REGENT UNIVERSITY / CHRIST’S COLLEGE
Cooperative M.A. in Communication Program
REGENT UNIVERSITY / CHRIST’S COLLEGE Cooperative
M.A. in Communication Program
I. Introduction
Christ’s College (CC), Taipei, Taiwan, is cooperating with Regent University (RU), Virginia
Beach, Virginia, U.S.A. to offer 39 semester hours of work leading to a Master of Arts in
Communication. Two Regent University, School of Communication and the Arts courses (6
semester hours) and two transferable Cinema and Television courses (6 semester hours) will be
taken at Christ’s College in the first year, and the remaining hours (27 semester hours) will be
offered on campus at Regent University in the second year of the program. Regent University
will issue the M.A. degree upon successful completion of all program requirements.
II.
Purpose and Need
 Christ’s College graduates need opportunities for graduate study leading to a degree
recognized by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan. This cooperative program meets this
need.
 No known M.A. in Communication in Taiwan is taught from a Christian perspective. This
cooperative program will help to advance the cause of Christian higher education in Taiwan.
The goal is that students develop a philosophy of media professionals with Christian
commitment and service.
 The first year of study in Taiwan provides a buffer for students whose English competence
falls below the level indicated by a 577/233/90 (PBT/CBT/iBT) TOEFL score.
Christ’s College Communication majors would enter directly into Regent’s M.A. program, and
Christ’s College English students would also make this transition with a minimum of remedial
course work in Communication. English is the largest degree-granting program at Christ’s
College and Communication is one of the fastest growing departments on campus.
III.
About Christ’s College and Regent University
The distinctive purpose of Christ’s College is to provide Christian liberal arts education for
Chinese students. Christ’s College is a bilingual (Chinese/English) institution of higher
education, based on Biblical truth and dedicated to: (1) providing quality education to equip
students both in Christian character and professional abilities as life-long learners; (2)
evangelizing and discipling students in the Christian faith in a loving and nurturing
environment; (3) training students to go into the world and become change agents for Jesus
Christ and competent Christian leaders in the church and in the marketplace guided by a
1
Christian world and life view. Christ’s College is affiliated with the Council of Christian
Colleges and Universities (CCCU) in the U.S.A, since 1999. Christ’s College has been
granted candidate status for accreditation from TRACS (Transnational Association of
Christian College and Schools) in the U.S.A. in April 2003.
Regent University is a preeminent Christian university offering masters and doctoral degrees
from a Judeo-Christian perspective with a commitment to academic excellence and innovation,
Regent prepares men and women to make a positive impact upon American society and the
world. Twenty-five graduate degree programs are offered on the Virginia Beach campus, and
15 are being offered in the northern Virginia/Washington, D.C. area. Students may also pursue
20 degree programs via the Internet. The eight graduate fields of study offered at Regent
University include business, communication and the arts, psychology and counseling, divinity,
education, government, law, and organizational leadership.
IV. Program Overview
The Regent University/Christ’s College Cooperative M.A. in Communication Program (the
