HEALY MultiBeam Sonar Replacement Analysis General Draft
General Scope : Ship Check and red line all Seabeam multibeam sonar system related drawings. Estimate the costs of replacing the existing multibeam sonar system with a new system that essentially meets projected 2010, and beyond, AICC requirements.
Tasks :
1.
Compare the current Multibeam Sonar drawings with the actual installation and update the drawings. Include Structural, Electrical/Electronics, and Arrangements of all system components from the array to computer components.
2.
Evaluate electrical power requirements.
3.
Tasks 1. and 2. will be accomplished via a ship check in the Fall of 2006 when
HEALY is in drydock, Seattle Washington.
4.
Using AICC requirements, and teaming with the AICC members or consultants, conduct a search of existing multibeam sonar systems that either meet or come close to meeting Science Community (AICC/NSF) requirements. This is not meant to be a trade study on multibeams, but a search for a representative candidate system and identifying its structural, electrical, and arrangement requirements.
5.
Based on the candidate system, identify structural and electrical changes to
HEALY that would be required to accommodate the new candidate system and estimate the cost of
Procuring the new system and all components and relevant technical manuals, software, hardware, spare parts, and initial consumables.
Removing the existing sonar system.
Installing the new system.
Installation testing, underway testing and calibrating the new system.
Contingency Items :
1.
Update existing red line drawings (cost will depend on magnitude of red line changes in Task 1.)
2.
Draft a baseline multibeam sonar system procurement specification. (based on current requirements)
3.
Draft a baseline installation specification (based on AICC recommended system)
4.
Draft a Test and Evaluation Plan
