10 Craziest Lady Gaga Fashion Moments to the 10 Biggest Celebrity Tools All
Part of The Short List was a top story. Here it is again: VH1's new six-part series,
"The Short List," premieres tomorrow (Friday, July 30) at 9PM* and ranks
everything from the 10 Craziest Lady Gaga Fashion Moments to the 10 Biggest
Celebrity Tools to the 10 Cutest Celebrity Babies.
VH1's patented blend of comedians, experts and commentators will dissect,
disseminate and diss their way through each topic, ultimately justifying each and
every totally awesome top ten ranking. "The Short List" line-up kicks off with a
look at Lady Gaga and her wildly eccentric, often questionable, fashion sense.
The episode features some of the pop icon's craziest outfits, including the red
latex gown she wore to meet the Queen of England, her ubiquitous and revealing
bubble dress, and the infamous Kermit-inspired frock that takes childhood
memories to a whole new, creepy level. In addition to Gaga, the series dishes on
everything from Twilight heartthrob Taylor Lautner's ripped beach bod abs to Suri
Cruise's outrageous style, to reality TV meltdowns so crazy they make Mel
Gibson look sane. Grab a preview here
A new episode of "The Short List" premieres every Friday night at 9PM* starting
on July 30 through September 3. Try not to watch it. We dare you. You might

This weekend: Christmas on ‘Mad Men’; conspiracy on
‘Rubicon’; return of ‘Shark Week’

This weekend is a big one for AMC. The channel rolls out its latest drama series, “Rubicon,” and offers a
startling new episode of “Mad Men.”
“Mad Men” is disorienting because the Emmy-winning drama gives you Christmas 1964 at 10 p.m. Sunday,
Aug. 1, 2010. The holiday office party grows and morphs into a swank, surprising event. Joan (Christina
Hendricks) makes quite an impression in a red dress.
In other developments, young Sally Draper (Kiernan Shipka) gains a creepy admirer. Don Draper (Jon
Hamm) draws the attention of several women, notably a marketing analyst who says, “Nobody ever wants to
think they’re a type.” And Fred Rumsen (Joel Murray) returns after sobering up.
The office scenes between the veteran Fred and newcomer Peggy Olson (Elisabeth Moss) bristle
with combative affection. She admires him but calls him on his sexism. He offers advice on her confused
love life. ”Mad Men” does a subtle yet superlative job of depicting alcoholism in the workplace. (Pictured
from left are Moss, Hamm and Hendricks in this Getty Images photo by Jeff Vespa.)
“Rubicon” is the anti-”24.”
Espionage in this drama is about analysis, meetings and puzzle solving rather than action sequences and
torture.
Will ”Rubicon” be another hit for AMC after “Mad Men” and “Breaking Bad”?
Probably not. I’ve seen the first hours, and I enjoyed the atmospheric style (think “All the President’s Men”)
and the haunted main character, analyst Will Travers (played by James Badge Dale of “24″ and “The
Pacific”). But those episodes didn’t build to a payoff.
Will works for a federal agency, the American Policy Institute in New York. The analysts there sift through
piles of information to make security recommendations. Then a disaster puts Will on a new path.
A billionaire’s suicide starts his widow, Katherine (Miranda Richardson), asking questions, too. Yet Will and
Katherine haven’t met by the end of four hours.
Still, if you’re looking for something serious, “Rubicon” delivers. This is not another frothy summer series.
AMC offers two hours at 8 p.m. Sunday (the regular time slot will be 9 p.m. Sundays). You may have caught
the first hour, which aired after the ”Breaking Bad” season finale in June.
Elsewhere:
***It’s time for the 23rd annual Shark Week on Discovery Channel. The event kicks off with “Ultimate Air
Jaws” at 9 p.m. Sunday.
***The intrigue continues on “Big Brother,” which rounded up a particularly dysfunctional group this year.
Miami Beach podiatrist Andrew Gordon flipped out on Thursday’s show and was given the boot. But he left a
lot of ill will behind, and you can learn more at 8 p.m. Sunday on CBS.
***TCM begins its month-long Summer Under the Stars festival on Sunday. Each day, the channel devotes a
day to the films of one actor. Sunday is a celebration of Basil Rathbone who had a far richer career than his
most famous role, Sherlock Holmes. The other actors saluted in August include Elizabeth Taylor, Katharine
Hepburn, Paul Newman, Ingrid Bergman, Olivia de Havilland, Peter O’Toole and Steve McQueen.
***VH1 starts the six-week “Short List” at at 9 tonight. This Top Ten countdown begins with Lady Gaga’s
most outrageous outfits. Other topics include Taylor Lautner’s abs and reality show meltdowns.
***The third hour of “The Pillars of the Earth” arrives at 10 tonight on Starz. This epic rendering of the Ken
Follett novel depicts the intrigue behind the building of a cathedral and the battle for the English throne. Ian
McShane, Matthew Macfadyen and Eddie Redmayne lead the large, impressive cast in this old-fashioned,
eight-hour miniseries.
Television without Pity
FRIDAY, JULY 30, 2010: THE SHORT LIST
by Zach Oat July 30, 2010 6:00 AM
Apparently, VH1 did not invent the idea of having comedians talk about things we care about in order to
turn it into entertainment. I Love the '80s was a BBC series across the pond before VH1 turned it into a
franchise, with repeated seasons of 1980s love-ins, a few 1970s editions, one series about the new
millennium, one about toys, and one about the holidays. All relied on nostalgia, with possibly the
exception of the millennium edition, depending on quickly your nostalgia sets in. But now their latest
show tackles current pop culture events, in list format. Can it survive without the nostalgia?
Of course it can, especially because tonight's premiere episode profiles Lady Gaga's ten craziest fashion
moments. Of course, if finding out which ten Ga-ga-getups VH1 has deemed the craziest is of no interest
to you, let alone what comedians you've never heard of have to say about them, then perhaps this show
isn't your cup of tea. You can always just read that section in Us Weekly where they do the same thing,
but in print. But check back next week, when the show is about celebrity meltdowns, which could be
interesting if it has audio and/or video, and isn't just the comedians doing their best Mel Gibson and
Christian Bale impersonations.
The Short List premieres tonight at 9/8C on VH1.

