By administering the Fire Protection and Prevention Act, 1997, the OFM supports the functions of municipal fire departments through a variety of advisory, training and instructional programs. What can I expect to do in this role? In this role, you will provide advice and assistance on all aspects of fire protection engineering, including the four principles of fire protection, public education, prevention and investigations, to the Office of the Fire Marshal and to its clients, using sound engineering principles, in the capacity of the OPS Internship Program for Internationally Trained Engineers. How do I qualify? Qualifications: Good written and verbal communication skills to generate technical reports, provide code advice and effectively interact with others. Sound judgement in evaluating problems, assessing level of risk and consequences of fires, reviewing and evaluating design. Satisfied Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) academic and technical requirements for licensing except for the minimum 12 months of verifiable and acceptable engineering experience in a Canadian jurisdiction, under the supervision of a professional engineer licensed in the jurisdiction in which the work was undertaken.
