Second, to help you develop your analytical powers. To this end, the course will cover essential building blocks needed to understand and analyze the impact of major government monetary, fiscal, and exchange rate policies on a country functioning in a global setting. However, you may be required to write a short report analyzing a current issue using theory & policy presented in the course. Current Economic/Business Issues/Events: Keep up on current domestic and global economic issues. A good daily source is the Wall Street Journal, both hardcopy and Internet Interactive World Wide Web edition. In addition, if not already doing so, you should access some of the numerous Internet websites that provide extensive current and historical data, articles, documents, etc., dealing with the subject of economic theory and government policy. You may also want to consult the Financial Times, The Economist, and CNBC-TV. Current issues and developments will be incorporated in class lectures and exams.