DoSomething Winner Returns to
Save His Stricken Hometown
BY Emilie LuseThu Jul 29, 2010
After he graduated, development major Mark Rembert applied for the Peace
Corps, thinking he could help developing countries strengthen their
communities. But when his hometown's largest employer shut its doors, Rembert
found that rural Ohio needed him most.
DoSomething, headed by Fast Company columnist Nancy Lublin, has recognized
five young social entrepreneurs with $10,000 grants--and one with a prize of
$100,000. Fast Company will profile one of these enterprising youth each day
this week. Click here to read the other winners' stories.
Getting into the Peace Corps is no small matter. The application process is arduous, and
has become more competitive. In the fall of 2008, the Peace Corps said yes to Ohio
native and recent Haverford College graduate Mark Rembert. Then 23, the activist and
economic-development major was looking forward to traveling to Ecuador, where he
would pursue field work helping rural villages with asset-development. But news from his
native Ohio sent him in a totally different direction. That November, Rembert read that
DHL, the largest employer in his hometown of Wilmington, in rural Clinton County, was
shutting down. An estimated 8,200 residents in Clinton County would soon lose their
jobs.
Instead of flying to Ecuador, Rembert went home. "When your community has 18%
unemployment, its hard to justify going to [Latin America] to help out," Rembert says. In
Wilmington, he found Taylor Stuckert, another would-be Peace Corps recruit, and
together, they started Energize Clinton County (ECC), a not-for-profit devoted to creating
green jobs, investing in sustainable energy, and marketing local industries and
businesses. His initiative earned him a $10,000 DoSomething award, money that he
says will be plowed back into the community.
With ECC, Rembert and Stuckert are doing the same thing they would have in the
Peace Corps: They have helped a rural community take advantage of resources it
already had. Though Clinton County had been buoyed for years by the massive DHL
facility, Rembert saw that his region had many other strengths it had previously ignored,
including a charming downtown, an abundance of farmland, and the benefit of Ohio's tax
incentives for green businesses.
Forming a group of town leaders charged with understanding the red tape for green
industries, ECC designated Wilmington a Green Enterprise Zone, the first of its kind in
the nation. The move--part marketing strategy and part zoning ordinance--has helped
Wilmington secure Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grants from the federal
government's Recovery and Reinvestment Act. These in turn have served to attract
private capital from solar energy companies in his small town. Part of Rembert's job is
simply to understand how Wilmington's utilities work, to make the job easier for
investors, he says: "We spend a lot of time working with utilities, so that when [solar]
companies come to town we can tell them where to go."
Recently, ECC's efforts landed Clinton County a Purchase Power Agreement with Gaia
Energy USA to install solar panels on the county jail. Gaia will provide more than
$300,000 in capital investment to install 65 kilowatts of panels. Once installed, the
panels could help the county save more than $25,000 a year on energy costs.
Meanwhile a project is being seriously explored to make poetic use of the abandoned
DHL facility by installing solar farms on its roofs, while another will use farmland in the
county for utility scale solar fields. If successful, the latter would count as one of the
largest solar power sources east of the Mississippi.
To spur green-job creation through construction, ECC has also focused on retrofitting
buildings. The organization solicited help from a professor at nearby Dayton University to
supply line-by-line energy audits on town buildings. The service is key to helping
businesses and public works invest in retrofitting, which saves money and creates
construction jobs. "Since you can't see energy and you can't see the money leaving your
building, it's really difficult to convince people to invest [in retrofitting]," Rembert says.
"When we're armed with data, it has a huge impact."
ECC has also designed an easy-to use and professional-looking online portal that
promotes 170 locally owned businesses and sends out a weekly email newsletter read
by 1,000 people every week. Thanks to a renewed involvement, the downtown
commerce area has been completely tranformed. "When we were growing up, downtown
was dead. We went to the strip, to Walmart--that's where everyone was. Now everyone
wants to be downtown," says Rembert.
He senses that young American designers, economists, and urban planners have shown
a renewed interest in rural areas, where projects are easier to initiate and have a much
larger impact than in dense and highly regulated city centers. His own ECC is a
remarkable case study of development and planning skills, which he intended for use in
Third World countries, at work domestically. "We ended up realizing that a lot of the
principles used in the Peace Corps--community asset based-development--were what
was need in Wilmington."
His epiphany and his subsequent follow-through earned him not just the $10,000 prize
but also a trophy given to him live on VH1 by none other than Megan Fox, who grew up
in eastern Tennessee. "I think she's really passionate about rural America," Rembert
says. Always on-message, he believes he was especially lucky to have been paired with
the actress--for exposure's sake: "We have no doubt," he says, "that our video has been
viewed many, many times."

Biggest ‘Breaking Dawn’ Challenge:
‘Finding Room’ For All Of The New
Characters!
SAN DIEGO, Calif. -“Breaking Dawn” screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg has already revealed that the Bella and
Edward sex scenes will be a part of the final two “Twilight Saga” installments, but
making sure all of Stephenie Meyer’s new characters fit into the films – that’s a whole
different challenge.
“It’s extremely challenging to introduce those new characters because you already have
quite a slew of characters to service,” Rosenberg told MTV News during the “Girls Gone
Genre” panel at Comic-Con. “The Cullen family is large, the wolf family is large, you
have three leads… finding room for all of them is a challenge.”
While Rosenberg wouldn’t reveal exactly which new faces may or may not make the cut
– possibly including Bella and Edward’s vampire wedding guests and new members of
the werewolf tribe – she said she’s trying to focus on the ones that have the most impact
on the story.
“For me, it is about pulling forward the ones that are essential and really making sure
they have a presence,” she added.
One of the new faces Rosenberg may have to make room for appears to be former
“Pushing Daisies” star Lee Pace.
According to E! Online, who first reported the casting news, Pace is in final talks to step
into the role of Garrett, a nomadic vampire and friend of Edward.
In helping to make her decision, Rosenberg said she often solicits the feedback of the
Twi-hards to make sure the big screen translation reflects what’s most important to the
rabid fan base.
“I ask people to really weigh in with what are their favorite scenes in the books, what’s
important to them,” Rosenberg noted. “And there generally seems to be a consensus
about one scene or another. It’s really helpful for me and I’ll interact with them
sometimes.”
However, Rosenberg – who was worked as screenwriter on all of the “Twilight Saga”
films – did reveal one fact about the upcoming installments, putting some fan worries to
rest in the process about whether she would take the part of “Breaking Dawn” told from
Jacob Black’s (Taylor Lautner) point of view onto the big screen.
“I don’t know where that idea came from, but that is not true,” she said of Internet rumors
she wouldn’t be including the Book of Jacob. “We are going to see Jacob’s perspective
equally, so don’t worry.”
The first “Breaking Dawn” film is slated to hit theaters in November 2011. No date has
been announced yet for the second – and final – film.

Diddy To Replace Simon Cowell? Only If
He Gets Simon’s Paycheck

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -Sean “Diddy” Combs wants Simon Cowell’s job – but only if he gets the same paycheck.
The hip-hop mogul admitted on Wednesday’s episode of “Lopez Tonight” that he
became interested in becoming Simon’s replacement on “American Idol” after he heard
how much the British star made as a judge on the singing competition.
“At first when people were asking me if I was interested in the job, I was like, no…that’s
not my style but once I heard what Simon makes…I would love the job,” Diddy told host
George Lopez.
“I’ve got six kids. If I would get the same check Simon gets…we would have a ball,”
Diddy joked.
And while Diddy isn’t likely short on cash, he could use the extra dough to help keep up
his habit of bestowing elaborate gifts on his friends and family. As previously reported,
he gave a Silver Maybach worth more than $300,000 along with a check for $10,000 to
his son, Justin Dior, at his 16th birthday bash in January this year.
Diddy remained tight-lipped, however, when asked to clarify rumors that he had given
Justin Bieber a sports car for his 16th birthday, as well. The teen sensation had recently
been photographed driving a white Lamborghini in Los Angeles.
“I can’t confirm any rumors but I will say this…he is really hot right now. If he asked me
for the keys to my house, he got the keys to my house. If he asked for the keys to my
Lamborghini, he can…he can borrow my dog. Justin Bieber is on fire right now,” Diddy
noted.
Diddy hinted, however, that he might be wiling to lend his expensive wheels to the young
pop star.
“If you see him in any Rolls Royce or Lamborghini’s, it might be mine…but it’s his for
the day,” Diddy said.

Ellen DeGeneres Leaving ‘American Idol’
FIRST PUBLISHED: July 29, 2010 8:04 PM EDT
LAST UPDATED: July 29, 2010 9:53 PM EDT
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -After only one year behind the judges’ table on “American Idol,” Ellen DeGeneres is
leaving the show.
“A couple months ago, I let FOX and the ‘American Idol’ producers know that this didn’t
feel like the right fit for me,” Ellen said in a statement issued to Access Hollywood on
Thursday. “I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing
anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next.”
The talk show host and comedienne revealed that she didn’t come to the decision lightly.
“It was a difficult decision to make, but my work schedule became more than I bargained
for,” her statement continued. “I also realized this season that while I love discovering,
supporting and nurturing young talent, it was hard for me to judge people and sometimes
hurt their feelings.”
Although she is leaving, Ellen said she is thankful for the experience.
“I loved the experience working on ‘Idol’ and I am very grateful for the year I had. I am a
huge fan of the show and will continue to be,” her statement concluded.
[POLL: Do You Think Ellen Quit Or Was Forced Out? CLICK HERE to cast your

