Program Requirements:
The Criminal Justice and Criminology major has a somewhat flexible curriculum. Before declaring the
major, students must take and pass Introduction to Criminal Justice (CJUS 1100) and Statistics (STATS
1222 or 1220 or 1221) with a C or better. If students have not taken these required courses, they may
declare a pre-major in Criminal Justice. Students may take foundational courses at the 2000 level before
progressing to the advanced (3000/4000) level courses. 3000 level courses and above may only be taken
when the student has completed 60 earned hours or more AND CJUS 1100 is completed. Students must
be majors before enrolling in CJUS 3100 CJ Theory and CJUS 3101 Research Methods. Students
interested in pursuing the CJ Transfer Learning Community, Justice Study Abroad or CJ Honors, should
contact the Department as early as possible.
