Dear Dr Hildebrandt,
I am happy for you to use my essay 'In Praise of Ancient
Scribes' for
your students by putting it on the web in text and by reading it
for an
audio format. It would be preferable if the text version
included the
illsutrations.
I do not recall seeing the Bible and Spade
reproduction
of my essay. It was published originally in The Biblical
Archaeologist 45
(1982) 143-54, and that reference should be given.
I hope that your work on Proverbs will include the papers on
the book
by my colleague Professor Kenneth Kitchen.

Ted,
I'm honored that you would think of putting that small offering on
Urim
online.
Please feel free to use it in whatever way you wish.
My apologies for a tardy response but if the office assistant was
properly
working you will no doubt have received notification that I was out
of town.
Actually, my wife and I only got back yesterday from England where
we had
been since the Thurs before Thanksgiving. We visited my mother who
is doing
poorly and basically is waiting for the Lord to take her home to
glory where
she now prefers to be.
ETS is always difficult for me to attend mainly for budget reasons.
If I
offer a workshop the seminary would pay, if not I pay. Trouble is
I usually
can't figure out what to do as a workshop worthy of inclusion among
the
hundreds already clogging the system:)
Yes, I am enjoying my time here.
to work
Have good supportive colleagues
alongside and a very good boss, Dick Mayhue, under whom to work and
serve.
Colleen and I are also part of the senior staff with Grace on
Campus at UCLA
Friday evenings, and I serve as missions advisor on the Elder's
Council
Handling Outreach. All in all we're kept busy.
Trust all is well with you in your new endeavor at Gordon College.
I was
truly impressed with the interactive video you showed at ETS two
years ago
or so.
Sincerely, as a brother in Christ.

Trevor,
I am in the process of building an OT Learning environment online
for
students
in my OT Lit classes and anyone else that would like to visit the
site.
Genesis is pretty much done and I'm working on Exodus now. I was
going over
Dr. Davis' old OT Foundations syllabus and noticed your post-grad
seminar
paper on the "Urim" and was wondering if you'd grant me permission
to put
that
online for my Old Testament class and others. Once I get it up if
you'd
like
a copy that could easily be posted at Masters or where ever let me
know and
I'll give you the HTML papers for it.
Are you enjoying Masters?
I was looking for you at ETS but it is a
long
haul
to Toronto.

Dear Dr. Newman,
Greetings from Gordon. I continue to build the OT Journey learning
environment for my students and was wondering if I could have
permission to
put Mr. Dunzweiler's "Are the Bibles in our Possession Inspired?"
on our

with bibliographical citations both to Biblical and to the IBRI web
site.
Elaine Phillips says she is wanting to revise it but that may be
off in the
future sometime so I was wanting to put it up as is for my OT Lit
class to
cover the inspiration area. The "Genesis" part of the site is
fairly
complete
and I'm hoping to put up Exodus around Thanksgiving. Thanks for

Andreas,
I continue in my march through the OT canon in preparing an online
learning
environment for my OT Lit students. The Genesis site has been
crafted online
with 440 pages of journal articles from BibSac, WTJ, GTJ, Trinity
Journal etc,
and others.
http://www.gordon.edu/bible/Hildebrandt/BiblicalStudiesTAH/OTJourney/OT
Journey.htmBecause I am a member and contributor to JETS I am drawn to
request once again
for the following articles on Exodus. I realize the answer will be
"No" but I
feel it my duty to persist as I know many author's would enjoy
seeing their
works get out off of dusty book selves rarely used to be much more
easily
accessed online. One possible alternative would be to suggest that
if
articles are over 5 years old they can be put online but newer
articles not
thereby keeping membership issues safe.
May I have permission to post the following articles at Gordon
College for my
OT Lit students and anyone who would like to view the materials.
would also
like to make available audio versions in MP3 for those with
learning
disabilities. The permission for the following articles is
requested:

Professor Hildebrandt:
I am happy to give you permission to reproduce the AUSS articles as
you have
requested below. I'm asking our editorial assistant, Karen
Abrahamson, to
check our digital archives: we may be able to supply you
electronic copies
of those articles.
All we ask is that you give appropriate credit to Andrews
University
Seminary Studies, which is easy because full documentation is
included on
the first page of each article, and partial documentation is given
in the
headers at the top of even-numbered pages.
Karen is the one to contact for help with the e-copies.
Thank you for your inquiry.
Best wishes as you develop your web site.