Ellen’s announcement comes just two days after a report in The Hollywood Reporter
surfaced suggesting that original “American Idol” executive producer, and current “So
You Think You Can Dance” judge and executive producer, Nigel Lythgoe, was being
coaxed back to the FOX juggernaut, two years after he left the fold.
While Nigel, FOX and FremantleMedia have had no comment on the report, there were
rumors that if the Brit returned to the show which he helped make a ratings blockbuster,
the entire “Idol” judging panel, minus perhaps Randy Jackson, could be replaced.
“They feel that they can tweak the format, but unless they do something as dramatic as
replacing some of the judges, I don’t know if that would really register as a big overhaul
of ‘Idol’ — a fresh feeling,” Kim Masters, a writer at The Hollywood Reporter, told
Access earlier this week.
Nigel himself had even suggested a break-up of the judging group, previously telling
Access Hollywood’s Billy Bush he wasn’t a fan of the move — following his departure
— to add four judges.
“I’ve never supported four judges,” Nigel said. “You know, I think once you’ve heard
[the criticism] ‘You suck!’ once, you don’t need to hear it another three times, to be
honest.”
Ellen’s move is also surprising because she recently told AccessHollywood.com’s Laura
Saltman that she would be around for some time.
“I signed a long contract that says lots of things and I remember seeing five years on
there,” she previously said.
Randy still has time on his contract, but Kara DioGuardi has a year-to-year deal, which
has yet to be renewed, although she told Access last week that she was ready to take on
Season 10.
“I’m not getting butterflies as much as I was, but I’m ready to find new talent,” Kara said.
The news will no doubt come as a surprise to Randy, who told Access last week that he
expected to see Ellen at the auditions round for Season 10 – something Access had asked
about.
“I’m sure she will,” he said, referring to Ellen taking part in the audition rounds. “She
didn’t come on until later on. So, I’m sure she will this time.”
While Ellen’s departure was a surprise, a host of names to replace judge Simon Cowell,
who exited the show in May, have been bandied about, including Harry Connick Jr.,
Chris Isaak, Elton John and Justin Timberlake.
On Thursday, however, yet another name surfaced – Steven Tyler of Aerosmith.
Access Hollywood confirmed that the rocker has met with “American Idol” reps on
“several occasions,” a source close to the singer said. There was no word, however, on
whether he was close to making a deal for one of the open judges’ chairs.

Reports: Jennifer Lopez Tapped As New
‘American Idol’ Judge
FIRST PUBLISHED: July 30, 2010 1:16 AM EDT
LOS ANGELES, Calif. -So long Ellen DeGeneres. Hello Jennifer Lopez?
J.Lo has been tapped as the newest judge on “American Idol,” according to various
online reports.
Deadline was the first to report the newest addition to the “Idol” judges’ table, noting
that negotiations have been going on for over a month to bring Jennifer on board, after
her manager, Benny Medina, initiated the meeting with “Idol” producers.
The news broke just hours after Ellen announced she was leaving the hit FOX program
after just one season as a judge.
“A couple months ago, I let FOX and the ‘American Idol’ producers know that this didn’t
feel like the right fit for me,” Ellen said in a statement issued to Access Hollywood on
Thursday. “I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing

Simon Cowell, who left the program following the conclusion of Season 9 in May, issued
a statement following the news of Ellen’s departure.
“As I got to know Ellen, I grew to really, really like her. I have huge respect for her
because she’s always been in control of her own destiny,” Simon told The Hollywood
Reporter.
As of now, J.Lo would join returning hosts Randy Jackson and Kara DioGuardi at the
judges’ table when Season 10 of “Idol” bows in January.
“[Jennifer’s] excited about it,” a source told People on Thursday night.
As for who will step in as the fourth and final judge, several names have been speculated,
including Jessica Simpson, Harry Connick Jr., Elton John, Chris Isaak and Justin
Timberlake.
The possibility also remains that the show could return to a three judge format. A formal
announcement is expected to come from FOX at their Television Critics Association
panel on Monday.
On Thursday, yet another name surfaced as a judge possibility – Steven Tyler of
Aerosmith.
Access Hollywood confirmed that the rocker has met with “American Idol” reps on
“several occasions,” a source close to the singer said.
There was no word, however, on whether he was close to making a deal for one of the

When the Vows Break: Legal Realities of
The Bachelorette
What's Your Reaction:
After more than 30 years of bachelorhood, I recently got married to my beautiful wife,
Jana.
Now, people keep asking me, "How's married life?" -- an interesting question since I'm
known as one of the premiere divorce attorneys in the country.
Well, for one thing, instead of coming home from work and flipping on SportsCenter, I
now find myself on the couch next to my wife "enjoying" the latest episode of The
Bachelorette.
After weeks of watching one ill-fated suitor after another leave the show broken-hearted
I've started to wonder: Will any of these contestants end up needing to hire a guy like
me?
Will Chris or Roberto- - whoever is lucky enough to get the final rose on Monday -leave a job, pack up and move, only to realize a month later that things just aren't going
to work out?
If the happy couple does end up breaking off their hasty, made-for-TV engagement, who
gets the ABC-funded diamond ring?
And what if one of the unlucky 24 rejects takes his unceremonious departure from the
show a bit too personally and attempts to avenge himself on the unwary bachelorette or
even one of his fellow competitors?
Illinois provides answers to some of these questions with its aptly named Breach of
Promise Act.
Under the Act, poor Chris (or Roberto) may recover actual damages resulting from a
broken engagement, including the costs of relocating, putting down all of those pricey
wedding vendor deposits, and foregone wages or lost business profits readily attributable
to the break up.
It gives the jilted fiancé some protection from his wayward bride-to-be.
Whether or not that will encourage the lucky winner to beseech his Bachelorette for her
hand remains to be seen, of course.
And what about that sure-to-be-extravagant engagement ring?
While I'm sure ABC will reclaim what's rightfully theirs if the match-made-in-heaven
falls through, real couples often don't have such clear-cut contractual obligations to guide
them.
Instead, Average Joe may wind up taking his Average Jane to court to reclaim his
several-thousand dollar investment.
If Jane was the one to break-off the engagement (perhaps upset that Joe wouldn't
dutifully give up his Monday Night Football in favor of Dancing with the Stars?), or if
they mutually decide to separate (the Bears-Packers rivalry just runs too deep), he would
be in luck: The law says she must return the ring.
But if Joe were the one to end things the question of who gets the ring becomes more
uncertain. Different states have different laws.
Generally there are two outcomes. Some state statutes make it clear the man should not
benefit from ending the engagement by regaining the ring. Others take a "no-fault"
approach and the ring is returned to the purchaser regardless of who ended it.
Broken promises and engagement rings aside, there's always the possibility one of the
many men rejected on reality TV could exhibit violence toward the bachelorette -- or
even other contestants.
The recent 'Men Tell All' episode on The Bachelorette made it clear there is little love
lost between several of the contestants. Fortunately, temporary restraining orders exist as
a way to prevent likely altercations before they happen -- or to keep them from happening
again.
It's a short-term order that can later be extended if a judge decides the guys can't be
trusted within a fifty-foot radius of each other.
As for me, it looks like marriage may have added a bit of reality to my TV viewing
habits. Now, I'm thinking about catching a few episodes of Ochocinco: The Ultimate
Catch on VH1.
After all, it's a reality show about love and football -- how bad can it really be?

