SENSATIONAL CASE OF ROBBERY OF DESH BANDHU GUPTA ROAD OF MUMBAI

BASED DIAMOND MERCHANTS WORKED OUT.

 ANOTHER CASE OF ROBBERY OF A JEWELLER OF KAROL BAGH AT PITAMPURA,

MAURYA ENCLAVE ALSO WORKED OUT.

6 PERSONS INCLUDING THE RECEIVER OF STOLEN PROPERTY ARRESTED. STOLEN

JEWELLERY WORTH RS.20 LACS RECOVERED.

2 MOTORCYCLES USED IN COMMITTING CRIME HAS BEEN RECOVERED. ONE

SKODA AND THREE EXPENSIVE SMART PHONES HAVE ALSO BEEN SEIZED.

On 14.05.2014, a sensational case of robbery took place during the evening hours in the congested area of Desh Bandhu Gupta Road where two Mumbai based diamond merchants in a vehicle were intercepted near Liberty Cinema by miscreants on motorcycles. Two of the miscreants got down from the motorcycles and one of them broke the window shield of the vehicle. After assaulting the occupants of the car, they took away the bag containing jewellery and cash at gun point. All of them then fled on the motorcycles.

A team led by Inspr Rajbir Singh and comprising of SIs Rishi Ram, Rajneesh Sharma, Ramesh

Kumar, HCs Virender, Sant Ram, Satbir, Sham Lal, Bahadur, Narender, Rajender, Mohan Lal and Cts

Parvej Alam, Anil, Atul, Jagbir & Gyaneshwar under the supervision of ACP Sanjeev Tomar and overall supervision of DCP Crime Kumar Gyanesh was constituted for solving the case.

After making painstaking and tireless efforts, information was received on 18.05.2014 by HC

Virender and Ct. Parvez Alam that the robbers alongwith their associates would assemble at Karol Bagh.

On this information, a trap was laid and 6 persons were apprehended. They were identified as (1)

Harcharan Singh (aged 22 years) s/o Manmohan Singh r/o B-2/347, Tara Nagar, Kakrola, Delhi (2)

Satender Pal Singh @ Prince @ Fraudy (aged 24 years) s/o Kuldeep Singh r/o A-54, Asha Park, Jail Road,

Delhi (3) Ravinder @ Babloo (aged 24 years) s/o Mukesh Kumar r/o H.No.1/8, Rani Garden, Shastri

Nagar, Delhi (4) Harpreet Singh @ Hunny @ London (aged 21 years) s/o Harvinder Singh r/o B-1/145,,

Vishnu Garden, Delhi (5) Ashok Kumar (aged 40 years) s/o Raghubir Singh r/o A-11,, Dewan Estate,

Bhagwati Garden, Delhi and (6) Tarun Adhikari (aged 29 years) s/o Ravinder Nath Adhikari r/o

H.No.2600, Gali No.5, Beedanpura, Karol Bagh, Delhi. Some stolen jewellery that they had robbed from the Mumbai based jewellers and two motorcycles used by them for committing the robbery and a Skoda has been seized. Three expensive smart phones purchased from the booty of the crime have also been seized. They have been arrested under the appropriate sections of the law.

On sustained interrogation, it was revealed that apart from being involved in the robbery of Mumbai based Jewellers, they had committed another robbery of a Delhi based jeweller. On 20.04.2014, in the area of PS Maurya Enclave, they intercepted the Karol Bagh based jeweller near KU Block, Pritampura when he was about to board his vehicle. They threw chilli powder on his face, assaulted him with the butt of a weapon and then decamped with his bag containing jewellery.

On sustained interrogation of the arrested persons, it was revealed that Harcharan Singh is the gang leader. He came in contact with Dilip, working in a jewellery shop at Bank Street. Through Dilip, he came in contact with two goldsmiths i.e. Ashok Kumar and Tarun Adhikari. Harcharan Singh’s other associates in his nefarious activities were his friend Harpreet Singh @ Hunny @ London, Satenderpal Singh @ Prince

@ Fraudy, Ravinder @ Babloo, Anu and Sanjay. In order to earn quick money and enjoy a lavish life style, they decided to commit robberies of jewellers. Dilip provided information about the jewellers to

Tarun Adhikari and Ashok Kumar. They in turn provided the information to Harcharan Singh. Harcharan

Singh alongwith his associates then planned and executed the robberies. Tarun Adhikari and Ashok Kumar helped Harcharan Singh not only in providing the information about the jewellers but being goldsmiths, they also helped in disposing the robbed jewellery.

