1 2 Introduction Rangpur Army Medical Colleges is a government approved college run by Bangladesh Army.It is a teaching cum healthcare organizations. Establishment of this college will provide the students an opportunity to perform better in medical education in a separate and secured environment. This medical college will have research cell in each department with good facilities for graduates who can give more time in this field. The Major Areas of the College Activities Introduction to newly designed community oriented medical education including MBBS course. We have further plan for training courses of nurses, paramedical and medical social works, postgraduate studies, training and research leading to certificate, diploma degree and medical graduation. Location Rangpur Army Medical College is located at Rangpur Cantonment area, adjacent to Rangpur-Dhaka highway. Aim/Objectives Aim. The aim of the Rangpur Army Medical Colleges is to train medical students following the curriculum laid down by the Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council (BM&DC) for MBBS degree, to be awarded by Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP). Objectives. 1. To produce graduate fulfilling the national goal and objectives of the MBBS course as laid down by the BM&DC. 2. To provide a secured and disciplined environment in the campus, conducive to experienced and developing a sense of responsibility, social obligation and ethics. 3. To provide a quality teaching environment by induction of qualified and experienced faculty members, equipment and other facilities. 4. To provide arrangement necessary for healthy mental and physical growth. 5. To adopt an approach of five-party participation in developing teaching and learning environment (student, teacher, university, BM&DC and parents). 6. To arrange exposure of the students to scholars, society and other medical educational environment both home and abroad. 7. To create scope for rehabilitation with befitting jobs to retired members of the Army and dependents of deceased army personnel without compromising service requirement of the college. Affiliation This college is affiliated to BUP and recognized by BMDC. 3 College Campus Rangpur Army Medical College (RAMC) is a residential medical college under Bangladesh Army located at Rangpur Cantonment. At present composed of three departments (Anatomy, Physiology & Biochemistry) with specified academic manpower & equipment’s along with spacious academic campus. As per BM&DC guideline separate male and female dormitories are available very close to college campus. Both hostels are well decorated, comfortable with dining/common room facilities and safe for all medical students. A play ground is available adjacent to college campus. A common auditorium for the college is also located near to campus for conducting seminar and workshop including the social event. For future clinical attachment, this college is affiliated with 250 bedded Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Rangpur cantonment. It is also to be noted that a new 15 storied RAMC campus is now under construction near to present college campus and to be completed by June 2016. The new RAMC campus will have the capacity to hold 150 students in each year as per BMDC guideline. Hospital We have 250 (Two hundred fifty) bed functioning Combined Military Hospitals (CMH) at Rangpur cantonment involved in teaching. In future the hospitals will be upgraded as 500 (Five hundred) bedded hospital and shall be fully equipped with the department of Medicine, Surgery, Gynaecology and Obstetrics, ENT, Anaesthesiology, Radiology and Imaging, Pathology, Skin and VD, Paediatrics and Neonatology, Cardiology, Physiotherapy, Out Patient and Emergency Department will be independent unit attached to hospital. Medical College Facilities at a Glance Accommodation: Rangpur Army Medical Colleges is a residential institution. There are separate dormitories for Male & Female students close to the college campus. The students and their relatives have to follow regulations of cantonments. Messing: Medical students is provided with messing and allied services including laundry facilities. The messing, laundry and allied charges are paid by the students. Medical Facility: All medical students studying in Rangpur Army Medical College and graduate doctors from Rangpur Army Medical College doing internship will receive medical treatment (both outdoor and indoor) as per existing policy. Clothing: Medical students are issued with all necessary uniform and other supporting items, the cost of which are met out of outfit charge payable by the students. College Activities: Aim of Rangpur Army Medical Colleges are to develop a medical students into a complete person with qualities like human values and to produce better disciplined and skilled doctors for the national health care service. Emphasis is given to both curricular as well as extracurricular activities. It is enriched with adequate number of different types of professional books and journals. The library has a good collection of video films/audio cassettes and professional slides. The library has its own photocopier, computer and internet connectivity. Computers, pure drinking water system, adequate chair, table, book-shelf for journals are available. The library is well ventilated with adequate lighting arrangements. Students can draw books for hostel study. Library remains open from 8AM-9PM. Different types of newspaper are also available for all. The library is also maintaining website for its academic purpose. ADMISSION PROCEDURE Eligibility for Admission Candidates Must Fulfil the Following Requirements: 1. Age- Maximum 20 years on 1st July 2015. 2. Sex- Male/Female 3. Marital status- Unmarried 4. Nationality- Bangladeshi by birth 5. Educational qualification-Must have passed Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or their equivalent examinations having Physics, Chemistry and Biology in HSC or its equivalent. The Minimum Educational Performances are as Follows: 1. The students must have total GPA 8.00 & minimum GPA 4.00 in each of SSC & HSC or its equivalent examinations. 2. Candidates must have Grade point 3.50 in Biology in HSC or its equivalent examinations. 3. The candidates must be physically fit by medical board. 5 Procedure of Selection for students 1. Selection of student will be made strictly on basis of declared government policy. 2. All applications for admission will be processed centrally on line. 3. The Candidate shall pay TK 750/-(Taka Seven hundred fifty) as registration fee. 4. Admit card shall be issued online in time as mentioned in advertisement by AFMC. Written exam for Rangpur Area will be conducted under arrangement of RAMC. 5. Candidates will be selected as per their choice and merit. 6. All students will have to carry their “identity cards” when in college. 2. All students will have to attend the class with clean and calendared white colored aprons with their names plate on. 3. Smoking is prohibited in the college campus. 4. Pasting of posters on the wall of the college premises are prohibited and students involved in them are liable to be punished. 5. All types of demonstration, shouting in the college premises are prohibited and students involve are liable to be punished. 6. Students must behave properly with staffs, employees of the college. Acts of any misbehaviour is also a matter of indiscipline and liable for disciplinary action. 7. The students are expected to maintain the highest standard in the academic and private life. 8. Every student should have all the prescribed text books, dissecting instruments, medical equipments etc. The College will not supply these items to the student. 9. Leave-In case of any sickness or other unavoidable reason of non attendance, a written statement from the parent/guardian is to be presented to the teachers concerned, who in turn will submit it to the Chief Administrator for approval. 10. Cost of loss/damage to college property is liable to be realized from the students/students found responsible for the loss/damage for the college property. 11. Political activities will not be permitted in the college. All fees are to be paid by cross pay order/Bank draft drawn on any scheduled Bank payable to the Rangpur Army Medical College account office for which a college printed money receipt will be issued, signed by an account. 2. If any student fails to pay the fees in due time a fine of TK. 20.00 (Twenty) will be leaved for every day of delay.