New VH-1 Reality Show “You’re Cut Off” features break-out star and
talent marketing company InterFACE’s top employee Ms. Jacqueline
Madden.
“Although it was tough at times, I got a chance to do a lot of things that I thought I would never do, and
I made some great friends.”
East Brunswick, NJ (PRWEB) July 29, 2010
Imagine this -- a young girl believes she's going to LA, to be featured in a new VH1 reality TV series, in
which she will get to party, live in a mansion and enjoy the good life. Anyone would be all for it right? So was
Jacqueline Madden, the InterFACE development director and aspiring actress and model thought the
national exposure of a reality TV show would be perfect to help ignite her career. However, things changed
slightly when Jacqueline realized the show she had been cast for had a slightly different theme, she was
about to be featured on “You’re Cut Off”, the VH1 reality brainchild that chronicles pampered princesses fall
from grace for the eight weeks they are cut off from their friends, family and most importantly their parents'
cold hard cash.
Eight girls went through a two month period living a “modest” life, guided by a certified life coach, to help
them become more independent and well-rounded individuals. As most can probably imagine, the inner-diva
in everyone came out, and the princesses roared as they tried to become accustomed to living with each
other and without their previous lavish lifestyles.
“You’re Cut Off” premiered on VH1 June 9th and since then has been a popular subject of conversation in
the entertainment industry. Due to the show’s controversial topic, the Internet’s entertainment blogs have
been buzzing. “Looking back on it, I think doing the show was hysterical!” says Jacqueline. “Although it was
tough at times, I got a chance to do a lot of things that I thought I would never do, and I made some great
friends.”
The show has boosted Jacqueline’s career as well. This summer she was featured on The Early Show on
CBS, and she also shot the cover of Stepping Out Magazine.
As far as working as a top director at InterFACE; Jacqueline loves it. “It’s really nice working with people
who are in the (entertainment) industry just like me,” she states. She is one of InterFACE’s biggest fans, and
always recommends the talent marketing company to her friends and family to come there to begin their
career.
InterFACE is a premier talent marketing firm based out of Connecticut and New Jersey. The company helps
models, actors, and singers begin to break into the entertainment business by marketing them within the
industry to help begin their careers.
“InterFACE does work,” says Jacqueline. “We set realistic goals and really help our clients jump-start their
careers. It’s so rewarding seeing clients get requested and book jobs after I helped give them the courage to
move forward.”
More reality TV for this VH1 breakout star? “Maybe not another show like ‘Cut Off,’” she jokes, “but I am
ready to pursue even more demanding acting and modeling roles for sure.” This 23-year-old takes her craft
very seriously, and is ready to work hard to have the career she has always dreamed of. “You have to prove
yourself in this industry,” says Jacqueline, “and having been blessed with the lifestyle that I have only makes
me want to work harder to stay on top.” Now that’s a girl with a good head on her shoulders, good luck
Jacqueline.

Former Tiger mistress Rachel Uchitel
flees ‘Celebrity Rehab’
Mistress Zero in the Tiger Woods brouhaha, Rachel Uchitel, has been extending her
fifteen minutes of fame with a stint on Dr. Drew Pinsky’s Celebrity Rehab.
However, after a week on the show- reportedly for an addiction to “pills” and alcoholUchitel fled for the “swanky” Beverly Hills L’Ermitage Hotel following a day of rehab
that was intensely intense:
“Rachel simply needed some time away from the intense pressure and scrutiny that she is
dealing with.
She agreed to go back to Celebrity Rehab 4. Rachel has never had to face these issues
before, and talking about it pushed her over the edge, and her instinct was to run.’”
Not surprisingly, Dr. Drew managed to coax Uchitel back for further time in front of the
cameras:
“Producers made her realize that if she continues to run away from her issues, she will
never be able to live a healthy life,” a VH-1 insider tells us.
According to a VH1 source, Uchitel was discussing issues of “self-esteem” and “selfworth” when she made a break for it.

Rachel Uchitel fled 'Celebrity Rehab'
over talk about father's death from
cocaine overdose: report

Rachel Uchitel returned to the set of 'Celebrity Rehab' just one day after allegedly quitting the show, according to
reports.
Rachel Uchitel is reportedly making a pretty penny for her stint on "Celebrity Rehab" -- but that didn't stop
her from making a run for it when a therapy session hit a little too close to home.
Sources connected to the VH1 production told TMZ.com that Tiger Woods' alleged former mistress fled the
show after a therapy session with Dr. Drew Pinsky turned to the topic of her father, who died of a cocaine
overdose when she was 15.
"Rachel has never had to face these issues before, and talking about it pushed her over the edge, and her
instinct was to run," a network insider told RadarOnline.com.
Uchitel reportedly quit the show on Wednesday and spent the night in the swanky L'Ermitage Hotel. She is
said to have returned on Thursday morning when producers and her cast mates -- including "Hills" alum
Jason Wahler, "Party of Five" actor Jeremy London and model Janice Dickinson -- urged her to reconsider.
"Producers arrived at the hotel the following morning, and calm prevailed," the source told RadarOnline.com.
"Rachel simply needed some time away from the intense pressure and scrutiny that she is dealing with."
Uchitel agreed to join the cast of the VH1 show only after producers agreed to double her pay to $500,000,
according to TMZ.
She is reportedly on the show to kick an addiction to pills.

Rachel Uchitel ran from rehab after
intense talk about her father’s death
By: HollywoodNews.com
HollywoodNews.com: Rachel Uchitel finally joined Dr. Drew’s “Celebrity Rehab” and in
turn lost her opportunity to be on “Celebrity Apprentice.” However it seems rehab is
proving to be harder than she thought it would.
She ran away from the facility and stayed in a Beverly Hillls hotel for one night after
breaking down during a one-on-one therapy session in which the main topic was her dad,
reports TMZ. Apparently her father died when she was 15 from a cocaine overdose.
It seems as if her demons lie with her past and not her future.

Rachel Uchitel: Is She Still In "Celebrity
Rehab?"

Is Rachel Uchitel still in rehab?
It was widely reported Wednesday night that Uchitel, one of Tiger Woods' alleged
mistresses, had bolted from VH1's "Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew," just one day into
taping of the new season at at the Pasadena Recovery Center.
However, US magazine is reporting Thursday morning that Uchitel has returned at the
urging of her fellow castmates. The show is led by Dr. Drew Pinsky and this season's cast
includes "The Hills" alum Jason Wahler, actor Eric Roberts and model Janice Dickinson.
According to TMZ, she moved into a hotel Wednesday night after an intense therapy
session about her father. She reportedly was 15 when her father died of a cocaine
overdose. He was in his 40s.
Uchitel 's appearance on "Celebrity Rehab" may have cost her a spot on Donald Trump"s
"Celebrity Apprentice." She was reportedly being considered for that show until she
signed on to the reality TV rehab show. Trump later said she was not "Celebrity
Apprentice" material.

Police question London at rehab centre
Thursday, July 29 2010, 1:24pm EDT
By Mike Moody, Entertainment Reporter
WENN
Police have reportedly questioned Jeremy London during the filming of Celebrity Rehab.
Palm Springs Police Department detectives visited the former Party of Five actor at the
Pasadena Recovery Centre on Wednesday to question him about his alleged kidnapping.
London was allegedly using Ecstasy and Xanax last month when he claimed that two
men kidnapped him and forced him to smoke drugs at gunpoint.
"Their offices remain supportive of Jeremy London's role as a victim in the ongoing
investigation," his representative Dominic Friesen said about the officials' visit.
He added: "As he has all along, Jeremy is co-operating fully as preparations move
forward for the hearing next month."
The meeting was reportedly not filmed for the VH1 reality show.

Why Rachel Uchitel Left — and
Returned to — Celebrity Rehab
July 29, 2010
When VH1 announced the list of names of who will appear on the upcoming season of Celebrity Rehab with
Dr. Drew, Rachel Uchitel was among them. But Tiger Woods‘s alleged mistress reportedly left the
Pasadena Recovery Center where the show is taped.
Now that she’s back, a source close to the N.Y.C. nightclub hostess tells PEOPLE why she ditched Rehab
— and why she quickly came back.
“She did this [TV show] to show people who she is. She feels that then if they hate her, she’s okay with that,”
the source said. “But she’s not okay with them creating a character for her to play and represent. She’s not
the things people say. She wants a chance to prove that. She’s trying to focus on what’s going on there and
take rehab seriously.”
Uchitel left the show temporarily because “the demons from her past became too much to deal with,” the
source says, but she returned after realizing that “she is part of a group and the group needs to know they
can count on her for their sobriety.”
Former Hills star Jason Wahler, singer Leif Garrett, former model Janice Dickinson, socialite Jason
Davis and Party of Five actor Jeremy London are also set to be on the show.
According to a source close to the show, Uchitel wasn’t gone from production for very long. “It was like she
walked out and came back,” the source says.
“It’s very hard stuff dealing with past trauma,” the source close to Uchitel says of her recovery process.
“Being forced to look at it hurts.”
A rep for VH1 and Dr. Drew had no comment.

