It is responsible for administering Ontario's Environmental Assessment Act, which applies to the planning of public sector projects and some private sector projects; reviewing and approving technical applications under the Ontario Water Resources Act and Environmental Protection Act for new or modified waste, wastewater and sewage facilities, or facilities which may emit a contaminant, including noise, to the air; monitoring, through an audit and acknowledgement process, compliance. What can I expect to do in this role? You are able to: Review and evaluate applications, engineering designs, specifications and other submissions for applications and projects that have known or predictable environmental impacts for wastewater, air and waste projects; coordinate comments related to the approval of these facilities for their compliance with the Ontario Water Resources Act (OWRA), and Environmental Protection Act (EPA), Environmental Bill of Rights, regulations and Ministry policies, guidelines and requirements; Prepare and review reports and Environmental Compliance Approvals with associated terms and conditions for review. Provide program and technical support, information and assistance to regional, legal and other Ministry staff. Prepare correspondence, briefing notes, Minister’s letters and other documents on matters relating to approval matters and the approvals program for reviews and approvals.
