The GELS LLC is a student living and learning community that focuses on the following cornerstones:
 Developing a safe and supportive environment for all people at URI.
 Improving the campus climate.
 Addressing issues of equity.
 Exploring concepts related to gender and sexuality.
Undergraduate students living together in this LLC work on projects and attend community events which support
and reinforce our cornerstones. Our co-curricular purpose is founded in Gender and Women’s Studies, and our
community has strong connections to other inclusion related centers and initiatives on campus.
To ensure your continued success on campus and within the Living Learning Community you are expected to:
1. Complete at least 1 GWS or GWS affiliated course per year or petition approval of a course not listed.
2. Participate in at least 1 learning based project or volunteer experience through the Gender and Sexuality
Center.
3. Attend a Gender and Sexuality Center Safe Zone training.
4. Earn a Grade Point Average (GPA) of at least 2.5 each semester.
5. Establish involvement through attending events, programs, speakers, groups, or by maintaining
membership in a recognized campus club or organization.
6. Demonstrate commitment to residential community by attending at least 2 building programs or meetings
each semester.

apparent to me that I will be unable to fulfill any of the above expectations, I acknowledge that it is my
responsibility to reach out to the RAM in order to discuss alternative arrangements and/or consequences. I agree to
be held accountable to each of these standards and understand that these standards are in place to enrich my
personal and academic experience at the University of Rhode Island.
