Canada-Ontario Job Grant (COJG) Application Assessment Considerations Tool The Application Assessment Considerations Tool is for use by both Ministry and COJG Service Provider staff. Background The Canada-Ontario Job Grant guidelines outline the following strategic priorities: Supporting Unemployed Individuals: Employers are committed to the hiring and training of unemployed individuals to fill their job vacancies. Supporting Job Creation: Employers use the Grant to support expansion of their workforces. Increased Job Quality: The Grant supports permanent, sustainable full-time jobs Job Advancement: The Grant enables incumbent workers to remain in their current positions, or for incumbent workers to take new positions within the business that offer greater responsibilities and/or rates of pay. Assessment of Applicant’s Training Request Against Strategic Priorities The following are some questions for consideration when trying to assess how the information provided by employers on the COJG application addresses the program’s strategic priorities: Supporting Unemployed Individuals: - New Hires (position title, salary and number of hours) position title salary number of hours (can determine part-time and full time) - Will new hires be paid during training? Supporting Job Creation: - How many new staff will be hired upon completion of training? - How many positions will increase from part-time to full time as a result of the training? - Will this training respond to the Labour Market needs of the community? Increased Job Quality: - How many layoffs will be avoided with this training? - Will incumbent staff be paid during training? - How many positions are seasonal? Job Advancement: - How many employees will be in a more advanced occupation, as a result of the training? - How many employees will see an increase in wages, as a result of the training? Each application must meet all the eligibility requirements to be considered for funding. In situations, where there are budget pressures that limit the number of proposals that may be supported for funding, the Ministry and the COJG Service Providers may use the following Funding Decision Considerations to assist in determining priority for funding.
