UNDERSTANDING AND MITIGATING CONCRETE FLOOR MOISTURE ISSUES
Designing and construction of a low moisture concrete floor slab is a working balance of specifications,
materials, means and methods. Moisture related flooring problems continue to be a common occurrence
and a costly challenge for designers, contractors and floor covering companies. This encore presentation
picks up on our last Workshop discussion to pre-plan and mitigate floor moisture issues as we connect
Division 2 and division 9.

 Bob Lucas, FLOORinSPEC; ACI, ICRI, WFCA – Over 30 years of multi-level flooring industry experience; installation, project
management, operations management; independent industry consultant/inspector/testing-agent since 2003 specializing in
commercial flooring needs and concrete substrate and moisture considerations.
 Marc Chavez with ZGF Architects LLP; FCSI, AIA, CCS, CCCA Chavez has been an experienced technical architect for 28 years.
Marc has been actively specifying buildings; their components and conducting material research for over 17 years. His
expertise in architectural practice is centered on document production, construction management and writing specifications.
