Conventional techniques in designing parallel robots and similar mechanisms involve solving complex kinematic equations combined with an iteration process in order to eliminate singularities and other boundary restrictions. Singularities mostly relate to topological and architectural geometry of the mechanism. The work so far has included the establishment of the methodology for a multi-modal haptic interface, employing force feedback sensation, to rapidly identify regions of singularities for given 3D desired motion profiles in a particular application area. The robot’s effective work volume can then be determined. The designer will be able to experience and identify motion profile problems without the need in kinematic calculations. Potential application areas cover a wide range, but two different areas with current industrial support include the design of a novel exoskeleton for robotic human lower limb rehabilitation, and highly reconfigurable jigs for automated aircraft wing assembly. 4 Engineering Design/Prototyping/Preliminary test/Simulation Poster/image related to PhD research activities. 5 6 7 8 9 Specialization – List a) Built Environment. b) Virtual Reality. c) Remote Sensing d) GIS e) Programming f) Mobile g) Toy Development h) e-Learning i) Miscellaneous j) Engineering Details Design, Texturing, Modeling(using Max, Maya, Wavefront, Sketchup, Nendo) Design, Texturing, Programming(VRML,VRMLScript,X3D VB,CosmoWorld,3DRAD Brain script),Modeling(3DRAD,FPSC,VRML,CosmoWorld) Arc View, Erdas Imagine, PCI Geomatica, GIS SDK Arc View, GIS SDK 8051 C, VB, eVB, various scripting language, Python WAP, WML, Servlet, JSP, eVB, PocketC Python/VB (imaging, image-processing), LEGOrelated scripting software.
