N
Notes
1)
To avoid any disappointment / problems, please review ALL the House Rules, and Vehicle
Specifications with your Leaders, Volunteers, Youth and their parents.
2)
The Kub Kar MUST have been built during the CURRENT Scouting season, and the same
Kub Kar must be used for both racing and design challenge. (see House Rules # 13)
3)
“Vehicle Specifications regarding wheels (see Vehicle Specifications # 5)
4)
If a Cub is unable to attend PART OF THE KUB KAR FUN DAY, for other reasons (IE: hockey
tournament), they may have their Kub Kar placed in the care of a “TEST DRIVER”, who will be
in care of the Kub Kar for the portion of the day they are not in the Racing Facility. The Cub
must be there for a portion of the day to be able to qualify as a participant of Kub Kar Fun Day.
(see House Rules #5)
5)
If a Pack cannot send Leaders for the Day, but has youth that wish to race, please contact
the Coordinator, so we can make arrangements for them to attend & “buddy-up” with another
pack for the Day. That way they won’t miss the fun.
6)
If weather conditions dictate (snowy/slushy), it is recommended that everyone please bring
“indoor shoes” to wear inside the school, as we are using the gymnasium. Snowy, salty boots
will damage the floors.
7)
We are requesting that, on Kub Kar Fun Day, each group bring a cooler, labeled with your
Pack Name # that is large enough to hold the hot dogs they ordered for the lunch.
8)
Leaders are requested to go with their Packs, to the Cafeteria for lunch. At no time should
your pack be left un-attended in the Cafeteria.
9)
ANY Kub Kar built from the pre-shaped bodies or kits available at Scout House or other
locations are not eligible for design judging. One of the goals of building a Kub Kar is that the
youth build it from the traditional pine block, and therefore learn to use tools & techniques to do
the job. Using a “kit car” is taking a short-cut, and denying the youth the opportunity to learn &
build their Kub Kars from scratch, like the rest of the youth.
10) With regards to the crest design. If a youth’s design is picked and the colours are missing the
crest design judges will decide the colours for the design. In addition, if wording is missing on
the crest design, the crest design judges will decide where on the crest it will be placed. As
well, on occasions the crest manufactures can not put wording in particular place, in this case
the manufacturer will give the Kub Kar Fun Day Coordinator suggestions and the Coordinator
will make the final decision.
11) The top 5 cars from each track participate in the finals.

H
House Rules - 2013
FOR THE PURPOSES OF THIS EVENT & THESE RULES, THE WORDS “CUB” AND “DRIVER” ARE
DEEMED TO MEAN THE SAME.
1) Only pre-registered Cubs, or their pre-registered “Test-Driver” will be allowed to participate in the Kub Kar
Competition.
2) No lubrication will be allowed past the Registration Table. Anyone carrying any kind of lubrication will be
required to leave it at the Registration Table. No further lubrication is allowed, once the Kar has passed the
Registration Table.
At any time, BEFORE OR DURING THE RACING, if a fault or problem is detected with a Kub Kar (ie; added
lubrication, added weight, etc.), a ruling may be requested from the CHIEF JUDGE. The CHIEF JUDGE will then
examine the Kub Kar, and make a ruling. THIS RULING WILL BE FINAL. The maximum penalty that can be
assessed for an infraction will be FORFEITURE OF POINTS ACCUMULATED in that round, and re-classification
to “C”-FLIGHT.
3) Cubs must register at the Registration table, before Racing starts, in order to be qualified to race. The Kub Kars
must have a Registration number, attached at the Registration Table, and the driver (Cub) must have a Racing
License, with a corresponding number.
4) Cubs showing up late, after racing starts, will be able to participate in the Design Judging & Afternoon Events
only. Cubs showing up after the lunch break begins, will able to participate in the Events only.
5) Cubs must be present, in order to race their cars. The Cub will be responsible for handling their own Kub Kar
throughout the day. If a Cub is unable to attend PART OF THE KUB KAR FUN DAY, for other reasons (IE:
hockey tournament), they may have their Kub Kar placed in the care of a “TEST DRIVER”, who will be in
care of the Kub Kar for the portion of the day they are not in the Racing Facility. The “TEST-DRIVER” must
be a child of ANY AGE, who is not already racing or registered for this event. NO Adults, Leaders, or Other Kub
Kar Drivers will be allowed to run a Kub Kar for a Cub who is not able to attend during a particular portion of the
day’s event. All “TEST-DRIVERS” substitutions must be registered at least ½ hour before the racing starts.