Adler's Appetite Rocks the Bell House
July 29, 7:17 PM

Elliot Levin
NY Hard Rock Music Examiner rates this:
Guns N' Roses fans got up close and personal with original drummer Steven Adler in Brooklyn
last night, as Adler's Appetite played G n' R hits and new originals with dead-on precision and
spectacular showmanship.
One of rock n' roll's more tragic figures, Adler drummed on landmark album Appetite for
Destruction and toured the world alongside Axl, Slash and the rest before his battles with hard
drugs led to his exile from the band and almost two full decades of rock bottom living, as detailed
in his just-released autobiography My Appetite for Destruction. But stints spent in VH1's Celebrity
Rehab and Sober House appear to have done Steven well, and the drummer's new band has
been touring the US and playing the timeless hits he helped write.
Adler's Appetite played Brooklyn's Bell House late last night, after opening acts Anchored and
Misstallica (an all-female tribute act which paid spectacular homage to the world's greatest heavy
metal band). The 11:30 pm start time was late for a weekday night, but in no way dampened the
enthusiasm of the G n' R -loving New York crowd, which included stand up comic Eugene
Mirman and even a couple of plastic-enhanced groupies. Adler has put together a well-seasoned
group of musicians, with Michael Thomas of Faster Pussycat and Alex Grossi of Quiet Riot on
guitars, Chip Z'nuff of Enuff Z'Nuff on bass, and singer Rich Stitch of Ladyjack fronting the band.
The group mostly played Guns N' Roses songs from the Appetite album, with Stitch easily hitting
Axl's wild notes on Nightrain, Mr. Brownstone, and a particularly intense My Michelle. Michael
Thomas personified the lead guitarist image as he shredded across the stage, double-tapping
notes and effortlessly flying around the fretboard, switching off on solos with the equally talented
Grossi. But the true star of the night was Steven Adler, who jumped up from his drum kit several
times to take the mic and thank the audience for coming out. His distinctive tom-tom drum sound
led many songs, and aside from the chants of "Steven! Steven!" the joy in his playing was
obvious to all. Fans who have seen his struggles on VH1 or elsewhere could truly appreciate the
fact that all Adler has ever wanted to do was play music, and it felt rewarding to see the musician
finally living out his dream, smiling brilliantly behind his drum kit the entire night like a kid in a
candy store. Watch my video of Adler and his band playing Out Ta Get Me below.
The band hit some songs outside of the Appetite record as well, including power ballad Civil War,
Dylan cover Knockin' on Heaven's Door, and new song Alive. Stitch hit his stride on Rocket
Queen, never sounding more Axl-like as he crooned through the song's final verse. Thomas and
Grossi also introduced several songs with beautiful, instrumental guitar passages which
demonstrated the intense talent Adler has put together, making the show more than just a rehash
of 1980's Guns n' Roses. Throughout the performance, fans in the audience fiercely sang along
to song after song, every word of the generation-defining music still as powerful as 20 years ago.
As the night grew later and later, the packed crowd began to thin out, but those who stayed past
midnight were rewarded with G n' R hits Sweet Child O' Mine and a hard-rocking Paradise City,
which even spawned some momentary mosh pits during the frenzied guitar solos. The band
finally encored with the song that started it all, Welcome to the Jungle, completing their show
around 1 in the morning. Despite the late hour, Adler and his band were far from done, and
headed over to their merchandise booth for personal meet & greets with everyone who wanted to
say hello.
Even without knowledge of Steven Adler's personal story and struggles, Adler's Appetite put on a
tight, high energy show last night that more than did justice to the legendary Guns n' Roses
classics. The drummer-led band is almost top-heavy with talent and confidence, and the club
setting and intimate nature of the show felt far more genuine than recent performances by other
G n' R alumni and their bands (yes, looking at you Velvet Revolver). While Slash and Axl are
spectacularly unique musicians who could never be duplicated, Stitch and Thomas do a fantastic
job paying homage to their work. And once one factors in the history of Steven Adler, the
performance was downright heartwarming, as Adler appears to have fought off his demons of
addiction and is once again playing the music he loves, a story of tragedy and redemption if there
ever was one. The only disappointment of the night was the lack of a couple of noteworthy
Appetite cuts like It's So Easy and You're Crazy, but small complaint given the overwhelming
amount of Appetite material played otherwise.
While Axl fritters away in Europe and Duff writes Playboy columns, Adler and Slash are the only
Gunners still touring and playing the music that served as the voice of a generation. The world's
millions of G n' R fans, who spent a decade mourning the defunct band, finally have much to look
forward to as Adler and Slash go solo and return the music of Guns n' Roses to the masses.
Slash plays Terminal 5 in September, and Adler's Appetite will be playing again in New Jersey
next week at Dingbatz. For fans used to just a little live G n' R, the little is getting more and more,
and just a little better than before.

Nightclub hostess Rachel Uchitel reportedly ran from Celebrity Rehab after emotions
were stirred up surrounding her dad's death.
Uchitel, who was allegedly one of Tiger Wood's first mistresses, recently left the reality
show and it was not known why.
However TMZ claim Uchitel left after a one-on-one therapy session where she discussed
her father's demise from a cocaine overdose when he was in his forties and she was just
15.
But after spending a night away from Dr Drew Pinsky's facility in Pasadena she returned
the next day after her co-stars asked her to.

A healthier ‘Appetite’
Clean and sober at last, ex-Guns N’ Roses drummer has no Axl to grind
By Jed Gottlieb
Here are the highlights (lowlights?) of ex-Guns N’ Roses drummer Steven Adler’s new memoir, “My Appetite for
Destruction”: three suicide attempts, two heart attacks, a stroke and 28 overdoses.
It’s a daunting list of abuse Adler incurred while dancing with Mr. Brownstone - one the newly sober Adler
hopes he’ll never have to add to.
“I got sick and tired of coming to in the hospital or having some kids wake me up naked in the middle of the
street,” said Adler, who brings his band Adler’s Appetite to Showcase Live Saturday. “I can say that I was
lucky that I only had a stroke. At least I can still play drums.”
A regular on VH1’s “Celebrity Rehab” and “Sober House,” Adler’s life was a very public mess for a very long
time. All the juicy, and disgusting, details are chronicled in the tell-all.
But Adler, speaking from a Midwest tour stop last week, said the book isn’t just an attempt to cash in on
stories of watching Nikki Sixx OD and being tackled naked (clearly a fetish) in a hotel parking lot.
No, its primary goal was therapeutic.
“I wouldn’t be sitting in the Cracker Barrel in Wisconsin right now if I didn’t write the book,” he said, laughing
through his stroke-induced lisp. “There are some really devastating things in the book, and getting those
things out and actually reading the thing once I got them out made me realize I could move on with my life.
“Working on the book, I did my crying and yelling and pounding on the wall and throwing bricks through the
windows. Whatever it took to get those emotions out of me and onto the page, that’s what I did to heal.”
Clean and clearheaded for the first time in decades, Adler has learned to lean on the few friends who
haven’t abandoned him. There’s his band - singer Rick Stitch, bassist Chip Z’nuff and guitarists Alex Grossi
and Michael Thomas - most of whom have worked with Adler for years. Then there are his ex-junkie, nowsober peers in Motley Crue, Aerosmith and Guns N’ Roses.
“So many of us have gone through the same thing,” he said. “When somebody like Steven Tyler tells you
that he’s been through what you’ve been through and that you’re going to be OK, you’re going to listen.”
Adler’s sobriety has helped him repair some of his relationships with his ex-band mates. Slash has been
supportive of Adler’s recovery and invited the drummer to play on a track on his recent solo album.
But don’t think that a few of the Guns boys making amends is leading toward any kind of reunion.
“It’s not up to Slash or Duff or Izzy, who wouldn’t do it for the money but for the fans,” he said. “It’s all an Axl
deal. He’s got to be the one to say OK. But I won’t pray to God to talk to Axl because if God tried to talk to
Axl he’d make him wait. So I’m not going to bother God with that because he’ll come back to me saying,
‘Steven, you made me go talk to him and the (expletive) made me wait outside all day.”
And Adler’s not waiting.
After so much life wasted, he wants to work. He’s on a 50-city tour with Adler’s Appetite, playing “Appetite
for Destruction” in its entirety along with other G N’ R hits. He’s released a new single, “It’s Good to Be
Alive,” as a free download with the book. He’s learned to love studio sessions - something he can’t
remember much of from the G N’ R days - and hopes to have a new album out next year.
It’s not the same as releasing “Appetite for Destruction,” the biggest (and best) American metal album of all
time. But it’s a life. And after too many brushes with death, that’s more than good enough for Adler.

