1. Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP) candidates are required to pass one current Microsoft
certification exam that provides a valid and reliable measure of technical proficiency and expertise (a
current exam is any that has not been retired).
2. The Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) credential is the premier certification for
professionals who analyze the business requirements and design and implement the infrastructure for
business solutions based on the Microsoft Windows 2000 platform and Microsoft server software.
Implementation responsibilities include installing, configuring, and troubleshooting network systems.
The MCSE Certification is appropriate for Systems engineers, Technical support engineers, Systems
analysts, Network analysts, & Technical consultants. MCSE candidates in the Microsoft Windows 2000
track are required to pass five core exams and two elective exams that provide a valid and reliable
measure of technical proficiency and expertise in solution design and implementation. These exams are
developed with the input of professionals in the industry and reflect how Microsoft products are used in
organizations throughout the world. The exams are administered by Prometric and VUE, independent
testing organizations with locations worldwide.

1) Exam 70-210: Installing, Configuring and Administering Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional
Candidates for this exam operate in medium to very large computing environments that use Windows 2000 Professional as a desktop operating system.
They have a minimum of one year's experience implementing and administering any desktop operating system in a network environment.
This certification exam measures your ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot information systems that incorporate Microsoft Windows 2000.
2) Exam **70-215: Installing, Configuring and Administering Microsoft Windows 2000 Server (1 of
3 core for MCDBA)
Candidates for this exam operate in medium to very large computing environments that use the Windows 2000 Server operating system. They have a
minimum of one year's experience implementing and administering network operating systems in environments that have the following characteristics:
Supported users range from 200-26,000+
Physical locations range from 5-150+
Typical network services and applications include file and print, database, messaging, proxy server or firewall, dial-in server, desktop management, and
Web hosting.
Connectivity needs include connecting individual offices and users at remote locations to the corporate network and connecting corporate networks to the
Internet.
This certification exam measures your ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot information systems that incorporate Microsoft Windows 2000
Server.
3) Exam **70-216: Implementing and Administering a Microsoft Windows 2000 Network
Infrastructure (1 elective for MCDBA)
Candidates for this exam operate in medium to very large computing environments that use the Windows 2000 network operating system. They have a
minimum of one year's experience implementing and administering network operating systems in environments that have the following characteristics:
Supported users range from 200-26,000+
Physical locations range from 5-150+
Typical network services and applications include file and print, database, messaging, proxy server or firewall, dial-in server, desktop management, and
Web hosting.
Connectivity needs include connecting individual offices and users at remote locations to the corporate network and connecting corporate networks to the

This certification exam measures your ability to install, manage, monitor, configure, and troubleshoot DNS, DHCP, Remote Access, Network Protocols, IP
Routing, and WINS in a Windows 2000 network infrastructure. In addition, this test measures the skills required to manage, monitor, and troubleshoot
Network Address Translation and Certificate Services.
4) Exam 70-217: Implementing and Administering a Microsoft Windows2000 Directory Services
Infrastructure
Candidates for this exam operate in medium to very large computing environments that use the Windows 2000 network operating system. They have a
minimum of one year's experience implementing and administering network operating systems in environments that have the following characteristics:
Supported users range from 200-26,000+
Physical locations range from 5-150+
Typical network services and applications include file and print, database, messaging, proxy server or firewall, dial-in server, desktop management, and
Web hosting.
Connectivity needs include connecting individual offices and users at remote locations to the corporate network and connecting corporate networks to the

This certification exam measures your ability to install, configure, and troubleshoot the Windows 2000 Active Directory components, DNS for Active
Directory, and Active Directory security solutions. In addition, this test measures the skills required to manage, monitor, and optimize the desktop
environment by using Group Policy.
PLUS 5) Exam 70-221: Designing a Microsoft Windows 2000 Network Infrastructure
Candidates for this exam operate in medium to very large computing environments that use the Windows 2000 network operating system. They have a
minimum of one year's experience designing network infrastructures in environments that have the following characteristics:

Physical locations range from 5-150+
Typical network services and applications include file and print, database, messaging, proxy server or firewall, dial-in server, desktop management, and
Web hosting.
Connectivity needs include connecting individual offices and users at remote locations to the corporate network and connecting corporate networks to the
Internet.
This certification exam tests the skills required to analyze the business requirements for a network infrastructure and design a network infrastructure that
meets business requirements. Network infrastructure elements include: Network topology, Routing, IP addressing, Name resolution such as WINS and
DNS, Virtual private networks, Remote access, and Telephony solutions
ELECTIVE
6) Exam **70-029: Designing and Implementing Databases with Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 (1 of 3
core for MCDBA)
When you pass this exam, you achieve Microsoft Certified Professional status. You also earn core credit toward Microsoft Certified
Database Administrator certification, elective credit toward Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certification, elective credit
toward Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer + Internet certification, and elective credit toward Microsoft Certified Solution
Developer certification.
This certification exam measures your ability to design and implement a database solution by using Microsoft SQL Server version 7.0.
7) Exam **70-028: Administering Microsoft SQL Server 7.0 (1 of 3 core for MCDBA)
When you pass this exam, you achieve Microsoft Certified Professional status. You also earn core credit toward Microsoft Certified
Database Administrator certification, elective credit toward Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer certification, and elective credit
toward Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer + Internet certification.
This certification exam measures your ability to administer a Microsoft SQL Server version 7.0 database.
3. The MCDBA (Microsoft Certified Database Administrator) credential is the premier
certification for professionals who implement and administer Microsoft SQL Server databases. The
certification is appropriate for individuals who derive physical database designs, develop logical data
models, create physical databases, create data services by using Transact-SQL, manage and maintain
databases, configure and manage security, monitor and optimize databases, and install and configure
SQL Server.
The MCDBA Certification is appropriate for Database administrators, Database analysts, and
Database developers. By earning the premier MCDBA credential, individuals are demonstrating that they
have the skills necessary to lead organizations in the successful design, implementation, and administration
of SQL Server databases. MCDBA candidates should have at least one year of experience working with
SQL Server.
