SOLAR PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEM
SMA Sunny Boy 2500 Inverter (Grid Intertie)
Sharp PV Panels (1000 Watts on a roof and 2000 Watts on a pole)
Wattsun Tracker, on a Steel Pipe, 8 inch diameter
First Operation: 2003
Clallam County’s first utility grid tied solar photovoltaic system appeared on the scene in
2003. The high voltage DC system includes a portion of the PV panels on a utility shed
developed by a Olympic Energy Systems, Inc. partner, who also installed the pole.
The owners attended an Energy Management workshop in 2002. They were to later build
an energy conserving (and energy generating) home in Sequim in 2003, in fact, after the
PV system was placed in operation. The home has a radiant floor heating system,
Structural Insulated Panels (SIPs), and solar hot water collectors of the evacuated tube type.
Olympic Energy Systems, Inc., as consultant to the owner, selected Power Trip Energy
Corporation for developing the system, who in turn selected Puget Sound Solar for the
electrical installation. Olympic Energy Systems emphasizes energy awareness,
conservation, and efficiency measures first and foremost.
