SOCIALS STUDIES 9
2013 FINAL EXAM ESSAY QUESTIONS
Students are required to answer ONE of the following questions on their final exam.
Questions are distributed beforehand to the students approximately one month
before the exam.
Students will be expected to individually prepare to write a well-organized essay
that answers all parts of each question. Estimated completed essay length should be
2 to 3 sides of foolscap written on every line.
The final exam essay will be worth 15% of the course and will be graded using the
Provincial Exam Essay Rubric (6 point scale).
1. Assess the causes and results (social, economic, and political) of
the French Revolution.
2. Explain the start of the Industrial Revolution and evaluate the
effect it had on society and the nature of work.
3. Assess the purposes and results of both the French and English
explorations and colonization of North America.
4. Assess the causes and impact of the English Civil War.
5. Compare and contrast the French and British approach to the fur
trade and their relationship with the Aboriginal people of North
America.
