Head of Research
Business & Human Rights Resource Centre
Dear Mr. Regaignon:
Thank you for your email of December 4th; we appreciate the opportunity to respond. Certainly, we share
the concerns over the humanitarian crisis occurring in Darfur and have great empathy for the people of
the region.
We recognize the need for swift resolution and agree with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that
complex international relations issues like the situation in Darfur are best solved by the United Nations
and the individual governments involved. We are encouraged by the recent peacekeeping developments
implemented by the U.N. and look forward to further positive progress.
Lenovo is committed to being a responsible and active corporate citizen in the many countries in which
we do business. As a sponsor of the Olympic Games and an international company with employees
worldwide, we are continuously working with our employees and local communities to improve quality of
life for those both close to and far from home.
The Olympic Games are a force for peace and unity in a divided world. The ideals of the Olympic
movement mirror the core values of our company: globally competitive, multi-cultural, innovative,
collaborative and performance-driven. (For more information, please visit the Social Responsibility section
(at “About Lenovo”) of our corporate website at www.lenovo.com.) We are proud to be a global Olympic
sponsor, to help open doors between people and nations, and to help share the spirit of the Games with
as many people as possible.
Again, thank you for the opportunity to respond. Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you have
further questions.
Sincerely,
Julie K. Gottlieb
