Four AAA batteries for donation to the Math Department IB Math SL Formula Booklet Course Description This course is for students who possess knowledge of basic mathematical concepts, and who are equipped with the skills needed to apply simple mathematical techniques correctly. The majority of these students will expect to need a sound mathematical background as they prepare for future studies in subjects such as chemistry, economics, psychology and business administration. This is a 2-year course. The first year was Pre-Calculus/Trigonometry. At the end of this course you should master the following concepts: Algebra, Functions and equations, Circular functions and trigonometry, Vectors, Statistics and probability, Calculus Mathematical exploration Internal assessment in mathematics SL is an individual exploration. This is a piece of written work that involves investigating an area of mathematics. This course prepares students for the IB Math Standard Level exam. Food Light snacks are permissible. Nothing loud or smelly please. Also, also all drinks must have a lid that prevents spills. Cell Phones Cell phones are permitted to be used on homework and class-work, but not on any quizzes or tests. I reserve the right to collect cell phones per school policy if I suspect any disrespect or abuse of this privilege. Grading Graded assignments for this course will be recorded in one or more of the following categories. The final grade will be calculated on the basis of the indicated percentages. Grades are posted on Infinite Campus and updated regularly. Semester Final: 20% Unit Tests: 35% Homework: 15% Quizzes: 25% Citizenship: 5% Quizzes: Usually,you will have a quiz on Wednesdays. Homework: Late work is accepted at a 50% rate of exchange Citizenship: Five percent of your grade will be based upon citizenship. (Out of 100 pts) Attendance: Being on-time is critical to your success in my class. Every class starts at the bell with an academic activity. If you are tardy, you will miss this opportunity to learn and it will affect your grade. Per school policy, I take attendance at the beginning of class and the school attendance office calls home within ten minutes of the start of each class to report absences. PLEASE be on time.