Book Review: Former Guns N' Roses
drummer writes memoir
Rocker is unapologetic about living life on the
edge.

Spagnola.
Book Review: Former Guns N' Roses drummer writes memoir
A rocker's life seems to be an endless party. But what happens when the partying takes over?
Steven Adler's memoir, "My Appetite for Destruction: Sex & Drugs & Guns N' Roses,” offers a heartbreaking
behind-the-scenes look at the band's creation — and eventual separation. He also describes his tendency toward
self-destruction from a very young age.
Adler started skipping school and doing drugs when he was 11 — and never looked back. He was kicked out of his
mother's house on numerous occasions before he was old enough to vote. His only consistent relationship was
with drugs and alcohol.
Adler was the drummer for Guns N' Roses from 1985 to 1990. He says he handed future bandmate Slash his first
guitar when they were 13 years old. They would jam day and night on the stoop of Slash's grandmother's house.
Adler explains that he never questioned whether he would be a rock star; it was just a matter of when.
Drugs were a large presence in his life, Adler writes, but he never saw it as a problem. Then he was kicked out of
Guns N' Roses because of it.
After being booted from the band, Adler spiraled down into depression and more drug use. Brushes with death
only kept him sober long enough so he could pull the tubes out of his arm and walk out of the hospital. But Adler
had to get clean. One more confrontation with the law and he was facing serious jail time.
Adler writes that he can only achieve a natural high when he's on the stage, so he dove into what he hoped would
be a new great band — Adler's Appetite — and his key to sobriety.
"Destruction” is a jolting look at what Adler did as an addict and a rock star, in that order. It's a haunting tale, yet
manages to come off with an air of innocence.
Rock-star memoirs tend to sound whiny. Adler never pretends to be anything other than a kid who fell down the
rabbit hole. He faced a lot of demons and did a lot of things he isn't proud of, but in the end, he blames no one but
himself.
Adler recently finished a stint in reality television on VH1's "Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew” and "Sober House.” It's
too soon to know how his tale will end. But if "Destruction” is any indication, it's sure to be a great read.

American Idol’ Executives Considering Jessica Simpson as

Throw Jessica Simpson’s name into the fold as a possible component of an ‘American
Idol’ shakeup
TheCelebrityCafe.com Staff
Speculation has been building up in recent days in regards to who will be chosen as
Simon Cowell’s replacement on the judging panel of Fox’s American Idol. Despite initial
rumors indicating that pop legends Justin Timberlake and Elton John were strong
candidates, reps for both singers quickly dismissed the erroneous reports on Wednesday.
However, according to Reality TV World, American Idol executives are considering pop
artist and reality television
veteran Jessica Simpson as a possible judge for the upcoming tenth season. Simpson’s
stint on MTV’s Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica helped to make her a household name
several years ago and she was most recently seen on TV as the host of VH1’s The Price
of Beauty.
“She’s met with [American Idol] producer-creator Simon Fuller several times,” a source
close to Simpson said. “They like her -- she’s a good fit -- and she likes it. Now it’s just a
question of how to fit her in.” The insider also revealed that Simpson would not be
brought in as Cowell’s replacement if she is hired.
“She’s not his replacement -- they’re two entirely different personalities,” the source said.
“This is part of a massive overhaul of the show. There may be more judges, more
opinions.” Simpson is certainly more well known on a mainstream level than other
heavily rumored possible additions such as Chris Isaak and Harry Connick Jr., but do you
feel that she is an optimal choice, readers?

Idol’ Executives Interested in Jessica Simpson as Judge
Speculation has been circulating in recent days as to who will be selected as a worthy
replacement for Simon Cowell on the judging panel of Fox’s long-running reality competition

According to Reality TV World, American Idol executives are interested in bringing pop

Her run on MTV’s Newlyweds: Nick and Jessica helped to make her a household name

Jessica Simpson, American idol and New Boyfriend
Eric Johnson in love
Now that former American Idol producer, Nigel Lythgoe , is back in the drivers seat, he wants all current
judges fired. Who would be the new line up? Nigel would take Simon Cowell’s place, Jessica Simpson
would take Ellen’s place, no word on who would replace Randy Jackson and Kara. Will fans still tune in with
all new judges? Can Nigel convince Paula Abdul to come back as well?
Jessica Simpson, a sweet Cancer girl, has a successful fashion career, with her shoe and purse line. Her
singing and television career have been on the decline. Her VH1 show, The Price of Beauty, tanked but is
reportedly being revamped. Now that American Idol wants her as a judge, will she even bother with VH1?
What has been most promising, is matters of the heart, with her new boyfriend NFL star, Eric Johnson. He
even put graduate program on ice, so he could stay in LA and be with his lady. Eric not even divorced from
his first wife, is head over heels for his new girl, Jessica Simpson. Will these two lovebirds be making a
holiday engagement announcement?
Jessica who just turned 30, is looking to settle down and have babies. Getting the American Idol judge gig
would be icing on the cake for our girl. Not only would she be paid millions of dollars per year, she would
have time to spend on her boo, Eric. Plus, she’s sweet and funny like Paula Abdul and American Idols would
probably fall in love with her goofy personality.
Astrologically, love might be challenging for Jessica over the next year. Eric Johnson on the rebound, may
end up getting cold feet on making a commitment so soon. Johnson a Virgo, is a pretty down to earth guy
and he may feel pressured or rushed by Jessica emotional needs. Either way, Astrochicks wishes Jessica
the best and hope she finds true love with or without Eric.

Levi's Targets Film Buffs With Gowalla,
Watch Parties
Christopher Heine | July 30, 2010 | 20 comments
Levi's hopes to connect with film buffs in a new Gowalla campaign that's co-branded by
a Texas-based movie-house-and-bar chain. The San Francisco-based jeans company and
Alamo Drafthouse are utilizing the geo-social platform's "Trips" feature, which lets users
share a curated list of places. The effort is dubbed "Rolling Roadshow."
The initiative - running from Aug. 6 through Aug. 27 - encourages people to check in
while visiting scene locations for the films in the nine cities where they took place. The
movies include "There Will Be Blood" (Bakersfield, CA), the first three "Rocky" films
(Philadelphia), "Dirty Harry" (San Francisco), "Jackie Brown" (Torrance, CA),
"Robocop" (Detroit), "On The Waterfront" (Hoboken, NJ), "The Blues Brothers" (Joliet,
Illinois), "Convoy" and "Red Dawn" (Las Vegas), and "The Godfather II" (New York,
NY).
The campaign chiefly entails a scavenger hunt-styled experience for Gowalla users. In
New York for "The Godfather II," users can accrue points by checking in at locations of
importance to the life of the movie's central character, Vito Corleone, including Ellis
Island and Caffe Reggio. In San Francisco for "Dirty Harry," points can be tallied by
checking in on the rooftop site where the character "Scorpio" achieves his first kill. Other
locations involving the relentless manhunt scenes with Harry and Scorpio are also part of
the game, according to a prepared statement by Austin, TX-based Gowalla.
The first 50 people to complete the tailored Trip in each city will receive a VIP prize
package to attend the Rolling Roadshow screening. For instance, winning players in
Philadelphia will be invited to watch the three "Rocky" films on the steps of the
Philadelphia Museum of Art - where Rocky Balboa finished his famous jog in "Rocky
III." As another example, Levi's and Alamo Drafthouse will sponsor a showing of "On
The Waterfront" near an old docking pier in Hoboken, NJ, where the film takes place.
Tim League, CEO of Alamo Drafthouse, said his firm - which includes 12 cinemas that
double as drinking/eating establishments - first worked with Gowalla on a similar
campaign centered on the South By Southwest music festival in March. For the current
effort, League explained that Levi's collaborated with his company in terms of choosing
the movies and locations and developing the overall promotional strategy.
"We look at it as 'the ultimate fan's guide' to each of the movies," he said. "If you are
obsessed with 'The Blues Brothers,' for example, we thought it would be cool to prime
yourself by visiting some of the most iconic locations from the film before attending the
screening."
Meanwhile, the two brands join a steady stream of other companies partnering with geolocation platforms. For instance, in the last week, Foursquare has unveiled initiatives with
VH1 and New York magazine. And earlier this month, Murphy's USA launched a test
with Whrrl that involved the participation of 1,000 gas stations.

