Chodosh is a physician-scientist who received a BS in Molecular Biophysics and Biochemistry from Yale University, and MD from Harvard Medical School, and a PhD. in Biochemistry from M.I.T. in the laboratory of Dr. Phillip Sharp. He performed his clinical training in Internal Medicine and Endocrinology at the Massachusetts General Hospital, after which he was a postdoctoral research fellow with Dr. Philip Leder at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Chodosh joined the faculty of the University of Pennsylvania in 1994, where he is currently a Professor in the Departments of Cancer Biology, Cell & Developmental Biology, and Medicine. He serves as Chairman of the Department of Cancer Biology, Associate Director for Basic Science of the Abramson Cancer Center, and Director of Cancer Genetics for the Abramson Family Cancer Research Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. Additionally, he is on the scientific advisory board for the Harvard Nurses' Health Studies I and II. Dr. Chodosh's research focuses on genetic, genomic and molecular approaches to understanding breast cancer susceptibility and pathogenesis. Aims and scope Breast Cancer Research is an international, peer-reviewed online journal, publishing original research, reviews, editorials and reports. Open access research articles of exceptional interest are published in all areas of biology and medicine relevant to breast cancer, including normal mammary gland biology, with special emphasis on the genetic, biochemical, and cellular basis of breast cancer. In addition to basic research, the journal publishes preclinical, translational and clinical studies with a biological basis, including Phase I and Phase II trials. Featured review: Breast cancer brain metastases In this review, Witzel et al. summarize the biology of breast cancer that has spread into the brain and discuss the implications for current and potential future treatment strategies. FEATURED THEMATIC SERIES - Lobular Breast Cancer This special series takes a translational view of lobular breast cancer, from bedside to bench and back. The second most common breast cancer subtype, lobular breast cancer displays many unique molecular and clinical properties. Leaders in the field explore the molecular biology, pathology, risk factors, imaging, treatment and prognosis of this breast cancer. Read the thematic series here Breast Cancer Research Image Competition Announcement 2016 We are happy to announce the launch of our new scientific breast cancer image competition, in partnership with the UK’s largest breast cancer charity, Breast Cancer Now.
