The Final Chapter: Chapter 24

Standard W 8.3 - Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using
effective technique, relevant descriptive details, and well-structured event sequences.
Task: You will write an additional chapter that will serve as an alternative ending to the novel. It
must align with the Lowry’s original theme, characters, plot, and setting. Make sure it is connected
to the more immediate previous events in the novel as well as the tone and mood of Chapter 23.
What you write for chapter 24 should be a logical addition to the events thus far; in other words,
nothing completely absurd or irrational that wouldn’t directly connect to the events of chapter 23.
In addition, your chapter should include at least two (2) different signposts. You will need to
designate which signposts you use and where within your chapter, by writing its abbreviation in
the margin closest to its location. Lastly, your final chapter must exhibit correct sentence structure
and paragraph formation, as well as correct spelling and punctuation.