In the incident mentioned above , wherein they had robbed the Mumbai based diamond merchants, the miscreants in two motorcycles had assembled near the hotel at Karol Bagh in which the Mumbai based diamond merchants were staying. They then trailed the diamond merchants, who were in a hired taxi and intercepted them when they felt safe to commit the robbery.

In the incident of 20.04.2014, the robbers on 3 motorcycles had assembled near the shop of the jeweller at Karol Bagh and then trailed him and intercepted him near Pritampura where they robbed him.

The profile of accused persons are as under:-

(1) Harcharan Singh (aged 22 years) s/o Manmohan Singh r/o Kakrola, Delhi. He completed his graduation through correspondence from a distant university. He was in the profession of interior designing. In 2013, he was arrested in an auto lifting case at PS Hari Nagar.

(2) Harpreet Singh @ Hunny @ London (aged 21 years) s/o Harvinder Singh r/o Vishnu Garden, Delhi.

He is 10 th

class drop out. Previously, he is involved in 6 cases of snatching and theft.

(3) Satender Pal Singh @ Prince @ Fraudy (aged 24 years) s/o Kuldeep Singh r/o Asha Park, Near Jail

Road, New Delhi. He is 10 th

class drop out. He is unemployed. Previously, he is involved in 3 cases of theft, snatching and extortion.

(4) Ravinder @ Babloo (aged 24 years) s/o Mukesh r/o Rani Garden, Shastri Garden, Delhi. He has studied upto 10 th

class from Open School, Delhi. He is welder by profession and has a shop at

Shastri Park, Delhi.

(5) Tarun Adhikari (aged 29 years) s/o Ravinder Nath r/o Beadonpura, Karol Bagh, Delhi. He is a goldsmith having his shop at Beadonpura, Karol Bagh, Delhi. He has studied upto 8 th

class.

(6) Ashok Kumar (aged 40 years) s/o Raghubar Singh r/o Bhagwati Garden, Delhi. He has studied upto

12 th

class. He is in the jewellery polishing business at Beadonpura, Karol Bagh, Delhi.

RECOVERY:

1.

Gold and diamond jewellery worth Rs.20 lacs.

2 Motorcycles used in the commission of crime.

 12 STOLEN CARS INCLUDING HIGH END VEHICLES RECOVERED.

AND ALREADY HAD OVER 15 CRIMINAL CASES REGISTERED AGAINST

HIM.

HAD A UNIQUE MODUS OPERRANDI FOR DISPOSAL OF VEHICLES.

INTRODUCTION:

With the arrest of 2 persons namely (1) Saqib @ Shakir (aged 29 years) s/o Firozuddin r/o 1605, Sui Walan, Gali Sakke Wali, Turkman Gate, Chandni Mahal, Delhi and (2) Pawan @

Jagga (aged 57 years) s/o Roshan Lal r/o H.No.3, Ground Floor, Gali B 1, Ashok Vihar,

Gurgoan, Haryana, Anti-Snatching Cell of Crime Branch has busted a gang of auto lifters and solved 6 cases of auto lifting of PS Rani Bagh, Kalkaji, Pachim Vihar, Maurya Enclave, K.N.Katju

Marg, New Ashok Nagar Delhi and recovered 12 stolen cars and a motorcycle.

INCIDENT:

In order to prevent the incidents of auto lifting in Delhi, a team of Anti- Snatching Cell,

Crime Branch were assigned to develop the information and to nab the criminals. The team developed the information and efforts put-in by the team yielded results and on 14.05.2014 when information was received by HC Deepak Tyagi that one Pawan @ Jagga r/o Muktsar,

Punjab, is involved in auto lifting and presently in the possession of a stolen Innova, stolen vide

FIR No.304/14 PS Maurya Enclave Delhi is residing in Muktsar, Punjab. Immediately, a raiding team comprising of SIs Ramesh Kumar, Virender Tyagi and HCs Deepak Tyagi, Suresh, Birender,

Surender, Naresh, Deepak Tyagi, M M Khan, Kapil Tyagi and Cts Ranbir, Sanjay, Ashok and

Sarabjeet Singh led by Inspr Anand Singh under the close supervision of ACP Ram Mehar Singh and overall guidance of DCP Crime Kumar Gyanesh left for Muktsar, Punjab and apprehended

Pawan @ Jagga and recovered Innova from his possession.