Sean "Diddy" Combs interested in
becoming 'American Idol' judge
By Realiyt TV World staff, 07/29/2010
Sean "Diddy" Combs has had a change of heart and is now interested in replacing departed
judge Simon Cowell on American Idol's upcoming season -- for a price.
The rapper, music producer and reality star says he's willing to join Idol's judging panel if the
show's producers are willing to pay him to pay him as much as they were paying Cowell.
"At first when people were asking me if I was interested in the job I was like, 'no,' you know, my
ego was involved and all of that [and I said] 'No, that's not my style, I'm going to let them go do
that,'" he told George Lopez during Wednesday night's Lopez Tonight broadcast.
"But then when I heard how much Simon makes -- I would love the job! I was just like, 'I got six
kids, that check -- if I could get the same check that Simon gets -- we'd have a ball!'"
Combs' name had surfaced as a potential replacement for Cowell late last year before the
departed judge even formally announced he would be leaving American Idol to launch an
American adaptation of his British The X Factor reality competition on Fox after this past May's
ninth-season Idol finale.
In addition to Combs, music producer Quincy Jones, rapper and producer Kenneth "Babyface"
Edmonds, Idol creator Simon Fuller, music executive Rob Stevenson and entrepreneur Russell
Simmons had also been the subject of early speculation about Cowell's possible replacement.
However according to much more recent reports, Idol has been considering Harry Connick Jr.,
Chris Isaak, Elton John, Jessica Simpson and Justin Timberlake for judging positions on a
potentially entirely new panel that would no longer include remaining judges Randy Jackson,
Kara DioGuardi or Ellen DeGeneres.
Rumors that American Idol may be replacing its entire judging panel have surged since multiple
reports that former Idol producer Nigel Lythgoe -- who left the show in 2008 to focus on So You
Think You Can Dance -- is near a deal to return to the show surfaced on Monday.
Earlier this year, Lythgoe repeatedly told reporters he would address Cowell's exit by replacing
Idol's entire judging panel if he were still in charge of the show.
In addition to forming a series of new pop bands via MTV's Making the Band reality competitions,
which he produced and starred in beginning with its second season, Combs also searched for a
new solo pop star via P. Diddy's Starmaker -- an American Idol-like 2009 MTV reality competition
in which he served as one of the show's four judges.
He has also produced and starred in two seasons of I Want to Work for Diddy, a VH1 reality
series similar to The Apprentice.

'Jersey Shore' season premiere recap:
Cartoons over Miami
by Michael Slezak
Categories: EWWWWWWWWWW.com, Grooming, Horror, Jersey Shore, Reality TV,
Television
If you’re looking for a metaphor to describe tonight’s second-season premiere of Jersey
Shore, how about the SUV that The Situation and Pauly D drove into a South Carolina
corn field during their road-trip to Miami? Tires spinning, covered in filth, and sinking
under its own unfeasible weight, the vehicle needed not one, but two tow-trucks to drag it
back to a functioning position. I’m not sure if there’s a similar service available for
overexposed reality-show participants, but oh what I wouldn’t have given to see a
character named Triple A round up Snooki, JWoww, Angelina, The Situation, Ronnie,
Pauly D, and the super boring dude with the carefully sculpted eyebrows for either a
badly needed tuneup or a trip to the scrap heap.
Yeah, I’m being harsh, but do Jersey Shore‘s pack of self-proclaimed guidos and
guidettes really deserve better? My problem with tonight’s episode wasn’t the fact that
every word and action from the cast was a total contrivance — that’d be like going to
McDonald’s and being outraged that your Big Mac didn’t come served on fine china —
but that said contrivances were so thoroughly and exhaustingly void of humor,
originality, or even genuine outlandishness.
Such a short way into their celebrity life-cycle, you can practically feel the Jersey Shore
kids buying into their own hype, believing they needn’t do anything beyond just showing
up, of going through the motions of what they think the show’s producers think their lives
should look like: “Eyebrows” declares his “60 girls in 60 days” policy with all the sexual
fervor of a movie-theater concessions clerk telling you that you can upgrade to a medium
combo for only fifty cents more. Angelina (who even in her dreams isn’t an eighth as
bawdy-hilarious as Khloe Kardashian) goes to a salon to get a Brazilian wax, but can’t
think of anything more clever to say than “The bitch of Staten Island is back and ready to
f****** party!” And oh, how about Ronnie and Sammi? He calls her an unspeakable
insult — hint: it rhymes with grunt — and she goes home and films a confessional saying
she still loves and cares about him because, well, without a will-they-won’t-they story arc
to perpetuate, she’ll just be a third banana to Snooki and JWoww. (Spoiler alert: She still
is anyway!)
But I’m supposed to be writing a jaunty recap, not a self-help manual for young women
with severe self-esteem issues or a screed against what’s wrong with pretty much
everything ever. So let’s do an alphabetical rundown of our players and what they got up
to this week:
Angelina: “I feel like in the world, everybody deserves a second shot,” she declared at
the top of the show, though whether she was talking about Patrón, Jägermeister, or
redemption is anyone’s guess. Our Lady of Misunderstood Intentions/Achingly
Unselfaware Blathering then “surprised” her estranged cast-mates by flying to Miami and
foisting herself on them for a second season. Angelina was allowed to bunk with Pauly D
and The Situation on the off chance that they experienced a “slow night” with “no
chicks” and a rainy forecast. (Silly me, and here I thought that’s why God invented the
Wii.) Angelina, who spent most of the episode in shorts so skimpy that the pockets hung
below her cuffs like sad, drooping tongues, found herself getting the icy cold shoulder
from Snooki and JWoww — that is until she got into a cab with them, participated in an
unintelligible but very loud verbal altercation, and then announced in her confessional:
“I’m tryin’ to be classy right now.” Someone raise a “mission accomplished” banner in
that young woman’s honor!
Eyebrows: Coined the word “obliviated” to describe Ronnie’s alarmingly drunken state.
Otherwise seemed to exist merely to offer expository sound bites for the show’s editing
team.
JWoww: Road-tripped it to Miami with Snooki, and somehow found time to change into
an elegant pink sequined dress before entering the cast’s shared apartment at Metropole
Hotel Apartments. (Newsflash: The hottub is gonna need a few more years before it’s
safe again.) I loved the way JWoww got all puffed up when she realized Angelina was in
the house, declaring “I’m not gonna let a girl be catty and get away with it and live in my
house without getting her ass beat.” (Wait, if the girl is in your house and going to get her
ass beat, then how come you’re also implying she got away with it? Discuss!) I couldn’t
understand half of what JWoww said while attempting to scramble over the back seat of
the rental car and apply a coat of smackdown to Angelina — a steady succession of
bleeps will do that to one’s listening comprehension — but it sure made Sammi and
Snooki laugh.
Pauly D: Implied he drunkenly hooked up with Angelina in L.A. during the Jersey Shore
offseason. I’d like to see a polygraph, Mr. D.
Ronnie: I nominate Ronnie for ABC’s next Bachelor. Just think about the unique
attributes he brings to the game: Able to make out with two women at the same time
(handy during two-on-one dates); doesn’t discriminate against strippers (allowing for a
wider casting net of bachelorettes); states the obvious with wit and panache (“I’m in
Miami, bitch!” he shouted to no one in particular); and did we mention his expressive use
of the c-word? But don’t take my testimonial for it, take Sammi’s: “I love him and still
care about him.” Wait, is she saying she would absolutely accept his rose? But here’s my
burning question about Ronnie: Why in the name of all that’s Jersey would all those
unidentified women make out with the lumbering lummox — in plain view of MTV’s
cameras? People aren’t that desperate to be on TV, right? Discuss!
Sammi: Oh enough about this one and her issues, already! (At least till she has a physical
altercation with JWoww.)
Snooki: Okay, I know I was pushing Ronnie for Bachelor, but with the way Snooki
described her relationship with her “amazing gorilla juicehead” boyfriend, it sounded like
she was advocating the launch of Bumpit of Love on VH1 in the not-so-distant future. “I
really don’t wanna cheat. Like seriously, I don’t want to. But y’know, if you’re gonna
hand me a bottle of freakin’ SoCo [translation: Southern Comfort?], something just
comes over me, and like I just go crazy,” Snooki said. Later, she got political: “I don’t go
tanning-tanning anymore. Obama put a 10 percent tax on tanning. And I feel like he did
that intentionally to us. McCain would never put a 10 percent tax on tanning because he’s
pale and he would probably wanna be tan. Obama doesn’t have that problem, obviously.”
What more is there to say than that, really? Actually, I should observe that Snooki’s
thrice-daily bronzer looks like it comes in a container of diner syrup.
The Situation: While the late Princess Diana spent a lot of her adult life trying to raise
awareness of land mines, I’m not sure she’d be exactly flattered to find that Sitchu is
attempting to make the phrase happen as a code word for “thin ugly chick,” or that he’s
using the term “grenade” to label “bigger ugly chicks.” Sigh. But let’s not waste the
pretty and instead part ways reviewing this overly long, but truly poetic sound bite, from
the Sitchu himself: “It was a crazy amount of tension. I mean, it was so thick you could
probably like slice it down the middle in the air. That’s how thick it was.” Alrighty then!
What did you think of the second-season premiere of Jersey Shore? Will it be as much of
a phenomenon as it was during season 1? Share your thoughts below, and to get all my
pop-culture news and commentary, follow me on Twitter @EWMichaelSlezak.

