Key Selection Criteria
In direct response to your requirements, I submit the following:
1. Demonstrated knowledge of initiatives in student learning
including the Standards, the Principles of Learning and
Teaching P-12 and Assessment and Reporting Advice and
the ability to design curriculum programs consistent with
their intent.

I demonstrate my knowledge of initiatives in student learning including the Standards
and the ability to design curriculum programs consistent with their intent in the
following ways:

I have used VELS extensively to support my lesson planning and have implemented
lessons effectively across the various domains in the upper year levels.

Using the VELS for my planning I have able to effectively plan and implement a variety of
interesting and engaging lessons from an integrated planning perspective. This had enabled
students to target specific learning to their own interests and build on their individual prior
knowledge.


In this way I demonstrate my knowledge and implementation of VELS, PoLT and the
assessment and reporting advice across P-6. I also demonstrate that I have a commitment to
providing students with an interesting, engaging and relevant curriculum that meets their
needs.
2. Demonstrate an understanding of how students learn and
effective classroom teaching strategies and the capacity to
work with colleagues to continually improve teaching and
learning.
Students learn in different ways or styles and I am committed to developing a program which
engages all students.
All students bring their unique learning styles and difference to the classroom environment. This
means that I must be well versed and prepared to cater a vast array of individual needs.
To help support and foster learning the learning the environment should be stimulating, engaging
and offering a range of resources that cater to a range of individual needs. The learning program
needs to be inclusive and integrated to allow students to enter and exit at their own level and
pace. In doing this effective teachers place great emphasis and value on their students
backgrounds and cultural differences.

teaching strategies and the capacity to work with colleagues to continually improve
teaching and learning i the following ways:

Throughout my teaching placements I have planned, executed and modified lesson that
have catered for a diverse range of learners. In doing this, students have been able to
negotiate their learning which in turn provided a greater level of engagement.

Whilst working at Icanteach Primary School I effectively adapted my learning program to
support the needs of a number autistic students…..this was a benefit to the school/students..

In this way I demonstrate my understanding of effective teaching strategies that lead to quality
learning for all students whilst working in collaborating with others towards continual
improvement
3. Capacity to monitor and assess student learning data and
to use this data to inform teaching for improved student
learning.
Assessment is an essential part of teaching and learning, it informs teachers of how to
design their curriculum around student needs. Ongoing monitoring provides students with
meaningful feedback to build their confidence and encourage continued effort.

student learning. In negotiating these assessment criteria with students, students were able
to have direct input into the monitoring of various tasks.

Written professional documentation to communicate valuable info to parents/ guardians as
well as undertaken and engaged in professional and informal discussions with parents
regarding their child to improve learning and well being.

In my role as a media officer timely and accurate written communication is vital to ensure
adherence to government legislation and procedures.

Throughout my university course I have written a variety of submissions across various
areas of the curriculum and have created and presented verbal presentations to academics
and other professional colleagues.
In the above I demonstrate my ability to effectively communicate to a wider audience
using a variety of methods. I further demonstrate high level skills in developing strong,
supportive and constructive relationships with colleagues, students, parents and the
wider community.
5. Demonstrated commitment and capacity to actively
contribute to a broad range of school activities and a
capacity to reflect on, evaluate and improve professional
knowledge and practice.
