Approval of Agenda Information/Action A. April 20, 2007 SGA Agenda Secretary Rowley moved to approve the April 20, 2007 SGA Agenda. Senator Potter seconded. Motion passed with no discussion. Approval of Minutes Information/Action A. April 13, 2007 SGA Minutes Secretary Rowley moved to approve the April 13, 2007 SGA Minutes. Treasurer McRaney seconded. Motion passed with no discussion. V. President’s Report Information President Rowley welcomed everyone to the meeting. President Rowley wanted to remind everyone that the campaign speeches are today during the SGA meeting, and voting will begin next week, April 23rd-26th, and the results will be announced at the SGA Meeting on Friday, April 27, 2007 during public comment. Rowley also wanted to remind everyone that today is also Friday Follies-Softball, at 5 p.m. After Friday Follies, pizza will be at the Pizza Barn, and everyone is welcome to come. President Rowley also noted that Tuesday, April 24th at 7 p.m. is SGA Karaoke Night in Griswold Hall, and there is $200 in prizes. Cassie Collier and Jacqueline Lemback are the student leaders for Karaoke Night. President Rowley asked everyone to take a moment of silence in remembrance for those who were lost in the Virginia Tech shootings. Susan French from Winnemucca also presented her campaign speech via telephone during the President’s report. VII. Student Advocate’s Report Information Student Advocate Smith wanted to thank everyone for attending today’s meeting, and was very pleased by the attendance. Smith wanted to remind everyone to “get the vote out” for the SGA Elections next week. VIII. Treasurer’s Report Information/Action A. March 2007 SGA Treasury Report Secretary Rowley moved to approve the March 2007 SGA Treasury Report. Senator Potter seconded. Treasurer McRaney went over the March ending balances for each campus. Motion passed with no further discussion. IX. Branch Campus Reports Information A. Battle Mountain – No Report B. Ely – No Report C. Pahrump – No Report D. Winnemucca – Senator Metzler wanted to wish everyone running for an SGA office good luck. X. Committee Reports Information A. Facilities President Rowley reported that the Rec Room brought in $12.00 for this week and that Rocky volunteered to try and fix the broken television. XI. Unfinished Business None XII. New Business A. Winnemucca Graduation Information/Action Campus Director Heather Estes requests a cap of $350 to host a graduation party and to purchase key chains for the Winnemucca graduates on May 11, 2007 on the Winnemucca campus. Secretary Rowley seconded. President Rowley reported that this is an annual tradition for the Winnemucca campus. Student Advocate Smith reported that Heather Estes could not be at the meeting today because she is on her honeymoon. Motion passed with no further discussion. VI. B. Elko Graduation Information/Action President Rowley requests a cap of $900 to host a graduation party following the commencement ceremony on May 19, 2007 on the Elko campus. Battle Mountain Graduation Information/Action Senator Chambliss requests a cap of $400 to host a graduation party and to purchase graduation decorations for commencement 2007 on the Battle Mountain Campus. Secretary Rowley moved to approve a cap of $400 to host a graduation party and to purchase graduation decorations for commencement 2007 on the Battle Mountain Campus. Treasurer McRaney seconded. Senator Chambliss reported that the decorations they have are old and they would like to purchase new ones for the spring graduation. Motion passed with no further discussion. D. Battle Mountain Finals Information/Action Senator Chambliss requests a cap of $100 to host refreshments for finals on the Battle Mountain Campus. Secretary Rowley moved to approve a cap of $100 to host refreshments for finals on the Battle Mountain Campus. Senator Potter seconded. Senator Chambliss reported that the student’s really enjoy having snacks during finals weeks and it will be cookies, donuts, etc. Motion passed with no further discussion. E. PBL Institute for Leaders Information/Action President Rowley requests a cap of $1500 to help cover the transportations costs to send five PBL students to the Institute for Leaders in Chicago, IL in June 2007. Secretary Rowley moved to approve a cap of $1500 to help cover the transportations costs to send five PBL students to the Institute for Leaders in Chicago, IL in June 2007. Treasurer McRaney seconded. Marilyn Robinson reported that this request will help cover the costs of transportation for the PBL students. President Rowley reported that IFL is a part of the National PBL conference and that there is money set aside for this. President Rowley also noted that PBL is one of the most active clubs on the GBC campus. Motion passed with no further discussion. F. Winnemucca Easter Information/Action President Rowley requests $169.21 to cover the additional cost of the Winnemucca Easter Egg Hunt. Treasurer McRaney moved to approve a cap of $169.21 to cover the additional cost of the Winnemucca Easter Egg Hunt. Senator Potter seconded. President Rowley noted that the Winnemucca Easter Egg Hunt went very well, but they went over their approved budget. Motion passed; one abstention. G. Candidate Speeches Information Candidates for Student Government Association office will give their speeches. Candidates given speeches for SGA offices included: Ilona Summers, Andre LeSpade, Jose Torres, and Jake Vega. XIII. Items Laid on the Table None XIV. Issues and Concerns/Public Comment Information Senator Chambliss wanted to let everyone know they did a great job on their speeches, and that if any of the candidates want to see the branch campus’s their posters, she would be glad to hang them. Senator Potter wanted to remind everyone that the Aggies are planning a dinner dance and the tickets are $25. Treasurer McRaney noted that she is selling tickets for the dinner dance. President Rowley wanted to thank everyone in attendance for coming to the meeting, and she also noted that the election results will be on May 11, 2007 during the SGA meeting. Secretary Rowley moved to adjourn the meeting at 1:25 p.m. Senator Potter seconded. Motion passed with no further discussion. At the call of the President, public comments shall be heard by the SGA.
