P R O G R A M
NRCP NATING MAHAL
Itaguyod ang NRCP
Itambuli ang kanyang layon
Sa ating bayan at bukas
Tayo’y maging tanglaw.
Sukatin natin ang mga panaginip
Sa tayog ng ating mga pithaya
Sa lalim ng ating pananalig
Ialay sa lahi ang ating biyaya.
Bawat dahon, katas at ugat
Bawat hayop, kulisap, at ibon
Bawat bundok, lawa at lambak
Ay duyan ng ating nasa’t layon.
Ang agham ng lipunan’t politika
Ang himaymay ng titik at atom
Diwa’t himig ang arte’t matimatika
Balangaw ng lahi sa pagsulong.
Magkawil bisig, taliba ng dunong
Manalig tayo sa bukal ng lupa
Sa daigdig ay aahon
Mag-alay sa samyo ng diwa.
Dunong ay lakas ng bayan
Landas sa kinabukasan
Ibandila ang NRCP
NRCP ay mabuhay.

Seminar Rationale
Organic agriculture is defined as an environmentally and socially
sensitive food system. Organic farming refers to methods of growing and
processing foods that rely on the Earth’s natural resources. Pests and
weeds are managed using earth-friendly means such as beneficical
insects and mechanical controls. Organic Farming has many benefits
including the following safe food, health safety for farmers, less
contamination with poisonous chemicals for our soil and water, use of
abundant and renewable local resources such as a wide variety of green
manure crops and leguminous plants for use as organic fertilizer, biopesticides, soil health, human health and lowering environmental stress.
This activity of the NRCP Biological Sciences Division aims to
promote organic farming as one potential program that will address the
sustainability of farming systems in the Philippines. The time is ripe for
organic farming to be promoted and supported by the policy making body
of the country.
Objectives:
After the Seminar, the participants are expected to:
1. develop and increase awareness on organic farming;
2. learn technical aspects of organic farming;
3. increase awareness on government support on organic farming;
and
4. learn marketing and certification requirements of organic
products.

Master of Ceremonies
To make the NRCP a more dynamic instrument of government,
promote its national character and expand the collegiality of NRCP to
include scholars/scientists in other parts of the country, Dr. Raul P. de
Guzman, then NRCP President, initiated the NRCP Outreach Program of
“Establishing NRCP Presence in the Regions”. In this Program, the
Council would undertake a series of projects and activities to bring about
more interaction between Metro Manila-based scientists and institutions
with scientists and institutions in the regions.