To whom this may concern,
I am preparing a website for my Old Testament students at Gordon
College
(Wenham, MA). Many resources are being pulled together to enrich
their
learning or anyone else who would like to surf into our site. The
project is
up to the book of Exodus at this point. There are five articles
from
the
Andrews University Seminary Studies that I would like to load on
the
Internet
citing full bibliographic information as well as a thanks for
permission
statement to Andrews University. In order to facilite those with
learning
disabilities and those who commute some of the articles we are
reading
into
the MP3 audio format as well. Could I load on our Gordon College
site
the
following AUSS articles in written and audio formats:
1) Hendrix, Ralph.
"A Literary Structural Overview of Exod 25-
40,"
AUSS
30.2 (1992) 123-38.
2) Hendrix, Ralph. "The Use of Mi Kan and 'Ohel M'ed in Exodus
25-40,"
AUSS 30.1 (1992) 3-13.
3) Hendrix, Ralph. "Mi kan and 'Ohel Mo'ed: Etymology, Lexical
Definitions
and Extra-Biblical Usage," AUSS 29.3 (1991) 213-223.
4)
Hendrix, Ralph.
"A Literary Structural Analysis of the Gold-
Calf

5) Ray, Paul "The Duration of the Israerlite Sojourn in Egypt,"

Thanks for your e-note. You certainly have my permission to post
my Gen 6
article, as far as I am concerned. Likewise, to the extent that I
have any
authority in such matters, you may post materials published by IBRI
written
by Perry Phillips and Dave Bossard. To get Dave's permission, you
should
contact him as listed in the cc above.
I keep hearing good things about you. Keep up the good work.

Subject: Permission to put Perry's article online at Gordon College
Dr. Newman,
This is Ted Hildebrandt a former student from Neolithic times at
Biblical.
I
teach at Gordon College with Elaine Phillips. I'm developing an
online
resource for my students in OT Lit and was wondering if I could
have
permission to put Perry's article posted at the IBRI site on our
website at
Gordon. I've already talked to Perry and he said he'd be delighted
but that
I
should double check with you. I'm also interested in David
Bossard's
article
and would like to write him but not sure of his address.
So two questions: 1) would you grant permission to post Perry's
Gen. Days
article on the Gordon web site and
2) can I get David Bossard's email or address to ask him about
whether I
could
post one of his articles?
How are things going? In preparing for Fall OT Lit class and
building this
online resource I was able to get permission from Grace Theological
Sem. to
post your article on Gen. 6 (1984). Is that okay with you? I'd
like to
have
my students and everyone to have access to the great things you
have done.
Thanks for your response,
Ted Hildebrandt

Dear Dr. Hildebrandt,
I have received your e-mail in which you asked permission to put online for your
students some articles from Bibliotheca Sacra (you wrote "JETS" but I assume
you meant Bib Sac). We are pleased for you to do so. But it would be helpful fo
our records to which articles you plan to use. Please write me at

Many thanks.

You now have permission to use any articles you want from Grace Theological Journal. We only ask that
they be used for educational non-profit purposes and that Grace Seminary receive some recognition as the
source. It is that simple. You can keep a copy of this e-mail if you want as evidence that permission has
been granted.
I am honored to think that you would want some audio tapes of messages. However, there is not much on
tape I am afraid. Mark and I did a series on Esther that may be available still at the church - but it has been
a while.

Greetings Dave,
I hope your summer is going well. I'm commencing on another one of my goofy
projects. I'm trying to build an OT Learning environment online which would
be available to anyone anywhere for free. I'm wanting to put some journal
articles from the Grace Journal online but realize I need to get permission to
do so. There are three articles on Genesis (Robert Newman, Gen. 6; Lawlor's
Gen. 22 and M. Stitzinger on Gen 3 and women). How should I go about getting
permission and what is the procedure I should follow? Who should I contact as
the Grace Journal is defunct?
Second matter, I'm also putting on sermons from audio tapes that my students
or anyone could listen to and was interested in whether you had any OT sermon
series on audio tape you would be willing to have put online as both my wife
and I so much enjoyed your preaching at Warsaw Community when you interimed
there. I've got Genesis covered with Gordon Hugenberger from Park St Church
in Boston. I'd like to include some from you and/or Mark as you both preach
so
the Word so well.
Think of you folks often and wish God's blessing upon you and the ministry
there at Grace.
Yours,
Ted Hildebrandt

Will get those tapes in the mail for you this week. Feel free to
keep them
if you would like, no need to return them. I hope the sound quality
of the
tapes is good enough. If there are any problems drop me a line,
although I'm
leaving for vacation tomorrow and will be away until 7/17.
Blessings!

I checked with Dr. Hugenberger and he has given permission for you to post his sermons
on your site. I'm not sure if we have them available in MP3 format and am copying our

we'll send the tape series.
