of State for Food and Agriculture, a position he occupied for four
years. He served as Finance Minster from August 1990 to June 1993 and again from February
1997 to August 1998. He was Pakistan’s Foreign Minster from August 1998 to October 1999. He
was elected to the Pakistan Senate in March 1985 and remained its member till October 1999.
In 2004, he started the fourth phase of his career, when he accepted the offer to become
the Vice Chancellor of the Beaconhouse National University at Lahore. BNU has made
remarkable progress under his leadership in the past 9 years to become one of the leading liberal
Art University of the country.
In June 2013, Mr. Aziz resumed his political career, when he joined the Cabinet as Prime
Minister’s Adviser on National Security and Foreign Affairs.
Mr. Aziz has written several books and articles. His most important contribution to
development literature was his book on China, “Rural Development: Learning from China”,
which was published by Macmillan from London in 1978. His memoirs entitled “Between
Dreams and Realities: Some Milestones in Pakistan’s history”, were published by the Oxford
University Press in August 2009.

The newly appointed Special Assistant to the Prime Minister belongs to a well-known Sufi
family, with his father, the late Professor Syed Alay Mohammad Abdur Rauf Fatemi, a wellknown
educationist

Pakistan.
A career diplomat for over 35 years, he held various diplomatic assignments in Pakistan
Missions abroad, including Moscow (twice), New York, Washington (twice) and Beijing. He
was Additional Foreign Secretary, (Americas and Europe Divisions) and later worked in the
Prime Ministers Office, in charge of Defense, Defense Production and Foreign Affairs. In 1999,
he was promoted to the highest rank in the country’s civil service, that of a Federal Secretary.
A delegate to the UN General Assembly Sessions from 1982 to 1986, he also attended
numerous Non-Aligned and OIC Conferences, while also being a member of the UN sponsored
Geneva negotiations on Afghanistan.
He served as High Commissioner (Ambassador) of Pakistan to Zimbabwe, with
concurrent accreditation to Angola, Botswana, Namibia and Zambia. Later, he served as
Ambassador to the United States, Jordan, Belgium and Luxembourg and finally, to the European
Union (Brussels), from where he retired in 2004.
On retirement, he joined the Pakistan Muslim League (N), assisting the Party on foreign
policy matters. He also taught at the Foreign Service Academy, the National Defense University,
the Administrative Staff College and other institutions. He was also a Consultant with a major
private sector energy and power company, while writing weekly columns for five years for the
daily “Dawn” and later for the daily “The Express Tribune,” on national security issues. He is
also a co-author of the Brookings Institution’s book: “The Future of Pakistan”.
The Special Assistant will enjoy the rank and status of a Minister of State. He is married
with four children and four grandchildren. He is fluent in Russian and Bengali.

Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi belongs to a prominent political and agriculturist Jatoi family of
Sindh. Jatoi family has been in politics for last four generations and played a significant role in the
political development of the country. Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi’s father Ghulam Mustafa Jatoi, besides
holding other important political positions, served as Caretaker Prime Minister of Pakistan in 1990.
Murtaza Jatoi got his early education from Grand Folks School and St. Patrick’s College. He did his
Graduation and Masters from Sindh University. He is an MNA from NA-211 Naushehro Feroze.
Ghulam Murtaza Khan Jatoi is a veteran politician and is in active politics since three and half
decades. He has been elected member of National Assembly thrice and member of Sindh Assembly
twice. He has served twice as a federal minister and thrice as a provincial minister in Sindh Government.
Mr. Jatoi’s illustrious political career started when he was elected as Chairman District Council, Nawab
Shah in 1979. He was elected as a Member of Provincial Assembly of Sindh from 1988-1990 and served
as Minister for Local Government. He was elected as Member of National Assembly in 1990 and served
as Federal Minister for Communications from 1990 to 1992. He also served as Federal Minister for
Overseas Pakistanis in 1993 for a brief period. Mr. Jatoi was again elected as member of Sindh Assembly
in 1997 and served as Minister for Irrigation. He held the office of Advisor to Chief Minister of Sindh on

Kamran Michael is a Pakistani politician and member of the cabinet in Punjab. He belongs to
the Christian community.
Mr. Kamran Michael son of Mr. M. L. Michael was born on October 9, 1973 in Lahore. He earned
his B.A Degree in 1995 from University of the Punjab, Lahore. Later, he took on Business as profession,
whilst serving as Member of District Assembly Lahore during 2001-02; owing to his popularity he

Holy Qur’an, a biographer of the Holy Prophet (Peace be upon him), a jurist, an educationist and
Honorable Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan along with famous Suhrawardy saints namely
Hazrat Shaykh-ul-Islam Sadr-ud-Din Arif and Hazrat Ghaus Bahauddin Zakariyya of Multan.

Darul uloom Muhammadia Ghousia:
Managing a network of educational institutes by the name of Darul uloom Muhammadia
Ghousia established by the forefathers in Bhera, Sargodha - Pakistan by introducing
revolutionary changes in the syllabi of religious education by teaching modern contemporary
subjects along with religious education way back in year 1925.
Darul uloom is running this system spread over the whole of the Pakistan as well as in Europe,
United Kingdom and United States of America from a spacious main campus building
constructed near the Khanqah Hazrat Ameer ul Saalekeen [Rhe]. Darul uloom have 54 Male, 49
Female branches with total strength of 500 Faculty Members and 25,000 Male and Female
Students. These students are receiving free education including the text books as well as free
boarding, lodging and food.
Degree:
The degree granted by Darul uloom is equivalent to M.A. (Arabic & Islamic Studies). This
institution possesses a unique position among the religious institutions of the country. A
number of alumni of "Darul Uloom Muhammadia Ghousia” are serving the nation as
lecturers/Professors/ (Arabic & Islamic Studies) in government as well as in private
institutions. A number of religious scholars are working as Khateebs in Auqaf and Pakistan
Armed Forces after completing their education from this prestigious institution. The services
rendered by this institution have been acknowledgment by Islamic scholars. A thesis has
been presented in Islamic Studies Department University of the Punjab Lahore for the
Degree of M.A. (Islamic Studies) regarding “Darul Uloom Muhammadia Ghousia” and
another thesis about Justice Hazrat Pir Muhammad Karam Shah Al Azehri [Rhe] for
M.A. (Arabic) degree.

Lieutenant-General (R) Abdul Qadir Baloch is a Pakistani politician and
Retired Pakistan Army general who served as the Governor of Balochistan in 2003 and is currently an
elected parliamentarian in the National Assembly of Pakistan (MNA) from his constituency in Quetta. He
is affiliated with the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N) political party. He holds the distinction of
being the first ethnic Baloch army general in the Pakistani military.
Earlier, he served as the Corps Commander of Quetta before retiring prematurely to take up the post of
governor. During his army career, Baloch also commanded an infantry brigade in Muzaffarabad and
remained a General Officer Commander (GOC) at Murree, while commanding troops positioned along
the Line of Control in Azad Kashmir.[3] He has spoken extensively on political affairs and issues
concerning the Balochistan conflict in the province of Balochistan where he originally hails from, and has
been a long-standing advocate and campaigner for human rights across the country. In August 2011, he
was selected by his party chief Nawaz Sharif as the assistant secretaries-general of the PML-N. He was
elected as member of national assembly from NA-271 (Kharan-cum-Panjgur). He is being appointed as
Federal Minister for States and Frontier Regions.