On further investigation, 2 Alto cars, 1 Indigo and a motorcycle were also recovered at his instance from Muktsar Punjab. At the instance of Pawan, accused Saqib @ Shakir was apprehended in Delhi and a Innova, 2 Swift, 2 indigo, a Santro & a Beat car were recovered from his godown at Jagatpur Ext., Wazirabad Delhi.

MODUS OPERANDI:

Both the accused persons used to procure total loss/damaged cars from different insurance Companies. Thereafter, they used to arrange for stolen cars of same make car and tampered the engine & chassis numbers of the stolen cars according to the papers of damaged/total loss car and sold them as genuine. They used to dispose-off the stolen cars in UP,

Punjab, Haryana and Delhi.

Both the accused persons were arrested in case FIR No.304/14 u/s

379/411/468/471/482/34 IPC PS Maurya Enclave Delhi. Concern Police Stations have been informed accordingly.

Further investigation is in progress.

RECOVERY:

11 cars and 1 motorcycle including 2 Innova, 2 Swift, 2 Alto, 3 Indigo, 1 Beat & 1 Santro and 1 motorcycle have been recovered.

PROFILE:

Saqib @ Shakir is about 29 years of age and has studied upto 8 TH standard. He left his studies and joined company of bad elements of the area and started committing crime. He was first arrested at the age of 15 yrs and from there he became a habitual criminal. Previously, he is involved in about 15 criminal cases of auto theft.

Pawan @ Jagga s/o Roshan Lal is about 57 years of age.He has studied up to 10 TH standard in his native village namely Fazilka, Punjab. He worked as a medical representative till 1981 in

Punjab. Thereafter, he came to Muktsar Punjab and opened a clothing shop. He met with

Amarjeet, who used to sell stolen vehicles in Punjab. In the year of 2003, he was arrested alongwith Amarjeet by Batala Police, Punjab. After released from jail, he come to Chandigarh alongwith his family and again indulged in the sale/purchase of stolen vehicles. In the year

2011, he came to Gurgoan. He is involved in about 7 criminal cases of auto theft.

TWO SNATCHERS ARRESTED

The staff of police station Nihal Vihar has arrested two snatchers namely Sumit Kumar and

Shashi Sharma and solved a case FIR No.350/14, U/s 356/379/411/34 IPC, PS Nihal Vihar, Delhi. One mobile phone and Rs.120/- cash have been recovered from their instance.

NAME & PROFILE OF ACCUSED ARRESTED:-

1.

Sumit Kumar S/o Durga Prasad R/o H.No.29A, 1B Block, Nangloi Extn. Delhi, age 20 years. He is perusing 12 th class from open school and belongs to a poor family. He indulged himself in petty crime due to poverty. He works as a security guard in ITD company, Peeragarhi, Delhi part time.

2.

Sashi Sharma S/o Shyam Babu Sharma R/o H.No.50, C-2, Block, Nangloi, Delhi, age 22 years. He has studied upto 8 th class and after that he left the school because of poverty. He works as a security guard in ITD company, Peeragarhi, Delhi part time.

RECOVERIES:-

Rs.120/- cash only.

INCIDENT:-

On 19/05/2014 at 6:15 PM, HC Ashok Kumar No. 547/W along with Ct Rati Ram No. 2301/W was on patrolling near Shiv Vihar , Rishal Garden , Nilothi, Delhi. They noticed that two persons were running and one person was chasing him shouting “CHOR CHOR”. The said persons returned back after seeing the police official. HC Ashok along with Ct. Rati Ram had also started to chase them and with the help of complainant

Raj Kishore S/o Jhagru Chaudhry R/o H.No.17, Gali No. 1, Shiv Vihar, Rishal Garden, Delhi caught hold them after a short distance who were later on identified as Sumit Kumar and Sashi Sharma.

INVESTIGATION:-

During the course of investigation, it has been found that accused namely Sumit Kumar and Sashi

Sharma snatched the mobile phone and one polythin containing Rs.120 from the complainant Raj Kishore. In this regard a case was also registered vide FIR No.350/14, U/s 356/379/411/34 IPC, PS Nihal Vihar, Delhi.

The snatched mobile phone has been recovered from their possession. In this matter both the persons have been arrested and investigation is being carried out.

The staff involved in good work is being rewarded suitably.
