Vignan’s Foundation for Science, Technology and Research

Vignan’s University (VFSTR University), Guntur Dist.,
Andhra Pradesh for Library professionals in the region.
Library Professionals, LISc Students, Faculty Members and
Research Scholars will largely get benefited from this
workshop.
WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES

The main objectives of DELNET workshop are to enable the
participants to get knowledge of accessing to various eresources and online services provided by DELNET and thus to
provide expert assistance to users; to train the participants in
adopting Dspace: an Open Source Software for Building Digital
Library, Institutional Repository.

The Payment should be made either through a DD in
favour of “DELNET” payable at New Delhi or by cash
on the spot.
WORKSHOP COVERAGE
ABOUT THE LIBRARY
The artistically designed octagonal shaped library with more
than 60,000 volumes, plenty of audio- visual materials &
about 3044 national & international journals, is indeed a rich
repository of knowledge facilitating prospects for future
research. The Library building is completely air-conditioned
with a seating capacity of about 600 students. A separate
enclave is provided for research students. In addition, a
reading room facility is also provided for the convenience of
students. The Library is being managed with a fully integrated
multi user Library Management Software. Using this software,
cataloguing as well as circulation services have been fully
automated. A digital library is also maintained. It is an online
archive of useful software, books and tutorials. Students can
download any permitted software from this resource. There
are many textbooks and reference books available in the
digital format as well. Many lectures have also been recorded
and are available online for students' use. Most courses
maintain an intranet site containing lecture slides and other
course material. The library has an excellent digital library
system in place with access to 3 world-class electronic
databases, which include more than 2922 e-journals like
ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers) online journals,
ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) journals,
Springerlink, JSTOR, EBSCO, J-Gate and IEL (IEEE/IEE
Electronic Library), journals with multi user accessibility. The
library is an institutional member of DELNET(Developing
Library Network), INFLIBNET (Information and Library
Network.

BENEFITS OF ATTENDING THE WORKSHOP
Participants will learn about making effective use of the
DELNET online services; ILL/ DDS Services, etc.
The Participants will get the knowledge of how to help users
to access e-resources for their higher studies and research
work and to develop adequate skills for catering to the
growing information needs of the users.
Participants will be trained in using Dspace: an Open Source
Software for Building Digital Library, Institutional Repository.
No TA/DA will be paid to participants by DELNET or
Vignan’s University for this purpose.
The Participation Certificates will be given to the delegates.

has the train network from all over the India. It is around 45 km
by road and has bus and taxi facility. It is an hour drive from
railway station to the campus. Another junction very near to the
Campus is Tenali junction. From Tenali by road it takes 20 mins
to reach the campus.
