Using the Library Catalog Students will learn how to search and locate books, government docs, e-books, DVD’s, etc. using keyword and subject searching, as well as truncation and limits. Research Strategies Students will learn about brainstorming for keywords, how to use subject searches, and how to use the databases for finding better terminology. Popular vs. Scholarly Resources Students will be able to distinguish between scholarly/academic journals, popular magazines, and peer reviewed/refereed journals Evaluating Web Searches Students will be able to identify reliable and accurate web sites, including comparison with Wikipedia and Google Scholar. Finding a specific journal/full-text from a citation Students will be able to find and locate a journal article (full-text or print copy) when they only have a citation. Off-Campus Access Students will learn how to access the libraries’ resources from off-campus. InterLibrary Loan (ILL) Students will learn how to request books and journal articles either not owned by the library, or held at other campus libraries. RefWorks Demo Students will be able to set-up a RefWorks account, find a Citation in a library databases, and export that citation into RefWorks.