Fantasia explores fame's bittersweet ways
BY KATTI GRAY - CORRESPONDENT
At the start of a lickety-split interview she grants between tapings for the reality TV show featuring her, her
kin and her artistic entourage, Fantasia Barrino first extends a few pleasantries. "Thank you so much for
taking time out to speak with me," she says. "Can you hear me OK?"
Her life is a whirlwind of activity these days, she says, during that fast break between filming. There are the
VH1 television tapings for "Fantasia For Real." She's pondering how to further her education now that the
high school dropout recently earned her GED. ("Nothing felt as good as getting that diploma. It means the
world to me.") And she's juggling the single parenting of 9-year-old Zion and a career that has her releasing
a new album, "Back To Me," whose lead single, "Bittersweet," is very much autobiographical.
The video Barrino directed for the single tells the story of a man and a female celebrity ensnared in relational
angst, torn over whether to stay together or call it quits. At the end, the woman tosses her diamond ring out
of the window of her departing limousine, making Fantasia's message about romantic bliss and break-up
quite clear.
"Let's just say that in everything I do, I like to be for real. It becomes something that people can relate to,"
says the eight-time Grammy nominee, whose "American Idol" win launched her into stardom.
"'Bittersweet' speaks about how, in a relationship, a woman could have messed up and a man could have
messed up and you end up destroying something that was very, very sweet."
That snippet from her personal life will be offered up on stage as part of the lineup during Saturday's Soul
Picnic, which kicks off at 3 p.m. Also on the bill are Durham's Foreign Exchange, Monroe-born Calvin
Richardson, Doug E. Fresh and Chuck Brown.
"Fantasia is the ideal person for the Soul Picnic because, for one thing, she's from North Carolina," says
Mark Brown, managing partner of Dynasty 5, which is producing the show. "She appeals to all ages. She
brings everything out there on the stage when she performs. She's just real. She's doing what she loves and
giving her testimony through her music. Because of that, people feel like they know her. There are so many
who have gone through situations similar to what she's gone through and they feel they can relate to her on
that deep level."
Making a connection
For her own part, Fantasia says she is honored to make that kind of connection with her audience.
"With me, it just so happens that my life has been so public," she says. Indeed, her father is suing her for a
second time over allegedly false depictions of him. (The lawsuits are matters she'd rather not discuss.)
Being steadily in the public eye and under public scrutiny strains, Fantasia says, especially as she struggles
to be "a mom, a sister, a daughter, a best friend. It's tough. I'm just 26 years old."
"It's always been a question of 'what's she doing, who's she dating?' Sometimes people think we're not
human because we're celebrities. The lesson of this new song, 'Bittersweet,' is that you have to live your
own life. You have to follow your own heart. A lot of times, when people say you shouldn't be with this
person or that person, you can get confused. But there's an old gospel song that says 'Sweep around your
own front door before trying to sweep around mine.'"
Eye on the economy
That her career is emerging during a hair-raising recession doesn't help, she says. But she aims to keep
even that in perspective. "Of course the economy is jacked up. It's hitting everybody. But my main thing has
never been about making a dollar or being number one. It's been to use my life as a testimony, to look my
fans in the eye and give them the truth.
"My prayer has been: 'God if you take it all away today, I'll be fine.' I grew up knowing what it feels like to eat
grits and bologna all week long because that was all we had. If I had to, I could do that again. You just have
to keep going on. You have to keep fighting ... And that, to me, is OK."

'Project Runway': Where are they now?
Season 1 Winner: Jay McCarroll
( Wireimage.com )
By Stephanie Lysaght and Emily Christianson, Los Angeles Times
Why is this "Project Runway" winner different from all others? Well, after being crowned the victor of Season 1,
McCarroll turned down the $100,000 prize.
After rejecting the dough, McCarroll poured all his money into his Transport collection, a line of animal friendly
duds created in conjunction with the Humane Society and later launched The Colony fashion boutique via his
website www.jaymccarroll.com.
McCarroll has stayed close to the "Project Runway" family, both appearing on later seasons and starring in the
hilarious Bravo documentary "Project Jay." His second documentary, "Eleven Minutes," followed the designer as
he prepared a collection for New York Fashion Week.
He returned to reality TV in 2010 for VH1's "Celebrity Fit Club: Boot Camp." Working out alongside stars like Bobby
Brown and Kevin Federline, McCarroll is now slimmer than ever.

Pilar Sanders Brings VH1 Reality Show Crew to D Magazine
Headquarters

Pilar Sanders, the wife of former NFL and MLB player Deion Sanders, visited our
humble offices downtown yesterday. She came for a photo shoot for a little contest we’ll
start running online in a couple weeks. Other women have also been brought in for this
shoot, and it typically takes us about 15 minutes to get them in and back out the door
again.
With Mrs. Sanders, it took our team about an hour. That’s because she arrived with the
crew of a VH1 reality show in tow. They’re shooting a program about footballers’ wives.
(No, not the British soap.) Pilar appears to be a pro in front of the cameras, having
appeared in an Oxygen show with her husband. At times, the film crew asked for
multiple takes of the same action, as when they asked our shopping editor Raya Ramsey
and Mrs. Sanders to make a second entrance into the photo studio.
Our video intern Robbie Curtis captured some of the fun and put a dance beat under it,
just to make your Friday morning a little groovier. You’ll spot Raya and D’s own jackof-all-trades, Matt Shelley, the photographer for this shoot.
