Admissions Criteria

To be considered for possible selection in the Summer 2014 Hill College LVN/Paramedic-ADN Transition Program you
must complete the following selection/testing criteria:
NOTE: The application process will begin September 1, 2013 and deadline February 15, 2014. All items listed below
must be completed before the deadline date of February 15, 2014.
NOTE: All college transfer course work needing evaluation must be submitted to the registrar before January 17, 2014.
The decision made by the registrar must be received in the Health Science Department before the deadline date
above.
______ Complete the general Hill College Admissions process refer to: http://www.hillcollege.edu
______Complete the ADN Transition (LVN/Paramedic) application via ADN application portal on Hill College
Blackboard. Candidates must successfully complete the dosage calculation/skills seminar process before given
access to the ADN application portal
______ Candidate must complete the Dosage Calculations with a 90% or higher. Contact either Julie Britton or Teresa
Palinkas for clearance to register for the dosage calculation test with the Hill College Testing Center.

NOTE: Candidates must successfully complete the dosage calculation test before moving forward with the
remaining portion of the skills demonstration component.
Successful completion of the Skills Demonstration Component (Skills Seminar) prior to the application
deadline date. Contact the Continuing Education Department at 817-760-5825 or 817-760-5826. The
Skills Component is mandatory and consists of (1) math dosage exam (2) medications administration (3)
IV insertion (4) foley insertion.
______ Complete the HESI A2 with CT (Critical Thinking); the student must call the Hill College testing center for an
appointment. Call 817-760-5814 (Cleburne) or 254-659-7816 (Hillsboro). Cost: $44.00
Minimum passing HESI scores Critical Thinking 800, Math – 60%, Reading – 70%, A&P – 60%
______ Submit a copy of license/certification for LVN/Paramedic
______ Complete the background check through Verified Credentials. Contact the Health Science office for the code
needed to complete this process. http://scholar.verifiedcredentials.com/hillcollege use code: BBKPC 26727. Cost:
51.00
**Any candidate with an eligibility issue per Texas Board of Nursing (BON) rules and regulations (see BON website at
www.bon.state.tx.us) must provide an approved declaratory order from the BON prior to entry into the nursing program.
Failure to disclose an eligibility issue prior to admission into the nursing program WILL result in dismissal from the
nursing program. **
______ 3 professional references (1–employer, 1 – nursing/EMS/academic faculty, 1- personal)
______ Submit a current Professional Resume
______Documentation that you are TSI Complete or Exempt (Must be determined by a Hill College TSI officer)
 NOTE: The student is required to contact the Hill College Academic Advisor and Student Success
Center to determine if they must complete further testing as required for general college
admission.

______ Submit all official college transcripts that document the completion of the following courses with a cumulative
GPA of 2.50 or higher:
 BIOL 2401 Anatomy & Physiology I (if older than 5 years contact the Health Science program)
 BIOL 2402Anatomy & Physiology II (if older than 5 years contact the Health Science program)
 BIOL 2420 Microbiology (if older than 5 years contact the Health Science program)
 PSYC 2301General Psychology
 ENGL 1301 English Comp I
 BCIS 1305 Business Computer Application
 PSCY 2314 Human Growth and Development
 Choose one of the following (prefer Algebra):
o CHEM 1406 Introductory Chemistry I (if older than 5 years contact the Health Science program)
o MATH 1314 College Algebra (preferred)
Note: It is the policy of Hill College, for any course re-retake, the most recent grade will stand.
______ Submit an official High School transcript or GED scores to the Hill College, Health Science Program, 2112
Mayfield Parkway, Cleburne TX 7603. BON Rule #217.4 a.1.(A) hold a high school diploma issued by an accredited
secondary school or equivalent educational credentials as established by the General Education Development Equivalency
Test (GED) (See TOEFL policy below)
TOEFL Policy
_____ TOEFL Policy: Students must demonstrate English proficiency as an admission requirement. This may be
demonstrated by one of the following:
1. Attended four years of high school in one of the 50 United States and receiving a diploma or
2. Attended two years of high school in one of the 50 United States and passed the GED or
3. Acceptable GED scores from one of the 50 United States and acceptable scores from the Test of
English as a Foreign Language Test (TOEFL) within the two years of the posted deadline date of
program application.
TOEFL Waiver: The student can request a TOEFL waiver form from the Health Science department if they
meet the following criteria: completion with a “C” or better of 4 different college level English
courses and 1college level communication course; from an accredited US college/university.
TOEFL minimum Internet score of 80 or a computer-based TOEFL score of 250 or a paper/pencil test score of
600. Scores will not be considered if they are more than two years old. TOEFL Test score reports must be
sent directly to the Health Science Department from the testing center. Information about the TOEFL may be
obtained from the web site: www.ets.org/toefl or by calling 1-800-468-6335.
______ Submit documentation that you are current and up to date on the following immunizations:
 2 – MMR’s
 Tetanus (within the last 10 years)
 Tdap (within lifetime as an adult)
 Influenza (Seasonal)
 Current negative TB or Chest x-ray
 Varicella immunity (documented by 2 Varicella vaccines or positive serum titer)
 Hepatitis B Series completed
 Meningococcal vaccine (New students under age 30 but over 17 years)
o The student must meet Hill College general admission requirements
 Current American Heart Association Health Care Provider (Must have hands on skills component)
