LESSON 2
1. http://www.wilsonsalmanac.com/images1/anzac_po1.jpg taken from Google images that can legally
be used for educational purposes. This image show the culture and the propaganda surrounding
conscription.
2. http://www.azmetro.com/nzanzac.html again I took this image from Google images. I couldn’t find
any direct copyright so I have used it under Google images allowing for educational purposes. It is a
public domain document as it circulated frequently in ANZAC literature
3. http://www.theage.com.au/opinion/we-must-fight-free-of-anzac-lest-we-forget-our-other-stories20090422-afb7.html?skin=text-only This link is a credible link as it refers to an article from the Age. It
does have an advertisement to holiday accommodation but this site is appropriate for my students. The
EVALUATION OF THE IMAGES AND SITES USED IN THIS WIKI
scope and content of this link is directly related the issue of war being studies by my students. The
resource is appealing and clear . It gives an anti Anzac point of view. It doesn’t present alternative
arguments in a balanced manner it is primarily anti ANZAC The next site I chose was pro ANZC to
give students a more balanced perspective of the pros and cons for ANZAC celebrations.
4. & 5 http://www.thefreelibrary.com/Anzac+Day-a0144292964
http://www.nzhistory.net.nz/war/modern-anzac-day
These links present the issues from a NZ perspective. They are opinionated but basically accurate from
a pro & anti Anzac perspective
6, 7 & 8 are all quotes taken from http://www.antiwar.com/quotes.php. This site is
appropriate for students. It provides a mixture of pro war and anti war quotes. Each
quote is only accurate in the content in which it was meant but they have been used
by me to generalise principles that can apply to many different wars and time frames.
9. http://www.ahistoryteacher.com/wordpress/?p=198
This site links with a professional history teachers lecture. He could be considered
an expert on the subject. It tries to give a balanced perspective of the various issues.
It is very useful and relevant for my students to see how differing arguments
regarding war can be formulated and presented. This is very useful when
encountering a moral dilemma about war.
10. http://en.thinkexist.com/quotation/you-know-i-m-pro-troops-but-i-m-not-prowar/394518.html The quote itself is very relevant but the site is hindered by advertisements
that can be cumbersome. This distracts from it’s usefulness. To avoid copyright issues I have
sited this as my source. The advertisements do not contain inappropriate links for my
students.

from the war memorial which is an accredited professional agency dealing in
accurate publications associated with Australia’s war involvement. It is a
