Mother Infant Postpartum Care in Home/Lactation Consultant Home Visits: Discuss the advantages of breastfeeding to mother, baby, father, and the environment. Getting started in the hospital. Information on lactation consultant home visits for problems that may occur. Provide information about a doula who provides labor support for couples in the hospital and/or postpartum care for mother and infant in the home. Allergies and Asthma in Kids: This presentation will cover basic allergy and asthma information geared for kids. American Red Cross Family Disaster Preparedness: 30 to 45 minute presentation on creating a family disaster plan and a family disaster supply kit. Presentation will cover health and mental health implications of disasters for family members, including children. Athletic Training and Personal Fitness/Rehab: A 3 part program: Children can put together the human bones and identify and label them. Athletes of all ages will be shown proper stretching techniques and minor home available rehab exercises. Simple workout exercises that can be done while in the office or by the elderly will be shown Attention Deficit Disorder: Overview of the criteria for the diagnosis of ADHD, home and school accommodations, and an overview of stimulant and non-stimulant medications. Body Image in Female Adolescents: Come and talk about how body image is often strongly tied to women’s identities and how this self-image is influenced by our society. Chiropractic, Sports Injuries: Presentation on Active Release Techniques (ART) for sports injuries, performance, and repetitive stress disorders. Demonstrate techniques on volunteers. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome: This is a presentation on Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, what it is, how you diagnose it, followed by discussion. Everything the Modern Teenager Needs to Know: A discussion about sexual activity, decision-making, STDs and contraception, etc. Family Management of a Catastrophic Illness Event: Family management in the face of a catastrophic injury or illness involves understanding how the health care system, insurance systems and social services systems work. Topics also include assisting families to understand the impact of illness on body systems; the family’s alternative funding sources, and how to talk to insurance companies. Fast Food Fix (Fast Foods Can Be Healthy): Discuss strategies to make better choices when eating out. Work in small groups to discover nutrition facts for fast food meals, and then redesign the meal as a healthier version. Fetal Alcohol Syndrome: Power point presentation giving an overview of fetal alcohol syndrome with hand-outs. Fire Safety House: An interactive fire safety training program held in a miniature house, which teaches children about fire safety and lets them practice fire escape skills. Parents will be asked to sign a consent form and please let the staff know if your child has asthma or other respiratory problems Five Wishes: Workshop reviews and discusses 5 wishes, a document helping people to express how they want to be treated when they are seriously ill and can’t speak for themselves. A look at a person’s needs: medical, personal, emotional and spiritual. A video will be shown. 5 wishes document provided. General Internet Safety: Come and learn from the New Jersey State Police how to protect yourself and your family while using the internet. Guidelines for selecting Childhood Psychological Interventions: This program will offer parents a set of guidelines by which to evaluate and select psychological treatments for their children. These guidelines include: potential for side effects; available outcome data; intrusiveness of intervention; match between severity of problem and intensity of intervention; cost. Happy Trails to You (Trail Mix as an Easy Snack): A program for all ages or a family activity. Discusses healthy snacks, design custom trail recipe mix from foods available at home. Make your own bag of trail mix to munch on at the fair Hearing Loss: Introduction about hearing and hearing loss for all ages. We have a videootoscope to show people on a TV screen what it looks like inside the ear canal. We have a demonstration on the use of personal TV listening system. Information on FM systems to help kids in the classroom and information on hearing aids as well as how to get a free hearing screening. Hip Hop: Using age appropriate music and language, music and imagery the dance ensemble will teach basic hip hop . How to Help a Teenage Friend: Come and talk about how to help when a friend is facing problems. Identity Theft and Fraud: N.J. State Police High Tech Crimes Division will present this program on protecting your identity while on the internet. Innovative Laser and Light Treatments to Tackle Acne: Technological advances in laser and light devices, as well as a new era of facial and body rejuvenation. Dr. Chaudry will be speaking about the most clinically advanced and exciting new procedures. Just Take 5, Stress Relieving Workshop: Do life’s everyday stresses get you down? This innovative workshop will help empower you to take control of your life. Just 5 minutes a day can transform your outlook and your life. Kids on the Block Puppet Show on Transportation Safety: This program is designed to teach children about brain injury and safety awareness through the use of an interactive puppet show. The children will become familiar with the safety rules for riding recreational wheels, helmet safety and automobile safety. Men’s Health Issues: This program will discuss issues related to men’s health particularly heart disease and prostate problems. Mental Illness and Stigma: Misconceptions versus facts about mental illness are explored. A young adult shares personal experience and recovery from mental illness. Resources for treatment provided. Organ and Tissue Donor Awareness: Bill will talk about his heart transplant experience and the importance of creating public awareness about organ and tissue donation. Orthodontics and Dental Care: This presentation will provide an overview of common dental and orthodontic problems as well as stressing the importance of proper dental care and oral hygiene. Pediatric Dental Health: A basic power point presentation answering the question: What is dental health and why it is so important? This presentation will cover such topics as age of first visit; what happens at the first visit; healthy snacks; fluoride; why regular visits are necessary; radiographs. Pilates Workshop: Introduction to the techniques of the authentic Pilates method of body conditioning. Radical Joy: Mind-Body Healing in the 21st Century: A dynamic lecture/workshop presentation on the latest advances in mind-body healing. Surviving Adolescence: How to Raise your Parents: Come and talk about fostering good communication and good relationships with your parents... Teen Internet Safety: Whether you’re internet savvy or an occasional user, the New Jersey State Police have tips on how to protect yourself while using the internet. Therapeutic Hypnosis: This presentation is an introduction to hypnosis. You will learn how hypnosis can improve the quality of your life. We will cover how the brain works in hypnosis, what to expect in a session of hypnosis and how meditation and guided imagery compare to hypnosis. We will end with a ten minute guided meditation for relaxation. Walking Into Womanhood: Intended for moms and daughters, Dr Kaufman will review early pubertal development; why does it happen; why do we get a period; how to take care of ourselves; and some of the symptoms that can accompany our menses such as cramps, PMS etc. When to Worry About Forgetfulness: Learn when forgetfulness crosses the line into something more serious.