6) Cubs may leave at any time during the day, when accompanied by a parent or responsible leaders. Cubs that leave
before racing or judging is complete, will forfeit their right to any respective awards. THE ONLY EXCEPTION will be
in the case of a “TEST-DRIVER” substitution, as outlined in Rule #5, above. All Cubs leaving the building, or
switching to/from a “TEST-DRIVER” should report to the scoring table in the gym, so we can keep track of
these changes and departures.
7) The Judges’ decisions are final with respect to all races, events, penalties, other rulings, and awards. No
appeals will be entertained.
8) Kub Kars MUST conform to the specifications, on the attached Vehicle Specifications sheet. The decision of
Inspection Officials is final. Minor adjustments to the Kars are allowed, at the discretion of the Fun Day Officials, as
are repairs due to damage to the Kar, however, they must be conducted at the “Pit Table” with a Pit Table Official
residing. However, the Kub Kar, and any such modifications are subject to RE-EXAMINATION by one of the
Inspection Officials before being allowed to race.
9) Viewing of the event is open to family and friends of the Cubs/Packs, and invited guests.
- ALL VIEWING MUST BE DONE FROM THE BLEACHERS. No one will be allowed on the area behind the taped
off racing zone, except Drivers (Cubs), Leaders/Volunteers running a track/event , Fun Day Officials, and
authorized parties. PLEASE, DO NOT sit/stand on the floor, in front of the tape barrier, as this blocks the view of
everyone else.
10) All leaders and participants shall be in full uniform for this event.
11) The Organizing Committee will be identified by the Black & White Checker Armbands.
12) Track officials/staff will also be identified by their track/event colour. (Blue, Pink, White, Green & Yellow)
…13 of 15
13) All Scouting Laws and regulations apply at this event. (Just a reminder: you need to have at least one
Leader/Volunteer for every 5 youth present at this event and a minimum of two adult wherever a situation may occur
that an adult might be alone with a Scouting Youth.)The Cub may build the Kar by themselves, or, with the help of an
adult. The Kub Kar MUST have been built during the CURRENT Scouting season, and the same Kub Kar must be
used for both racing and design challenge. The use of outside facilities, such as professional paint shops, artists’
facilities, engineering facilities, etc. is forbidden.
14) Any Kub Kars built from the pre-shaped bodies or kits available at Scout House or other locations, are not eligible for
design judging. One of the goals of building a Kub Kar, is that the youth build it from the traditional pine block, and
therefore learn to use tools & techniques to do the job. Using a “kit car” is taking a short-cut, and denying the youth
the opportunity to learn & build their Kub Kars from scratch, like the rest of the youth.
15) A special “PIT PASS” may be obtained for spectators requiring “barrier-free” access, to observe the racing &
events, from behind the tape barrier. These will be available from the scoring table. See one of the leaders
wearing the Bright, Orange neckerchiefs, and they will assist you to obtain a “PIT PASS”.
16) NO RUNNING is allowed in the school… ANYWHERE ! “Not in the gym, not in the halls, not on the floor, not
on the walls, Sam-I-am “… not ANYWHERE ! Please WALK, and prevent accidents and injury. Persons
disregarding this rule may be asked to leave.
17) We only have use of the gym & the cafeteria for this event. Areas beyond the roped-off barriers are OFF-LIMITS for
this event. DO NOT wander off, in the school. If we go into areas that we are not permitted to be in, we may not be
allowed back here next year.
18) PLEASE, put any garbage in the nearest garbage can, NOT on the floor. In the last few years, there has been a
large amount of garbage left under the bleachers in the gym. If this continues, we may lose the use of this facility for
this event.
19) Participants and spectators are expected to behave in a manner appropriate to an indoor Scouting activity.
*** LEADERS ***
Please explain these rules to ALL parties from your group.
(Youth, Leaders AND Parents)
Please be sure to bring with you a copy of the Scouts Canada
Membership Application for those youth & leaders who will be
present
