Book One: The Trojans reach Carthage This document is the main working area for your study group. The aim is to build up everyone’s understanding of book one by breaking it up into scenes and simplifying / explaining what happens. Each scene is broken into more sections where you try and summarise the key points / ideas. To provide further guidance I have given clues to the sorts of info you need to include in each section. You can communicate in a number of different ways. It doesn’t have to be all typed. Someone could get creative and take a more visual approach and storyboard or use images to summarise (any budding artists?) or you could record an audio summary (so someone uses a headset and record themselves). Use something like http://www.podomatic.com and then copy and paste the link to your podcast into the relevant section below. No text needed. Beside each section you need to insert an image that represents the corresponding section. Use an image that helps to visually describe something that happens. I have provided a couple of examples to help you on your way. When you have a question insert a comment somewhere (click “insert” in the menu above and then click “comment”). Questions / comments could be to me to clarify something or to the rest of your group. Lastly - this is a group document not an individual one. You can share tasks around and spread the load by I strongly urge that you all work together to make the final document a good record of book one. You can then print it off and use it for exam preparation. Neptune Summarise his intervention and why he intervened Scene Two: The Trojans land on North Africa (30-33) Over the course of these pages Aeneas demonstrates his leadership skills. Note down some examples of this Scene Three: Jupiter’s Prophecy This is an extremely important part of book one. You need to have a clear understanding of the different parts to this rather lengthy prophecy. The best way would be to break it down into clear bullet points. Provide a couple of quotes here and there as well Scene Four: Aeneas and Venus Aeneas and Venus meet Describe their meeting and their early conversation. How is Venus disguised? The Story of Dido Another important story - summarise it The eagle and the swans See if you can explain the symbolism here Scene Five The Trojans in Carthage The building of Carthage Describe what sort of activities are going on in the building of Carthage.
