1976 San Juan 21
This is a 1976 San Juan 21 hull number 1546 with gear and trailer. She represents a time capsule
of this classic swing keel trailerable design. She is in good shape and ready to sail on the water.
Her hull and deck are solid with no oil-canning. She has been used sparingly and has most of her
original equipment. The complete inventory of sails are fully functional. The hull and decks are
firm and in good shape. I bought the boat three years ago to sail in Lake Dillon to gain more
sailing knowledge and introduce my friends to sailing.
Te specifications are:
ement: 1400 lb.
All gear is intact and serviceable. The interior has been upgraded to include: all new wiring, new battery
with an external solar charger, new electrical panel, new stereo with CD player and wiring for I-pod, new
stereo speakers, propane stove, two interior lights, new battery and new paint in v-birth. It also has a new
running light. I oiled all exterior teak this Spring. The windows were re-caulked. I pulled the main keel
bolt for inspection (looked fine) and rebedded it.
The following gear comes with the boat:
All standing and running rigging
Sails -Original Main and Jib in remarkable condition for the age-2 additional Jibs, one brand new
Sails- 150% Genoa and Spinnaker with pole
Sail Bags
Full cabin cushions (Sleeps four-if you’re very good friends)
Kick-up rudder with tiller extension- spare rudder handle
Sail Cover
Boat Trailer- Trailer completely refurbished October 2008: Tires are good, new wheels, bearings/buddies,
wiring, lights, and 2" coupler. Spare tire is not new but in good shape.
Johnson Seahorse7.5 HP motor
Winch handle
5' Paddle
Whisker pole
Boat hook, telescoping
Dock lines
All necessary safety equipment- life vests (4), whistle, fire extinguisher (2)
Anchor and rode, swim steps, and extra lines
This boat is in remarkable shape for its age. Due to her age there is some gel-coat crazing, but it's
minimal. Her bright-work is solid but could be sanded and re-finished. She is a pleasure to sail, very
forgiving, and is a fast boat. She has been always stored on trailer, under full tarp covered. Each Winter I
have had it protected under a custom cover using PVC piping and two tarps. Each Spring the interior and
exterior have been completely dry. Make no mistake it is a 34year old boat so it is not in showroom
condition but it also doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. Total rig weight with trailer is about 2500#.
Setup/takedown is easy: the mast can be raised and lowered single-handed, with the forestay the only
standing rigging to be attached/detached.
From the San Juan 21s I have seen this is in better shape than any of them. The boat comes as-is but if
you are looking for one of these classics; it is in way above average shape. I have a clear Colorado title
for both the boat and the trailer I worked on her last summer and the beginning of this summer to get her
in good shape. This one is perfect for trailering and weekend sailing. The only reason I am selling it is
because I want to do more extensive sailing.
The price is $3,800.00 and includes the boat slip at the Frisco Marina for the remainder of the season and
the trailer. The slip can be renewed under your name for the following year.
